  2. actually I used to have two copies, sold one. A year later the buyer in need for money sold it back to me and I sold the spare on to a friend of mine here in Berlin. he seldomly sells but if you let me know your offer via pm I can and will ask him for you.. no big hope though as judging by the fact that he ALWAYS asks me to play that tune when I am deejaying and gets pissed off really BIG TIME if I dont play it lets me believe he really digs it big time LOL
  3. sorry but no mate ;)
  4. this looks very good and interesting, definitely a must buy. "It was Ace Records’ good fortune in 2009 to become the first independent record company in the world to acquire the rights to release previously unissued Motown material from the 1960s" isnt quite right though as I was happy to get the rights to release two unreleased Motown tracks for our Hip City 19th Anniversary 45 back then from Motown/Universal..
  5. always reminds me on Bob Marleys "No Woman No Cry"...wouldnt be too surprised if "One Woman Man" was the orig source of inspiration for this Reggae classic. The Suncut version is much more soulful than the Hitbound version and has been in my playbox since a good four years or so..fabulous tune https://soundcloud.com/hip-city-soul-club/perk-badger-and-the-rising
  6. no prob mate, just had a feeling it was that copy ;)
  7. hope your e doing well mate, is this the copy that was looking for its owner after last years anniversary fridays night adventure ;) ?
  8. chipped, cracked, g+ condition...my good god! I think I will better settle with a 5 gbp copy of Kim Weston "Helpless" in excellent condition in the meantime. I mean its even a better tune.
  9. where did one turn up this morning, wheres the soundfile ..confused I am..
  10. though he had sold his to Mick H years ago ? Okayish sound to my ears, nth special and if it wouldnt be rare...etc
  11. no, you are not. I said the same when the new events section started. havent put up there one single event out of the several ones I guest at or organize on my own every year. I just couldnt be bothered anymore because like you I think its definitely not user-friendly and in my opinion is one of the main reasons it now seems to be one of the sections within soul-source that see the lowest activity. looks like everybody (incl. me) is using fb events these days.
  12. some really nice tunes in there Bob, the Delon Washngton is sublime and a serious piece of rare Chicago sweeteness. Must admit having not heard the flipside (to "Getting Mighty Close") for a long time. on the list to do for later today when at home. Being as childish as I can be from time to time I used to play the Mad Hatters c/up some time ago btw..
  13. Delores Maxwell 75 GBP ! Bargain alarm..
  14. sorry benji, if you like Soul I should have added oh my god, Dave better hurries up and lox this threads..I see trouble arisen LOL
  15. such a beautyful record, such a great voice. Been playing the thing about four times this very weekend (at home).
  16. Me too, but I wouldnt see myself being willing to pay more than 2500 GBP for it. Problem is..every seller from now on will think its worth 10.000 GBP plus..
  17. and that was already double to what what the owner he himself had to pay for MJ...... But I have accepted since long that rarity really is not the main factor when it comes to the value of a record. so much to take into concideration: how many know the 45, what sort of kudos does it carry, whats the dmeand, who`s selling it, where is he selling it and using which words to advertise it, what time (of the year..serious), whos taking pat of teh auction, etc it all adds up to = the indeed very strange world of NS
  18. Not that weird at all bearing in mind Don Robey sold his Peacock family to ABC in 1973. ABC may have tried tio recycle the old material via that Comp.
  19. diggin dave had one a while ago... maybe worth giving hima shout
  20. Well Tony, if 10k plus GBP or whatever the final bid will be wont tempt another copy out of Mr Ashfords collection I am sure we can all assume he aint having one left..
  21. It had been rumoured that Don Robey who started out his career managing a nightclub in LA had close links with the Mafia. After having returned to Texas he started another nightclub in Houston called the Peacock Club which is where he got the name from for his label group of Duke/Peacock/Sure Shot and Back Beat. He had a bad reputation for not only always carrying a gun but for also putting on the table when negotiating contracts..
  22. I try not to comment on these auction results usuaLly....but ?!
  23. butch if I remember correct ?
