  1. great info that des! do you remember the title of the cd, is it still available ?
  2. i had a feeling its female, but wasnt sure 100%. where you know from its pearl jones ?
  3. they were having a cold from sleeping in a air conditioned room the night before they were suppoed to record the tune so they had the bros of soul doing it again under the name of the creations...if I remember the story right.
  4. true, in other words played to death. there was a time a few years ago when I just couldnt hear it anymore. over dose.
  5. wasnt Maria Orlovic one of the first to get behind the record when it saw its "revival" start of the 2000`s ?
  6. oh yes, that Keel Test pressing...saw that one ebay last month ;) do you know anything about the label Bob, background, discography and such ? have a nice unrel. acetate on Keel as well but no further information..
  7. as "dream" is amongst them tunes I take it it was recorded during the period around their last release on drew, when bridges, knight and eaton were doing the producing for them. I liked the "raw" tune, think # 6 or 7 and their "dream" version, not as good as bros of soul, but still good. As they were using the United studio back then it should indeed have been an united acetate instead of audioarts though, shouldnt it ? Dave, did you also had a copy of this acetate of your own or were you playing Adey`s copy ? was it audioarts or united ?
  8. what was the story behind the acetate JM had up for auction some six/seven or maybe even eight years ago, anyone remember ? It stated sth like "the only original/first whatsoever" acetate of Melba Moore..I understood it was recorded off the orig tapes by Ady and put onto some carvers for friends/DJ`s to play out and promote ?
  9. why did you loose your case, I by now know of several who won theirs ?? Blimey...thats really awful. Must say LJD has done real big damage to his record and name. To me it will never be the same to hear said Stardom 45...in fact I am not so sure if I really wanna hear it again at all
  10. well, I wouldnt say its a pile of cack LOL but it defibnitely aint a 360 ukp record...hence my "LOL" in my initial posting. Some people are either so (too) giddy to secure a record or simply just havent got the slightestclue at all. Combine both, lack of wisdom and knowlegde plus huge amounts of disposable money, and you get one of the most dangerous mixes possible. You can watch the result on ebay every other day... I had most of them early King and Federal 45s for almost twenty years now and can remember when people shooked their heads in disbelief when I played LWJ at Soul do`s late 1990s start of 2Ks. Maybe rightly so as indeed it aint a Soul record. Still a very nice R&B tune but I wouldnt have ever imagined it becoming the big indemander on the scene that it obviously is now...
  11. I disagree. It definitely would and indeed has survived without it. At least as long as Berlin, Hamburg and other major cities are concerned. May have been different in north-west germany and bavaria though.
  12. Little Willie John....LOL!
  13. Big record, esp. over here between say 1990 - 2000, still will fill any floor. Has it ever recruited one single person though ? I strongly doubt that. Have several individual Kent compilations recruited people ? Definietly yes. As many if not more as did those Soul Supply Lp´s back in the day.
  14. hi phil, dont sell it. Esp. not in this nice condition. unless you get offered a grand you should really hold on to it as long as circumstances allow you to of course, atb marc
  15. agreed phil, its a great record and I had a request by TWO Hip City regulars to bring and play it at our last event which is what I did...but..in that condition the price really escapes me I must admit. Esp bearing in mind its styrene..
  16. yes, I also used to play it a couple of years ago (incl. UK venues) and its also been a fave in Scandinavia...sold my copy earlier this year for 700 UKP though LOL !
  17. thankfully most did notice the although it wasnt installed..
  18. Hi Greg, belayed birthday wishes ! I dont think you can "blame" one single buyer for it..I named several tunes and they are just a short snippet of what you can witness on ebay every week. but as I said, maybe I am wrong and it is just my personal impression. So far it certainly aint effecting my sales (what a pity!)
  19. I dont know and maybe its just me, but could it be that we are currently witnessing a new uprise on Rare Soul 45 prices ? Some ebay results of late have got me thinking some examples - a vg (at best) Little Nicky Soul at 1137 USD - hamilton movement in vg+ 3.800 usd, a new high if I am correct and this 45 sure aint having a revival currently ? - vickie labbat at 2.125 USD when it used to be around 800 ukp - arthur griswold on fortune at over 4K when it used to be a 300 ukp/usd 45 maybe its the economic crisis that got people who are on the look for safe investments also invest in old vinyl ? maybe its a whole new group of buying collectors/djs with little experience/knowledge ? maybe I am totally wrong and its all just coincedence ? it sure aint effecting the low budget stuff but it really seems as if "rare" titles are getting more pricey once again.. ?
  20. if thats the case history will have a chance to repeat itself by having young kids who after having have found them via local dealers and shops will have created a whole "new" dance scene around it. as it will all take place in china, mostly near the coast and surrounding mega cities it will be years later given the name "(chinese) sea soul" by a travelling journalist from bejing as the music is so dfferent to what he will have heard in bejing and other mainland chinese cities.
  21. is he ? well, maybe THAT was his shopping spree ?
  22. lookout for that someone who soon will have 183.000+ positive feedbacks, in a moment of boredom he decided to buy them all.
  23. how could anybody think -typo or no typo- you were 54 when you do look like 34
  24. know what you mean callum, still I always find it hard to follow when people compare two songs that are so totally different. its in fact like comparing for example a stax with a archetypical motown 45...just doesnt work IMO.
  25. Even 600 gbp is too much. Both 45s cant be compared with as they are in two complete different genres IMVHO. I like them both. Amazing to see it going for so much as it was on one ceratin webpage for 3oo ukp for donkeys and nobody bought it.
