  3. des, dylan, absolutely right. I can confess that sadly it isnt affecting my sales neither LOL. thats why I said "on ebay only". reason must be that on ebay the amount of your possible customers is maximized whereas at an allnighter you only have those 50, 150 or whatever amount of people is inside as your potential buyers.
  4. just got back from one of Germanys BEST events...the Hamburg Soulweekender. In its sixth year. Two nights in a wigan-like 100+ years old dance hall, one alldayer, followed by a massive sea boat cruise on two boats on sunday and to top it all a farewell party on sunday night. loads of our English and Scottsih friends joined the 600 other people who came to enjoy the world of Soul. Words can only fail to describe, you really have to be there. So make a mark in your diary for next years october already ;)
  5. must say, I too noticed a price rise. only on ebay though and mainly only for classic rarities. had a chat with butch the other day about it and he came up with what I think is a good explanation: not that many good titles (left) that hit ebay these days so more willing buyers jump on the same limited number of items = price rise.
  6. motorcitymusic did sell one too....shortly after that 4K+ copy was won. at a buy it now 3200 USD...
  7. that one changed hands for 3200 just joking ;)
  8. that is so typical me...had one for sale for almost two years...no taker. sold it last week heavily reduced and now it meets with growing demand LOL good luck on your search, great double-sider!
  9. maybe not for you lucky Brits, it was impossible to get and one of those "only dream about to once own" 45s back in the eighties and nineties over here for us. I must have won the first or at least one of the first copies that surfaced on ebay late nineties. still remember the seller being from richmond writing me a note that came with the record saying that he still lives around the corner from where that record was recorded yet this was the very first copy he ever saw/found. on a sad note the day I received it, actually while I had it on my decks for its first rounds I got a call from the then partner of an old friend of mine from my mod days and one of the first Hip City supporters informing me that he had just died from a diabetic shock strange how you sometimes end up with certain records always having that special connection. a sad one in this case
  10. one of them titles that were rare before the start of ebay. todays price is only justified by the demand for this indeed great 45, not by the quantity/rarity must have been hundreds through ebay during the last 15 years ?
  11. VERY good price, last one I saw was well more then three times as much...
  12. yeah, and its on the Barracuda 45...
  13. Please Steve, if you feel the need to correct read correctly what you wanna correct before..I never said its NYC. I said its on a NYC based label...
  14. true. I have edited my second last post to get it more appropriate
  15. It may have sth to do with the deal that brought jack montgomery to Scepter records. Maybe this Honey Bees recording shares the same background story...they are all FLOMAR published, the Garrison 45 is even produced by Jack Montgomery. That might explain why it has "never in a million years" on the flipside as its also the track that hits the flipside to jacks barracuda 45. no answer to the initial question who the honey bees were but maybe guiding us towards one ?
  16. okay, lets see what we have so far: honey bees on garrison rec. nyc, honey & the bees arctic rec. philly, honey and the bees on academy rec. nyc (albeit being another group from philly re to boba). andantes maybe the honey bees on garrison with a different lead.
  17. dont like the junior johnson as well although I love southern, I do like the melvin parker though (as much as your great move to include soundclips on the 6s site now ), not saying its the "best" but its a 7 out 10 in my book ;) the demures by the way is very nice.
  18. "Jimmie (RAy) contacted a friend in Pittsburg. Al Gee, a DJ who had many New York City contacts. He directed Jimmie to meet with Matt Parson who was working at Scepter Records in production and promotion. Matt got Jimmie a deal with the label. Pete Garrison released "You Must Be Losing Your Mind" b/w "For The Sake Of Love." After a few weeks the Garrison record was well distributed down the east coast." For more intersting read on Mr. Soulspectacular aka Jimmy Raye go to https://www.jimmieraye.com/home.html Jimmie contacted a friend in Pittsburg. Al Gee, a DJ who had many New York City contacts. 19. which might it explain why theres also a recorded instrumental of "NIAMY" by Jack Montgomery on Barracuda Records, Detroit.
  20. yes of course, but released on a nyc label which is what I wanted to point out.
  21. do you think they leased in the production skills of those people you mention or do you believe its and out and out philly recording ? which if you do would mean there were two pihlly groups of teh same name (instead of two nyc groups) ?
  22. GREAT, looking forward to any information she hopefully can give you.
  23. the original first recording line up of the andantes was jackie hines, louvain demps and marlene barrow. its an interesting thought to imagine the andantes were the honeybees on garrison, an interesting thought especially after hearing some of the records again they sang background on like "Agent OO Soul", "Ask The Lonely" etc you get the impression their voices are indeed not too far away from the sound of "never in a million years". still it would be a big coincedence to have two groups recording under the same name at lmost the same time in new york, wouldnt it ? is anyone in contact with any of the three members of the andantes TO GET A CONFIRMATION FROM THEM INSTEAD OF WILD GUESSES ? from seeing them on the road with the funk brothers a couple of years ago I understand that they are thankfully still with us and in the music business ?
  24. try https://www.bear-family.de/?gclid=CNKC9NfP9rICFQVf3godMDgASw and https://burkhardt-zensor.de/
  25. At a not so wild guess its the same group that recorded a year earlier as The Honey Bees on New York based Academy Records. Which would make it the same group that recorded another two years earlier on Pentagon Records.
