  1. Exactly my thoughts the moment I had writen my first statement. But still...nearly 2000 UKP for a VG+ copy. I stopped looking after it had crossed 1100 UKP. Marc
  2. Amazing, isn`t it...about 400 UKP+ more than it was recently on soul source. And I thought every collecting Soulie would be a member of Soul Source already. Apparently not.
  3. What a great artist he has been and how much he did give us all. Marc
  4. Hi there John, the world is a small place indeed...great...yes, a bargain...if not already a steal Marc
  5. Well, Sly, Slick and the Wicked is a strong candidate in my playlsts since about a year now and its a great 45 to be played at Modern and / or Funk nights. Always have one person asking me what the heck this brilliant records is... ...Had some multiple copies of these and at first had no bidders an my issue...which is harder than the demo of course. If you imagine Vibrations "Shake It Up" you are very close to the sound of this precious 45. Marc
  6. It had been booted in the eighties along other early Detroit stuff. I had it until the real deal came along. Quite easy to spot the difference as the repro is done with a badly done copy of the originla label design. Marc
  7. ...is ending in a few hrs time pus loads of other good stuff incl. Soul Brothers/Sho Biz, Saints/Kent, Terry & The Tyrants etc. have a look please... https://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?s...op=1&fsoo=1 Many thanks for your interest,
  8. Which reminds me that there is another copy in Germany...a collcetor in Bremen has got one. A real one.
  9. Well, thank you sir, there you go that is my copy...900 UKP...told you it was cheap
  10. Well, I bought mine end of 2005 off ebay...a mint (!) with only a light storage warp. Don`t remember the price (as I am not to keen on memorizing prices on records which I will never ever sell) but remember saying to myslef "that was CHEAP!"...however, I have all his early records (Wheel City, Keke, Fortune and Jackpot) and must say, yes this is rare and great but his rarest must be his Jackpot 45. Melvin Davis himself did not even know it had been released, Butch didn`t knew it when I first played and showed him my copy and I had to search bloody 16 years for my first copy (and all of a sudden found a second copy -its always the same- had that experience with Little Stanley and "Doc truelove" as well ). As his Jackpot 45 is not known and a tad too early for most Northern Soulers it hasn`t got really a price tag and I ended up with trading this second copy to Steve Z. Marc
  11. I thought so myself already thats why I didn´t scratch my head to much on the Jimmy Bo Horne which I sold just two weeks ago at 1000 UKP.
  12. The tune was once re-released in a limited edition completely with a nice picture sleeve but I don`t knwo if they used the same label. Great tune still...so who was first Honey Cone or Emanon`s ?
  13. What a great 45 ! But five years is nth....I had to wait about 15+ years, But having said so, for the first 13 years I though this tune was only an unreleased Lupine track only. It was thru Rare Soul Review that I got notice of that 45 and happily secured a minter. Dead rare piece.
  14. Monopolist, eh ?
  15. https://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?s...ntrypage=search
  16. True...could well do a with a 12inch extended mix version of said tune
  17. Yes it is. All originals should also carry sort of a stamped name in the dead wax next to the release number...it was far too small for me to read though
  18. Fabulous tune indeed, 1.36 min of Soul heaven. You may will be as lucky as I was when I found one for around 100 USD
  19. Just noticed that a lot of "new" (?) bootlegs are coming (again) from Belgium. I nearly bid on the recent Freedie Houston and Sparkles bootlegs up on ebay which must have been newly made as they look so close to an original on first view. Also there are currently bootelgs of Patrinell Staten being offered which I do believe must be newly made...up comes the question where the people who made these have had access to the tunes and labels as to my knowledge the number of people having this record is whith Butch, Arthur Fenn, me and approx. two more people very limited ?? Bootleggers and people who buy these sort of things to play out loud at a venue..."hang them high" is what I say. I sold some serious rare records to finance my lastest release on Hip City Soul Club Records and will (again) be very unlikely to get the money back, which is okay as long as it is fun to do and the artist gets his fair piece of the cake (which he is in this case) but when you have these kinda bootleggers making a nice benefit it really pisses you off. Marc
  20. I checked last night at home with my copy and the originals should have a LW pressed into the dead wax (on my copy placed at about two o`clock).
  21. Forgot to say that all 45s are obviously in ex+ to m- condition You can easily email me at hipcitysoulclub@gmx.net or pm me, Many thanks Marc
  22. I am planning to part with my complete Alpha Record label run (excluding Alpha 006) incl. Johhny Alton, Jimmy Wallace, Ronnie & Joyce, Celestrals etc. and the best to do would be to hand them over complete to a collector who appreciates a complete label run instead of selling them individually. So if you are interested please send me an offer and we take it from there. Many thanks
  23. Hi there Phil, just recently sold my copy (along the rest of the label) and would like to know if I made a "mistake" price-wise...so please let me know how much you got for it (offlist iuf you wish of course), appreciated
