  1. just to confirm, its true I dont own a copy. wont comment on nevs statement that I wasnt that fussed when he offered me his copy as I dont wanna diss the people who own and play it ;) out of interest nev, did any of the above mentioned owners of a copy bought yours in the end or do you still have yours ? cheers
  2. think chris stated on fb that he is back. think dave thorley brought some five copies over a couple of years ago, sure he will confirm/correct. ady pountain found one at a local record fair in Britain, henning in switzerland has one too. another uk collector had found a copy about one and a half years ago. I know where theres another copy stateside so that makes it about 9 - 10 copies that I know of.
  3. Yes, Think that was even more near to 1500 UKP...it was my old copy. As you say a bloody rare and great tune. We made contact with Kurt Harris and that eventually led to its recent re-release.
  4. Dont think the mel williams was over priced, seen one in less good condition for less but a minter usually fetches 800 GBP. Having said that, you dont see it very often, esp. not in mint minus cond. Holidays came a surprise, would have thought 500 GP tops.
  5. wont contirbute to the question of "pro or contra boots" as I ve done it so many times I am sick of it already big time. Some will always find some sort of justification for it.. Only thing I have to add, these boots (Betty Lloyd and Johnny Rogers) are obviously made to give them a real deal kinda feel to them. both failed big time.. On a side note: I did visit a mate of mine recently who runs a local record shop. hadnt been there for ages due to my more and more demanding work comitments. I was so so surprised to see about three hundred different recent bootlegs of r&b racks on the shelves. I told me mate how surprised I was and went on to ask him if he still keeps track and knows whats new etc etc and he said he had given up a long time ago already. he thinks himself its way too much being "re-released" these days. plus the sound qulaity on most is so so poor. the supply by far has now outnumbered demand. side-aspect of this is that this new breed / r&b scene is almost dead by now (over here)... more than four different record shops selling this shit, every dick, john and jim thought he is a dj now and every club tried to have its own r&b nights and parties. over-dose. and the bootlegs were the fuel for it. sounds familiar ?
  6. brilliant tune, I played it to butch and dave thorley at one of those infamous "kitchen" sessions at the soulshakers headquarters house at the bamberg weekender a year or two ago much to their surprise and liking. a rare and indeed unknown tune despite being on our soundcloud for some time now already
  7. cheers benji , that explains it then
  8. bimey..that would mean it took Kitch 5 years to make up his mind if he would take another copy out of said box...not to mention why he didnt take the whole run anyway LOL !
  9. do you remember where you found those two copies ?
  10. acually it sounded almost as bad as a needle burned copy. The record looked clean and nice but because of that destroyed intro I personally wouldnt grade it any higher than VG+. A 1500 UKP maybe 2000 UKP record easily these days in decent (mint minus) conidtion.
  11. bloody hell, this made the whole thread worthwhile (if it wouldnt already have beeen anyway)..didnt even know you had a website beore you posted that link!
  12. cheers fellas, although I might agree on that their prcies here and there might be a "bit" over the top and some description do indeed make a wonderful and entertaining read on a rainy afternoon at home ... I think whats happeing on here right now is what the youth these days calls a "shit storm"... dont think it will do their website and future business any good. So bearing in mind everybody does his job for a living and eveyrthing ever written and said on the internet stays on the net...this thread might better be stopped and deleted. Just my opinion and thoughts.
  13. do I understand you correct in that eddie Holman did knew the tune before the above described scenario ? what is the explanation for his credits on the record and the two unrel 6ts versions existing sung by him ?
  14. ´cause we are bored and its more fun than watching the telly LOL

Malayka plus that ebay copy from 2011 if its not one of the above.. in Germany Me One copy with pic sleeve in the hands of a Beat/Garage collector in the USA one in New York one in Californa (I am pretty sure the other - "hammered" - copy Greg is referring to was recently sold and included above) all in all 11 plus potentially 2 more copies so, now go and get hunting ... ;) !
  16. no that was 1945..but I have a feeling you are on about a different RAF LOL
  17. yes, and he who lives in wolverhampton LOL
  18. Well, I can only speak for Berlin although it would make me wonder if the US Army would have had different rules for different regions. But however, here in Berin for example it was simply not possible to be allowed in if you had no US ID. My mum knew a fair lot of American people as my aunt was married with an US Army officer. Still it simply wasnt possible to be allowed into either the US shops or the nightclubs for her...desite belonging to the same family. Also you must remember these were the heydays of the RAF so the US military police and such were specially alerted and not allowing anybody but people of US citizenship into their bases. This may have been a different story in France or belgium but John Harris & The Soul Sayers only toured Southern Germany.
  19. Marco Santucci (?) That English collector/dealer/DJ I mentioned above That one copy off ebay start of 2011 that went to a UK fella (seller didnt want to tell me who though LOL - may have ended up with C&M Willingham ?) plus on the continent me plus one in New York

  24. cheers jordi and nev, to answer the two of you in one post ;)...thats the info I had back then as I came second on said copy. actually while searching for some old pm`s I just realised it a few seconds ago it was already back in 2010 not 2011..how time flies..anyway, that said, there can have happened several things which led to the result that said copy stayed in britain..who knows.
