  1. dont do this...it will only result in your ebay ID being shut down as it is against ebay rules. believe me, here speaks a man of experience ;) LOL hope you get sorted, atb
  2. hi pete, I remember when I sold a copy for a mate of mine maybe two years ago..he got definitely way more than 40 ukp
  3. interesting read andy, thanks for sharing. I am amazed to learn "Cabin By The Sea" is by sung by George Kerr ? I had two identical Jobete acetates of this (sold one to Manship some years ago and kept the other) and always had it down as being sung by Henry Lumpkin ??
  4. he did a phenomenal show last friday here in berlin! if you have the slightest chance of making it do yourself a favour and do so. you wont regret it. amongst my favourite concert experiences of all tmes. and I have seen a few.
  5. yes, that "rule" is also known and in use over here...but I sadly had TO witness many situations in which this rule was not followed over here as well as over there. no big deal perhaps and especially not for the punter...but to me a double-yawn factor LOL happy to hear you thought about making the effort to be part of our weekender but sorry to hear you cant make it now to our little anniversary. from where would you have been flying from as I just had to find flights for other british friends of ours this week which ended up at only 100 EUR incl.return (lufthansa!)
  6. I love oldies! Not in general and full time but in fact I prefer to hear a dj play the odd not long heard oldie in comparison to some of the so-called new stuff which the dj before already has played and the next non-imaginative dj after will sure play as well (only to show-off he as the 45 too -yawn-). which opens another can of worms...when does a newie become an oldie ? the moment it has received the ginger airing ? no, in my humble opinion way before. its an oldie already when you personally know more than two other dj`s with said tune in their box LOL...whats the conclusio of my two pennies worth ? dont take it all too serious , relax, enjy, play what you like not because its an oldie or a newie but because you feel the floor would enjoy the next following tune and will appecriate you keeping the flow. But please, pleeeze, remember some of the basic fundaments of our scene...try to play imaginative, indvidual and...please...play ovo LOL

  9. you can download them from here..if this aint sufficent enough let me know and we will get you sorted somehow ;)
  10. the one on here didnt sell...two worlds apart. still the same universe.
  11. as I stated above..its not a rumour. vinyl is light brown and lights shines thru when hold up against it.
  12. I should maybe add that I found this john & weirdest bootleg in Berlin in the early nineties/end of eighties and didnt pay over the odds for it.. LOL
  13. In fact this is quite a "rare" bootleg in terms of how often you see it for sale...plus it is one that when I saw going thru ebay at 250 USD for teh first time it made it straight into my imaginary "book of totally unbelievable and out of this world high end overpriced auction jokes" ;) By the way, I have a bootleg, see thru vinyl..even WOL (Steve, you been to my pandoras box again ?). Must and will do it till I get me an original. Its fine to look at and for home self-entertainment.
  14. see my post above Seb, its really easy to differentiate between first and sec. release.
  15. Its very easy Brett, the first rel. has gold lettering whereas the sec. rel. has silver/grey. William (good man he is) did them himslef and did send them out for free to his friends and later sold them at 5 USD each. A shame if someone is trying to make a benefit out of this IMO.
  16. strangely enough a lot of these titles found their way as new releases to Berlin though. When in 1992 a well-established old record and instruments shop by the name of Musik Wiebach closed down they had a big sale out and put out boxes of old 45s sales stock at 1,- DM each. You had to go their every day as they brought new boxes up from their basement on a daily basis. Along other stuff I got hold there of many of the big titles on Capitol (Chubby & Turnpikes, Jerry Cook etc), Columbia (Walter Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Spellbinders etc etc) and along other labels .. Volt! All Margie Joseph, Roz Ryan, Newcomers, JJ Banes, TSU Toronadoes, Darrel Banks etc...not me but a mate found the Paul Thompson in there.
  17. that will be easily watched...if I havent lost count he is now up to his fifth copy (on Paul Thompson).
  18. I thought it was common knoledge that the yellow copy is a second release ? the tune was very huge around the turn of the century over here in Germany (too) and some sort of anthem of the late uptight weekenders in frankfurt maybe due arthur having been the first to have played it there (god, we had so much fun there back then..) and I seem to remember the yellow copies starting to flood ebay around the same time ? have an orange and just couldnt see myself having a collection without this 45. be it yellow or orange the tonny hymes is awesome by the way!
  19. rare soul sales and record fair are my recommendations. r&b selling group as well if that suits your taste. with hassle free does come the odd bargain but 90 % is at least to me of no interest. plus you get people in hassle free who just wont understand that it is much more useful to put up one sales list instead of posting up to over 30 + single sales posts a day which can easily get on your nerves and fills up your message board immensly LOL
  20. I`ll sell my Jades at 1000 UKP if anyone`s interested ?
  21. tarx, tra-x, x-tra and triode. great tune indeed and used to be a hip city spin maybe eight years ago when I used to feature more r&bish tunes in my sets. still love it to bits! one you dont see too often..
  22. yes, might well have been. In fact I think it was a copy on THAT other label... when you see Andy ask for the label please
  23. nice mix indeed. Out of this nice selection I can`t recommend Your Love Is Indescribably DeliciousBy Willis Wooten (Virtue) enough..a great cheapie with a nice funky flipisde. Have it in my box currently for further spin action (although I might should not have said so as this will put a few people off now LOL)
  24. Think you are right Pete. Book prices ? only for the high end or strongly indemand stuff. And most of the time only if you have a well established web shop/auction and client base. Other than that and you better forget it. Situation has pretty much become like I predicted it to become almost ten years ago... high end 45s = still occasionally rising, "middle" priced stuff = decreasing and hard to sell, basic record builders and fillers = dead. Why ? Because the UK scene -especially record buying scene- is almost dead. Most serious UK collectors are in their (late) fifties / early sixties, have most of what they want, dont want to pay rididulous prices for "new" stuff or records that are missing in their collections. Hotboxing DJ`s cant afford/risk to buy heavy high priced 45s as they know they wont be able to sell them again for what they paid for once they decide to move the thing on. And on the bottom ? Nothing. No new blood. No new collectors. Bad economy also adds its share to it. European Scene ? Thankfully different. But lets be honest to ourselves here: Despite the Nighters and weekenders attendances being extremely well the European scene still hasnt got enough serious collectors and DJ`s to fill the gap of the UK scene when it comes to create or substitute a demand. Having said that nine and a half new collectors and buyers out of ten are from the continent these days. Which does say it all really..
