  1. jimmy gresham has been a part of most of butch`s sets during the last copule of years. rarity indeed seems to be the reason why not more djs are playing it out. me for example I lost out on two copies on ebay during the last ten years...the last at only 1600 USD sth
  2. played margaret mandolph at the recent Hamburg Soulweekender as an ender of my first set of the night. love it. frankie crocker had a massive revival some good two/three years ago.
  3. steady part of my dj box
  4. didnt know it was THAT rare myself. Had my copy for quite some time now. Kinda agreed with the valuation via JM`s last price guide of 800 UKP but was surprsied to learn from his text via the current auction that it seems to be rarer than his own valuation indicated (to me). Great double-sider!
  5. I really try to very rarely comment on any sales or auction prices these days...but this had me really almost spilling my coffe.
  6. great playlists by the way
  7. well, always knew you never gave my playlists any attention at all LOL !
  8. yeah, always liked it since I first heard it one sunny afternoon some years ago at your place...
  9. cheers everybody who was willing to help, sorted now
  10. was away in spain and not online...would really appreciate the file as well please, many thanks in advance.
  11. true. re price...thats what you get when theres some buzz about a 45 on here before auction has fnished and two bidders end up bidding themselves up to their reserve. sth tells me you will be able to hear the record at the upcoming big line up scotland and nürnberg weekenders in a nighter context...
  12. hattest du die nicht gerade erst gekauft ?
  13. had one too and traded it around the start of the 2000`s...havent seen many since then though.
  14. Furthermore I had to learn when I wanted to negotiate the rights for our 2009 release on Hip City Soul Club Records that they even wont negotiate when they have no soundmaster left in their archives...I wanted to put out Eddie Hollands "Daydreamer" as I have the orig Jobete acetate. Their answer was they have no master nor note of said track in their Motown archive so they cant let me re-release it. They offered me Frank Wilson`s DILY instead..after two seconds of laughter I decided on JJ Barnes unrel. "Everytime I See You I Go Wild!" gem instead then..
  15. dont get me wrong , and this is surely not a go at anyone participating in this or similar threads...but sometimes (and right now is such a "sometimes" moment) I wonder what all this negativity is all about. Just imagine a young one, new soulie reading all these threads and getting his first impressions of the important aspect of nightlife scenery of Rare or Northern Soul from threads like this...he sure wouldnt fancy going anymore would he ? Think we should all start to look at it a bit more positive again and not try to get all too academic about it...dont know abou you lot but I have jolly good time each time I go out. Long may it continue.
  16. at least his version is/was defo c&w (sorry nev) but I doubt its the first version...a fellow collector who also collects c&w once played me a very old version of MMLAHT which sounded like early fifties to my ears. NB please send me your file too, would love to hear the instumental version
  17. wow ...the majority must take place in the UK though..only five in Germany, one in Switzerland, two (?) in Italy, half a handful in Spain.one in France (if that is going to happen again in 2012?)..leaves about 100+ for the UK..thats about two a week
  18. MMLAHT is an old c&w standard...which may explain the many versions of the tune
  19. today morning Mandells Think Back, yesterday evening Mc Ghee´s C/UP, yesterday morning Jaggerz on Gamble
  20. I cant recall having seen more than two copies in the last three years of William Cummings...its not that easy to obtain really, is it ? Marc
  21. plus the 12inch on Sound Of Gold Russ seems to have .. https://www.popsike.com/SOUND-OF-GOLD-MEGA-Rare-4Tk-12-EDDIE-BILLUPS-Soul-Disco/4877841938.html
  22. Hi Russ, hope you are fine mate! I think its SOUND OF GOLD and not Solid Gold https://www.popsike.com/SOUND-OF-GOLD-MEGA-Rare-4Tk-12-EDDIE-BILLUPS-Soul-Disco/4877841938.html
  23. actually it says Gorpax. If you are talking about "Dynamite Explosion"..distiributed by Gorpax Nashville, Tennessee
  24. SGR-011 A/B Shorty Billups was/is Eddie Billups brother and if I remember correctly Eddie used his name for som legal reasons on the SGR relelase. Comparing the amount of copies havingbeen available I thinkits safe to say the Solid Gold release is the rarest format.
