  1. surprised big time to see this record having gone thru ebay for a mere 17 UKP...would have thought way higher as I just like Ken and Chalky had in mind when this record had its latest "revival" a couple of years ago..in England and Germany..and copies used to fetch as much as 150 UKP (old Anglo-American list for example..). But maybe another case of "had its days..now cheap as chips"...price in that case no reflection of the records rarity IMO. Great double-sider nevertheless. Its good that people in Düsseldorf get to hear it now as well (only joking gerd ) Marc
  2. second 45 by buddy lamp...his first under the name of johnny wess on cougar.
  3. if you still looking do let me know matt...nice copy of this doublesider here for you as well mate ;)
  4. well if you bought it soon enough while it was still played as a C/UP by some..whats the phrase again..."big name" DJ`s... you could snipe it off ebay at 50 USD...nowadays I would say 1500 aint too far off the mark. At leats that´s what I got offered for mine fairly recently.
  5. 1080 USD last night on eaby...about 660 UKP https://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170677559236&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:DE:1123
  6. fabulous 45!
  7. I sold my copy for 250 UKP recently...I know a very very good price. But in reality it shouldnt cost more bearing in mind the many copies that are around, the fact that it aint a "fresh" new tune anymore and that there`s a also re-issue out as well...good luck.
  8. it was definitely not envogue, expensive when I played it a couple of years ago...sold my copy for what I thought was a good price last year...loads of people after it now as it seems...
  9. yes, I know, but after just having sold a Dynamic Corvetttes at only 280 UKP recently I couldnt really care anymore :o...LOL...truth be told, I found it real cheap. the spare I had before I traded for 150 UKP everal years ago. ;)
  10. ...and to make it even more complicated, the original comes in two takes/versions, the rough punchy one everyone seems to prefer (the one that also got booted) and a more "mellow" softer take..
  11. sold, thanks everybody..sadly I only had one spare ;)
  12. spare at 75 UKP still here if anyone wants it..
  13. ex spare copy...feel free to pm with your best offer etc...
  14. Yes, one would like to think so...but just a few months back I noticed a very known DJ buying a very expensive (almost 300 USD) bootleg and I couldnt believe it (dont bother asking who I wouldnt name him in public). Obviously not everybody knows everything and sadly some even cant be bothered to do their research homework properly before bidding ... a shame really , but I am with Nev on this one, the buyers are almost as much to blame as the sellers. It always takes two to tango... NB Am I the only one being so deeply annoyed by those bloody Popcorn bootlegs and high price listings..wish someone would "kill" these listings LOL...started to extract -popcorn now from every single search i do on ebay...so bloody annoying. Someone did buy a Popcorn Clarence Hill WDJ boot the other day for almost 500 USD...!..
  15. I think Nev is selling his copy..as is Michel scarpone from Belgium (one of the good guys from Belgium). Maybe worth asking them....
  16. you may have a point there Nev, John Hendley is rare, maybe even very rare. But I said "nice and rare"..so Delola is back in the spotlight Only joking...before thy lynch police is coming after me...
  17. Definitely more then 25...
  18. ..yes, was part of the west coast find amongst all those Troy Dodds/El Camino and Cautions/Shrine 45s (amongst opthers ..just to name some of the more prominent ones). Still like the record (Jackie Daye) a lot but was personally always surprised how it maintained its high price / value bearing in mind the many copies that were found and since then sold.
  19. There you go, might have even heard him playing it then while he was spinning that night at Radcliffe
  20. Just remembered it now...also heard it played out at Radcliffe in May...don`t know if they were originals, seem to remember the seller wasnt able to post any details (run out groove matrix and such) but did say all buyers in the past were "happy with their purchase".. So who knows ?
  21. Wasnt it enjoying some sort of revival lately ? I am sure I saw it mentioned in one or two set lists ? Agree on your other points and thanks for your valuation.
  22. Yes, teh very same seller. GUess you are right with your explanation but what would you reckon a "true" value on this record..say if you would be selling it and needed to put a price on ? There`s been a very in depth discography in one of the old Shades Of Soul issues...very informative, think it came via Shane Cox ? Still some numbers were missing, like this Delola Carmichael, Doug & Dave and the Intensions doublesider for example (all three awesome records by the way). Havent checked with Dave Rimmer´s good site, he might have a discography on USA as well by now ? And you are right, the USA label doesnt only have one of the best label designs (IMO), it sure also ranks high within my favourite labels for its musical output.
  23. If you know the buyers ebay short identification, for example r***l (1234), you know the bidders real identity as long as he keeps his ebay name and is not opening a new account. But not a big deal at all..shouldn`t have mnentioned who won it anyway maybe LOL ! Lets just say there has only been that one copy on ebay to my knowledge..
  24. What is the going rate of an original of Gwen & Ray please, I was amazed to see it finishing yesterday at only 600 sth GBP ? Thought it will end much higher ? I know there`s been a couple thrue ebay lately at under 500 USD but I the way I understood it was that it wasn`t quite clear if these were originals ? Speaking of Manship...he has a really nice and indeed very rare 45 currently up there in the shape of Delola Carmichael on USA...a current Hip City spin if I dare to say so and only the third copy I ever saw. The other copy I got recently outbid on ebay by Honky. Great doiuble-sider.. and no, I am not the owner of said copy at Manship`s ;)
