  2. Pete, to put something in brackets is not indicating a lie it is simply indicating a quote... A Big name DJ (no brackets used now as I already indicated my quoting once before..) I would imagine is also one of the guys and gals who are on top of the game. Therefore I would imagine they should indeed have an eye on almost every possible source incl. ebay for new stuff. IMO. So thats reflecting my thoughts on your point made. If not it seems as if its just another case of "you are only as good as your main dealer is..." That goes to explain why I couldn`t understand that a big name DJ wasn`t going to buy it off ebay when it was there for over a week for everyone to see and hear. And thirdly, the most important thing indeed, its simply not a very good record IMO. And far far from being the most perfect Northern Soul record ever...I mean, come on..really. All only IMO and no need to feel offended at all. Good luck with it to whoever bought it. Seriously.
  3. exactly. I am amazed to learn that a "big name DJ" pays more than 2500 UKP for what is a very cool backing tracking with lyrics so poor they make even James Duncan `s 3 little pigs sound like the cream of the lyrical crop. Also makes you wonder why the new owner did not decide to buy it at 500 USD plus when it was on ebay with a soundfile when most of us decided to leave it. More then 2500 UKP is more then 8 times as much, so bearing that in mind it was indeed obviously a very good find..

  5. The Leon Peterson is rare but not as rare as the Lawrence Faulckon IMO. Great 45 for sure but I must admit I like the other side more. Marc
  6. Hi Ady, can supply you scans and soundfiles of all needed KeKe and Kable 45s. Just pm or email me what exactly you need. ATB Marc
  7. Lawrence Faulckon (as on MRC) if memory serves me right. Got it at home.

  10. Tend to agree with most of that and ask everybody to say which titles they think should not be on the list. Having said that, the initial idea was and still is about titles that before ebay and the rest of the net have been "...hidden from the masses in private deals to buyers or by the now seemingly prehistoric sales lists by mail..." or have been sold only to the "choosen few" = resulting in normal collectors having had zero chance to buy them. Another good example maybe Nelson Sanders "Mojo Man" Rambler. Before ebay impossible reocrd now one up every two months. Last one finfished by 250 USD sth by the way....
  11. two copies only ?...nah...there`s been one up on ebay this month too which was ended without having had the chance to attract any bids way too early....wonder who got that copy....
  12. Well, what was not there in quantity at John Andersons in the 8ties I ask you ? Pretty rare item and mucho indemando, so current price is no wonder IMHO. Flipside is indeed Middle of The Road....interesting to know maybe that MMLAHT is a C&W standard where there do exist other versions of as well ...yes indeed they do.
  13. Had it on my watch list as well but couldn`t see myself paying any sort of big money for it as condition and the dull lyrics really left sth to be desired. Sax sounds Detoit but so have others. If it would by Mike Terry it would be maybe more dominating the melody though. However, maybe you still invested better in comparison to the (un)lucky buyer of that Sammy Lee "acetate"....
  14. One can always be very lucky getting unknowns/semi-known tracks for next to nth..thats all part of the fun in it. But rest assured this 45 is very rare. I still have it C/UP from when I used to play it in the R&B heydays years ago .. Only ever found two other copies. Sold the last one at 250 UKP or USD (can`t remember the currency but was selling to th US).
  15. Hi Mike, hope you are fine ! ATB Marc

  17. Hi Dave, your right on Marion Stewart, but were Jack Montgomery (normal issue not the miss-spelt one) and Ruby Andrews really THAT rare anyhow before ebay ? I doubt it somehow...
  18. Hi Andy, so then its a no for the list for RP and MW Marc
  19. lotusland Posted 14 June 2009 - 08:17 PM "This thread is interesting but ridiculously putting 45s that 2 or 3 copies have been put up on eBay within 10 years time right next to records that have been up 2-3 times A MONTH for the last decade. Come on. You're right on with the New World's/ etc. but Lil Major Williams? Richard Paradise? seriously. what is it like 100 copies compared to 2? " You are right. Thats why it is an open public discussion. If you think LilMajor Williams and Richard Paradise should not be included just say so. I always asked for other opinions before anything was / is getting added to the list. Richard Paradise wasn`t added at all so far anyway, as I personally don`t consider the fact that two of the most agile persons on the scene had "some" copies for sale reason enough to call the title "de-rarifeied" by any means at all. Whom out of the two nice fellas at Lotusland am I talking to right now by the way ?
  20. I have found what looks like it is my complete pm´s from the past..go to "my messenger" where you will only find one your most recent pm (why are the yknow called converstaions?..anyway) then on the left side you will find "old conversations or sth like that which will hopefully also feature your old pm`s. Deepest of respect for your work Mike, still I feel a bit lost with this new look and feel I must admit. Marc

  22. ..here´s another addition, Liz Verdi. Remember when I bought my copy off Anglo beginning of 2000 it stated on the sleeve "first copy we ever had for sale". since then there`s been some serious amount on ebay. But only ever one issue. yes, no, yes, no but yes ? Marc
  23. Its a great Soul 45 with fantastic lyrics. Quality. So no wonder you were expecting it to go up
  24. so many fantastic and inspiring tapes from various different people over the years, but if it would have to be just one then it would have to be a tape recording of detroit a-go-go from a mate who was "king amongst the poor" because he had that LP. Thats 25 years ago now and the "inpsiration" still lasts on! Marc
