  1. actually on a second thought may be indeed I would...seeing it will be hard to find 497 other records that are rarer LOL
  2. wouldnt include these too from my point of view. rare and great but not the rarest of the rare..
  3. wouldnt include these from my point of view
  4. yes, maybe. but you know how it works...before it was just an oldie that got played out regulary (although you didnt hear THAT often anyway) But after butch played it it was a butch re-activated oldie. Its a bit like having your old car newly airbrushed if you get my drift...
  5. By the way , this is next to Aachen, Bamberg and Hamburg one of the four big German Soul Weekenders and the longest running (since 1991!). Dominik Schí¶ll, Ozi Celik and Uli Leitl are the guys behind it. The weekender attracts every year around 800 people and offers two floors (huge Northern floor and a smaler Modern room) on two nights plus alldayer action while outside the venue the world famous christkindl market takes place...so, definitely worth a journey! You can fly via airberlin dirctley into Ní¼rnberg from the UK.
  6. Cheers henning, appreciated. That will be george hughley and the cama rockers followed by buddy cantrell "why did you leave me"...esp. the george hughley you can find quiote cheap if you look around. think Jí¶rg Brenner had it on his last list for under 40 Euro as well. A fabulous Deep Soul 45!
  7. search on here, I am almost 100% certain we had a topic about it in the past...
  8. yes, thats exactly what he told me too..
  9. well he did more than just help out, he wrote it and sang it...
  10. found the idols very reasonably priced , so yeah, I was quite happy myself about the trade back then. so who did I sell my new world to later ???LOL!!
  11. funny, he must haven bought of gary again when he sold up, offered it to you, some years later you sold it back to him and from there it went to me.
  12. sorry if I mixed you up with krissie holmes
  13. The Soul Inc of "Teardrops" fame were from Virginia and called Soul Brothers Inc. The vocals on the Salem 45 are sung by the Carter Brothers.
  14. as theres no cecil washington to be found in the line up it cant be the same group who recorded for coconut groove especially as they were from Flint, Michigan and not NC or Kentucky ;)
  15. the fact that it was the same seller who had soul inc will have guided more people to this his other interesting auction item. if it wouldnt have been for soul inc it may as welll have reached a lower price. still a great recorded and worth every penny. a shame I (had to) let mine go just a couple of weeks before butch decided to sort of re-activate it a couple of years ago LOL
  16. hi krissie, didnt say doug and dave are as rare as the idols, but in my experience it was amongtst the rarer stuff on USA especially in those pre-ebay days. however, thanks for the detailed info and links will check that out.
  17. being the unquestioned fabulous record ernie & ed is, I cant see any similarity in it to soul inc. other than that the lyrics are on about a similar subject. the beat and melody is much more fitting in with ree flores LIMH and thats why choosed to play it more than once before or after ree flores ... what does this all has got to with the rarity of this coconut groove 45 ? I dont know LOL !
  18. do you have other nola produced recordings by doug & dave ?
  19. ...which reminds me: Around 1988 there was a dealer at a big Berlin record fair who had amongst his stuff complete runs of USA and Palmer with him. He did only want to sell as a complete deal. I was still in school so I of course could not even dream about making him an offer. Friends of mine told me later on that because he couldnt find anyone who was willing to take the whole lot decided to split and sell individually to different Berlin record dealers. On looking back now I believe thats were a lot of Plamer and USA records originated from which I and friends of mine found here in the following years.
  20. So I take it you also have Doug & Dave on USA...another very rare 45 on the label. Found it in Berlin early nineties and played it c/up till the start of the next century.
  21. Hi Duncan, definitely seems to be...what a small world ! theres indeed a label tear, not so mall but thankfully only on the flipside. what a record....before I got my hands on it I must have played it a thousand times off a tape Gary (who was amongst the very first british DJ`s I ever invited and for that reason the first UK DJ to have played at a German allnighter..in 1990) gave me back then. Will always remember when he and his friends were at my first flat back then and much to the shock and awe of us put on Rita & The Tiaras and Jackey Beavers on my sound system...his reply was "come on fellas, its only plastic"...we were so innocent back then ;) LOL
  22. weyhey, thats the bar at the oscar wilde...picture from our 21st anniversary last year !
