  6. Yes CarlF does..remember holding it when he brought his playbox to my flat when he last deejayed at my club...oh my, already around 13 years ago as well by now!!! LOL
  7. cant deny that theres another possibility !
  8. Hi there, another run of acetates, all unreleased stuff. All 100 % original, and pretty awesome they soudn too!! Please pm if seriously interested and I will provide a picture if wanted and short sound snippet for you. Eddie Holland "Daydreamer" Magnificent masterpiece and one of only two/three known acetates of this. The 10 Inch acetate does also feature Valadiers "Tell All Your Friends" another fabulous uptempo Motown tune by this group that had such a limited output on Gordy Rec.! Two more nice unrel. tunes on it by Chris Clark and Henry Lumpkin all unrel. although I once had a 7 Inch acetate of the Henry Lumpkin track which I sold to John Manship so theres at least two of this around. Looking for serious offers around 2.5 K on this one. Brenda Holloway "Lonely Boy" Awesome and on vinyl unrel. first version of the Eric Mercury biggie. This acetate is 7 Inch and visually VG but plays surprisngly well. I deejay out with it from time to time so you can rest assuered it fits the bill. I once saw another of this being advertised so at least two around. Offers around 500 UKP Cheverettes (?) "You`re A Looser" Bell Sound, uptempo R&B stormer, Min. offer now 300 (been let down last time it was up for sale hence the reduction for a quick sale) Little Jr. Lewis "Can She Give You Fever" Beltone acetate, first version of this by now classic R&B tune Min. offer 100 USD Thats it for now, gonna let this run till sunday 1 pm (UK)
  9. What a downer (not really!), no Sandy Golden then! On the basis of his new description my new bet then will be acetate...a acetate of a track that before was a one 45 only game. So which big classics from the early-mid seventies are one copy only still ? ? ? Especially for those dedicated global Northern Soul collectors who seek the ultimate rarities, coupled with unrivaled reputation and desirability. On Friday 29/11/13 Will be presenting what we consider as the rarest The world’s RARESTNorthern Soul Classic ORIGINAL having been a ONE OF A KIND 45 for near 4 decades. Totally and never having never been for sale on the worldwide web. It is of course a most fabulous Northern soul double-sider in a unique format.
  10. Its (was) acetate anyway
  11. Its been indemand (again) for a fair while now...would say the last couple of years in fact! Having said that, I can imagine the butch-factor now being responsible for another price hike. However: 750 GBP? You gotta be joking, never...
  12. Its all good fun this thread but I bet the one enjoying it the most is John Manship himself ;)
  13. Seconded dobber, although I thought he already once auctioned a copy ? Theres definitely one lined up via that complete shrine run he currently is auctioning bit by bit. so yeah, another strong possibility here mate!
  14. john himselfs says so by using about six question marks around "c/w"... now if thats not intended to force further curiousity and interest I dont know what else.. sticking with Sandy Golden as long as no one mentions another double-sided, rarest of the rare northern soul "holy grail" that JM didnt already auction during his past. Wait, what about Patrinell Staten ? Did he ever auction one ?
  15. not rare enough..even I have a copy.
  16. magnetics at 150 gbp must be donkeys ago ? if he had the rouser 45 it MUST be Sandy Golden...
  17. lets try to put a structure into our guessing, shall we ? a record that is (amongst) THE rarest of the rare a record that is widely accepted as a / THE classic northern soul record a double-sider a record JM never owned or had for sale All Shrine records and FW do not qualify as JM already had/auctioned them, Little Johnny Hamilton and the Creators aint no doublesider and same applies to Kell "Law Against A Heartbreaker" Osborne The Butlers with Frankie Beverley "Because Of My Heart / Want To Feel hat I`m Wanted" Rouser The Magnetics "Lady In Green / Heart Made Of Stone" Bonnie and of course Sandy Golden out f these three and bearing recent happenings (= finds) in mind I vote for Sandy Golden ;)
  18. are you sure the box did ever contain a 45 when it was stuck in customs ? very unlikely to imagine a custom officer opening the box, deciding to steal a record which would see him loose his job in case ever came to light, to then re-close said box and send it off again ? would have been easier to just steal the whole box surely... ??!
  19. oh no, stop it Ian...not another one LoL !
  20. six pages onwards...and me being only reading with interest but not contributing due to lack of further evidence in any direction is not wiser at all. so far to me there are two possible scenarios based on what has been said and both make perfect sense to me 1. "Ian Dewhirst theory": Simon Soussan got hold of the master, pressed it up but then decided (or got the feedback) that it aint right for uk dance floors and so destroyed or stored the remaining run. only a handful of copies survived / found their way into Europe. 2. "Chalky theory": Sandy Golden or someone who believed in her recorded and pressed the record privately (hence matrix SG-201 = Sandy Golden ?). A throwback in sound definitely but it wouldnt be the first example of a seventies record sounding like or wanting to sound like a mid sixties record. Sales were zero, so most copies were destroyed or tucked away waiting to be found. Maybe they have been found already years or decades ago by a US record dealer whatsoever with no contacts to any soul market/customers at all and sold them on to customers again with no ties into the soul scene. This could explain why copies were found in so different and not soul connected places (Amsterdam, etc) As I said very interesting thread and the mystery continues. At least to me..
  21. I seem to remember having been told that they licensed all 45 records via the writers or band members.
  22. Oops, just seen the signature, hi David ;)!
