  1. dont think so dylan, they had their own army shops to buy from where they could get us 45s for a discount price. you never ever saw them buying in german shop except for maybe buying german sausage, beer or souvenirs for their families at home.
  2. if I understand you correctly, you are saying that all sue record releases were done without authorization..so if thats true ( ?) whatelse to call them but bootlegs then ??
  3. if they are bootlegs (and I am still not 100 %convinced I must say) they would be the very first in the book of northern soul history really, wouldnt they ? there used to be so many tiny labels (even in germany) which did release strangely scarce us soul tunes...german spectrum and heliodor spring to my mind. one really cant imagine at which audience they were aimed at,as soul for sure was en vogue back then yes but as far as for germany it was motown and aretha franklin etc definitely not unknown and unheard of soul from stateside. if you would bootleg sth surely you would like to see that thing being sold. but to sell bootlegs by unknown artists with unknown tunes on the european continent back in the sixties ? no chance I would think ? so I somehow imagine the people behind those releases must have had the contacts or must have been die hard soul fans who just realsed them to entertain themselves or for the love of the music...or both. another question that needs to be thought of in order to answer wether these releases could be bootlegs is why did they only release songs that were related to each other via writers, us labels etc. ... releases by any other totally unrelated artist(s) would make more sense if they were doing a series of bootlegs...why no releases from other labels based in nyc, ohio or whereever ?
  4. FABULOUS aint the word!
  5. yes mate, got your pm. actually you seem to be located very near to my home base. we (a mate of mine and me) will have our bi-weekly record jour fixe at my place on tuesday so youre welcome to that (will pm you details) ...and yes, quite a big fresh and healthy scene over here...just got back today from soul surgerys 10th anniversary in leipzig where the was a group of 10 travelling berlin soulies.
  6. hi john feel free to contact me, also we have our upcoming event on may 12th if you like a dance ;)
  7. thats right steve, and the lisa mae take seems to be the one en vogue currently..bit of a buzz around it.
  8. hi there, bought off you in the past via ebay, welcome aboard.. just searched for your finished item, make sure to list as soul or even northern soul next time in order to achieve a much -MUCH- better price
  9. absolutely correct.
  10. Sorry bob, dont know what you mean.
  11. of course not! me neither...its just that one could easily imagine it being like that...ermmm....LOL
  12. Is it just me, but I don´t understand that whole lenghty argument about what the top bid was at all ? I mean, does it really matter who bid how much and what his/her hihest bid was ? I mean, its a bit like ging to a peep show isnt it ?! It sold for 8501 USD. Full stop.
  13. oh yes, me..most of the time. thankfully...!
  14. Uh yes, happened to me before as well..expensive experience
  15. agreed seb, a great tune indeed. I once had the pleasure (?) to dance to it when Tim Brown played it at the Hip City a few years ago ... what a record! Marc NB Hope your fine by the way, you would have loved our Copenhagen revival night at the last Hip City LOL
  16. ..goes to proove my "theory" that theres not that many people (left) willing and able to shell out K`s of USD or UKP on the real high end items...one, two maybe four worldwide aint enough when two of them already have or dont want the item in question. if another copy of the cod´s shows up it will sell for considerably less, now that nyc has a copy.
  17. yes, noticed that myself recently. since a two or three months...posibly start of the year they have switched to gls as their new partner. your story reads like a nightmare..I would have gone crazy.
  18. the amount of packages send around the globe or just inbetween one country must have trippled if not more over the last five to ten years. mostly because of the increased amount of online dealings. this plus the fact that most postal services these days hire low-paid and un-trained people generates the ever increasing amount of problems...namely parcels (and letters) going missing. love it or hate it, its part of the deal it seems. me I hate it LOL Marc (currently still waiting for a parcel send from new jersey in january..)

didnt realize...as a lookalike ? used to sell indeed some big records when they got pressed, at least stopped playing them, but with the evergrowing speed these titles get re-released these days I would be left with only a few records if I would have continued this philosoph... so I`ll keep my la salle run complete LOL ...but hope you get a copy offered of course. wasnt there a vg copy going thru ebay maybe three months ago ?
  20. we do what we do best nev, we concentrate on them semi- and unknowns. still around and we get them cheap. you are a very good at that as well mate ! just got one thru the post yesterday and won another last night...yummy yummy.
  21. nev hit the nail on its head...its with wrongly listed or badly adevrtised listings such as the COD`s that you are still very likely to get a bargain. Unless of course somebody posts a link on a forum such as this. I will never get my head around why they do...obviouslly the people in question cant be collectors and are not really interested in obtaining the record in question as they owuld keep quite otherwise of course. so it must be something psychological I can get because I have no phd in psychology...
  22. LOL plus 8,175,131 other people

...to think I sold my original for about 10% of that ... and it even had autographs of all (!) band members on it
