  1. Mick told me last night about his recent purchases, the Whale 45 wasnt amongst them ... but some other tasty stuff ;) (he played a blinding set btw, his new c/up is awesome, female artist, him and Andy are playing it, fab stuff) Butch doesnt have a Springers so he told me.
  2. No problem Dave, but neither do I....smoke or believe you are the all seeing eye. you said you saw at least two copies on ebay, I say theres only been one and that one wasnt a real copy. None show up via popsike or collectorsfrenzy. Dont know if TB had one in his auction. Doubt it. Will give this thread a rest now, have a great weekend...I am getting ready now to enjoy mine ;)
  3. you may have seen one of their other two whale releases, or your memory is playing tricks on you. whatever the case, except for that one fraud listing there hasnt been a real one up for sale on ebay. which equals there hasnt been one on ebay! everything else indeed is rubbish and just another myth. wether timmie brown had one in his auction I dont remember seeing it but I heavily doubt it. I'll ask him.
  4. Brilliant!
  5. Also one in a private sale early this year at 1000 GBP...
  6. Wrong. Despite popsike and collectorsfrenzy showing both zero there has been ONE listing of this record on ebay. This is about eight - ten years ago. Buyer was a very well known DJ from the UK but it turned out the listing was a fraud and the deal was not finalized. So in fact there hasnt been a real one up for sale on the whole wide web so far.
  7. think Rita Dacosta went fairly cheap as did the Cautions bearing in mind it was "MINT" = unplayed.
  8. well, not too hard to guess, is it ? I have a feeling I know ... ;)
  9. dont get it, if one went abroad it will still be five copies or am I summat missing here ??
  10. its definitely not a 45 you see every day. I sold this along the other version to jm roughly eight years ago for about half of what it did fetch now,
  11. ....and I cry THAT WAS A TONGUE IN CHEEK ATTEMPT TO WRITE A FUNNY ST**EME*T...but no problem as you as an American MUST have dificulties in understanding a German who tries to be funny the English way. Furthermore I have the deepest respect for you as the keyboard player and co-arranger on one of my alltime favourite records. So you can shout bullshit to me actually as many times you want to and I wouldnt mind. Thank you for this Soul masterpiece.
  12. Tuska, Saadia..even La Beat. Think they all do not qualifiy in the real meaning of this thread as all it takes for one to buy a run of these is to really have the dosh. They ARE around... But try buying a set on Mars-La-Tour..
  13. have both jjm and cw. the jjm was around in quantity when I bought it, its lazer tecord though. seventies if I am not mistaken.
  14. Actually "didnt" is the side he was playing. funnily enough it came up in a conversation I had with him last week at a restaurant here in berlin...he said in a kinda cheeky way "I wonder what sort of a genius is responsible for so and so" and I said "must be the same genius who decided to turn over dennis edwards to start playing "I didn`t.." LOL
  15. Wont buy that one as I got all of them records at home already (that was my moment of showing off for this month LOL) but the NYC CD on the first screen will see me as a buyer! Must be good if the current Hip City spin Paul Walters is included ( LOL ) !
  16. theres two versions by eddie holman, the one on grapevine and a better one..
  17. I said this (ON HERE) more then ten years ago...cheap records will become almost un-sellable. Classics between 150 - 500 GBP will stay where they are unless some get re-activated (= price hike). The big tunes - say from 750 to a grand and upwards - will continue to rise. All my points haven been proven right. The price hike on the big tunes though has come faster, heavier and with much more impact than I at first estimated. Mainly because of all the hot-boxing "collectors" and of course the continuing growth of new DJ`s all over the world (mainly US, UK and rest of Western Europe) who all want to have and play the very same big records...BUT...who at the same tiome do not start a proper own collection and limit themselves to just say 200 - 500 playbox records. As a result cheap records (they used to be called collection-builders once...) have become almost unsellable. Think this will continue until some sort of a "big bang" = crash will hit our collecting scene. That may already start in about in 5 / 10 years from now when many of the first generation Soul collectors will sadly start to join the parade up above and as a result their records will flood the market. 18. Hi everyone, decided to let go a fine copy of what is an extremenly rare and still quite semi-known only (no mention in Manships guide or Mc Graths) Chicago rarity in the shape of Melvin Johnson "Don`t Let Yourself Go" on Contact Rec. My old Flash McKinley C/UP ...a beauty! Best offer around 350 GBP by today 7PM UK time gets it!
  19. wow, it never fails to amaze me how big this collecting scene is and how fast a quantity as yours get absorbed by the demand!
  20. Finishing in 1 hr and 49 min from now..
  21. Yes, when I collected the Logo label I had that one too, light blue non see through vinyl. It looked good! I had at one point the Monoraxs on Astra in I think four diffetent colours! Think I kept the red one. Loads of coloured labels esp in the group and doo wop section of my collection left
  22. Dont be too harsh with the sceptical side of the collecting world, not taking everything for granted, having doubts and looking for new solutions always been the driving force behind evolution ;)
  23. I wonder if theres a way to put a date on it via the artisan mastering in the way you can date rite pressings...
