  1. So it IS this ALA label you are talking of...you already confused me with this before If you are saying you have a Wilson Pickett "BDYW" on ALA Rec out of California then you have a real oddity which could be "priceless". I have never ever heard of that release and could see no reason and legitimity for this record to be released back in the days as Double L aka Liberty had the rights for "BDYW" at the time as had Atlanitc on his back then "current" catalogue...can you put up a scan Kenny ? Would be great Marc
  2. Sorry Kenny, no idea. Maybe 10 UKP like other likewise reissues of the time ?
  3. Hi Dave (and of course everybody else), do you have aline up for the Brooks Brothers by any chance ? TIA Marc
  4. sold mine in VG+ nick about four years ago for about 15 Euros if that is of any help to you...if it is his "Baby Don`t You Weep" that you are after in any kinda format, give me a shout offline
  5. He has to (about 4 million dollars ) but at least he can get refunded when the buyer is not paying for the item. At a guess he will cancell his account which at another guess will not have been run on his real identity anyway to avoid paying the heavy fee...
  6. Hi Chris I will drop him a line via that other soulboard where he is a member of. Marc
  7. And the copy he was selling was legit as it was my old one that he purchased during a heavy trade...so I am now also wondering if the new seller was and is in fact the buyer of my old copy...only Lee can tell us me thinks
  8. I am somehow absolutely sure about that Many people from everywhere in Germany travelling to Hamburg for that event...even some people from Berlin and the UK
  9. Hi martin, did not know you had so many class tunes Marc
  10. Interesting to see this one in a playlist. Nice track, but I prefer the topside. Great playlist. Marc
  11. Yes, it is Melvin Davis second 45. Marc
  12. on ebay regulary seen at around 100 to 150 USD. 75 UKP should secure you a copy. Agree with Christian H on the recent rise in value though...it used to be a steady 20 UKP 45 for years and years.
  13. on blue/silver Blue Book. Mint condition. 150 UKP pm me if you want this 45.
  14. No prob, I knew you must have been kidding anyway Stuart that sounds interesting, do the yhave a website where one can look at that ?
  15. Well, at least I did answered your question. In my book this 45 is not unknown although being far away from being "established" of course. The weird story came from Mr Brown out of Todmorden and as I can not remember the full story I am far away from posting any clues that might hint into the wrong direction...even if that makes me sound irrelevant
  16. I think so. Once heard a weird story about Mr McCall but sadly can`t remember right now.
  17. it has, but on a red label design...Soul Sounds or sthg like that it was called
  18. Definitely more Four Gents "Young Girls" around today as they used to be, but quantity of the Gwen Owens I am not sure about that. The other Four Gents "Tomorrow" btw is a GREAT 45 and I just played it today morning again...brilliance
  19. Yeah right, remember now. Thanks
  20. If you don` t find one copy stored away under one certain collectors bed you will easily get a copy now from every dealer for 80 up to 125 (latest Joe Dunlop list) Marc
  21. One reason for that could well be that many dealers wouldn`t care to list some un- or semiknown 10 to 20 UKP records as they assume there is no demand for them. There is a vast number of tunes that you indeed very rarely see up for sale anywhere. When they have become "envogue" you then suddenly seem to find them anywhere. Recent example springs to mind in the shape of Chyvonne Scott on Alto...I was after that for years, found one, played it out, years went by and the record has somehow become "indemand", sells now for 100 UKP and you can get it nearly everywhere. Marc
  22. Sorry, 1. 3. and 4., 2. is about 20 again. Marc
  23. Three to four years ago Manship had one for auction, saying that this first 45 by Gwen Owens is rarer then her big Velgo release, which I believe. But seeing this is an early Detroit tune that is 1. not so much known, 2. not having any kind of "prestige" to itself and 3. therefore will not meet a high demand, my bet is around 1000 USD... Marc
  24. Top tune, what was its first (US) label again ? Marc
  25. Defo not German. Marc
