Think what Benji is saying is that it just is an okay-ish record. Not bad but nothing to get too excited about (at least not for him obviously others..). The good old question, if it would be available in quantity, easy to get and prcied around 25 UKP .. would people -DJ`s- really care ? Looking at so many other good (in fact better for my money) records that sell for around that amount or slightly more even on the Dore label I doubt it... Cheap but highly recommended flipside of an easy to get Whispers 45 on Dore. A current content of my tool box and if I would have to choose between Superbs and this Whispers 45... https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F81964722&show_artwork=true">

no, it had a high starting price (500 if I remember correctly) and that one bid came in just shortly before auction finished.
-
cheers for claryfying that up Steve..your words indeed came across to me that way.."..where I think you continually get it wrong Marc" and such.. but anyway, all fine
-
Ah well,....where to start ? Let me first get it straight were you obviously misinterpreted me as you continually seem to do: I didnt overemphasise the impact niter play has. But niter plays PLUS for example the heavy rotations on social media sites such as fb and others (which are only caused by the fact that certain DJ`s have and include such records in their sets) have much more impact than collectors tapes. They, and I repeat myself here as that was the only statement I not only made but you also obviously did not get, have no impact at all. Zero. Second: where did I suggest no one wanted the record when Dave had his batch for sale ? Why do you always try to change around what one has said ? Of course nearly every one wanted a copy ! Thats the thing with newies.. no matter if butch or some other big name already has a copy or not. Thought you knew that. So please in future read more carefully what I have said before you quote me and stay off from trying to twist my words around and trying to explain to me how the collectors market works. which in itself is -somehow- almost ...ridiculous.
-
erm, which is exactly what I said ??
-
we posted almost simultaneously... BUT...what a lame and boring track that is ??!!! just joking Steve ;)
-
update : willis wooten sold (acually on hold), chance & tony got an offer of 600 USD in which wont be doing the deal and Soutshide Movement is sold
-
no, its the result of a bored marc on a lazy afternoon LOL sounkful = soulful funk ;)
-
You know how big the impact on the scene the fact has it had been featured on a collectors tape and was known about amongst had core collectors ? Zero. Nada. Nothing. The record broke thru the moment Dave sold said copies to fellow DJ`s. Fact. Before you have to mention it a third time Steve LOL... we all know by now you have another rare one by him. so come on and post a soundfile of that Sir Joe 45 so that we all can tell you how sh**e it is ... the soul-source way LOL ;)

Don`t know Mark, but whouldnt be too surprised as Alan had his brill moments of being quite ahead of its time (Salt & Pepper being just one prime example).
-
Its neither a Eddie Parker (to name just one example of an trad old classic) nor a Willie Tee Bonatemp (to name just one example of what I class as a top high class "newly" establised rare Soul 45) but based on the fact that this is one of the rarely found and even rarer breaking thru "new" discoveries and not a bad Soul record at all I would give it 7-8 out of ten ;)

wrong karl, you should have joined Andy and Mick`s last travel to the Hip City. Andy Dyson danced :o ?!!

For Sale Kurtis Scott 'build, Build, Build' On Happenin'
Marc Forrest replied to Rocco151's topic in Record Sales
"build, build, build" ;) hopefully an originial first issue will always be much more desirable than a sec rel. Dont think anyone serious about collecing would prefer a willie tee "pay your dues", two plus two velgo or kurtis scott for that matter instead of the original ? -
..sorry ;)
-
1500 - 2000 ukp maybe ? maybe more on a sunny day, but definitely not less.
-
no, they came via joe himself..ad a good chat with joe quarterman last year when I was supporting DJ at his Berlin concert ;)
-
just to confirm, its true I dont own a copy. wont comment on nevs statement that I wasnt that fussed when he offered me his copy as I dont wanna diss the people who own and play it ;) out of interest nev, did any of the above mentioned owners of a copy bought yours in the end or do you still have yours ? cheers
-
think chris stated on fb that he is back. think dave thorley brought some five copies over a couple of years ago, sure he will confirm/correct. ady pountain found one at a local record fair in Britain, henning in switzerland has one too. another uk collector had found a copy about one and a half years ago. I know where theres another copy stateside so that makes it about 9 - 10 copies that I know of.

Marc Forrest replied to Rocco151's topic in Record Sales
Yes, Think that was even more near to 1500 UKP...it was my old copy. As you say a bloody rare and great tune. We made contact with Kurt Harris and that eventually led to its recent re-release.
