  1. the last 45s that made my eyes wet were Mike & The Modifiers "It`s Too Bad" Coke Escodedo "I Wouldn`t Change A Thing" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YN0UnZ5KuzI Barbara Hall "Broken Hearted" https://www.sirshambling.com/artists/B/barbara_hall.html Thankfully I was at home.
  2. No, cause if they would they wouldn`t be DJ`s. IMO. Don`t understand the argument about this 45.Wether its to your taste or not, four things for sure, its dead rare, its been never on ebay before (?), its one of the so-called northern anthems/trophies and its in the guides at 4000 UKP...so the actual price is a discount of 25 %. Good price ? Sure for someone who wanted the record badly and never had a chance to get hold of it. Marc NB Gary Spencer also had a copy, at least he was playing it several times when he was invited to Berlin early nineties.
  3. yes Mick, very interesting side this one was indeed. Marc
  4. just a joke mate, I couldn`t resist placing. Looking forward meeting you next week
  5. (cracked) copy ?
  6. many thanks for you email Cecil, hope you received my answer fine. Also wanna say hello to you on here! Just like Steve said, I sincerely hope all will be fine with your wife very soon again. ATB Marc
  7. Thats the along Paul´s posting one of the better thought about answers... as the question was "Is Stardust a legit label" and not "are all Stardust records boolegs or not". The label is/was a legit and official label operating from/via Canada for obvious reasons. So the answer is yes, a legit label. Its been run by an old and if I remember correctly blind man. They started out releasing classic hit records just like the Troggs and what you have and added Soul releases later on. Wethere these were all legit I can not tell. Marc
  8. the guy who once gave me a carver of this did get these (the carvers) as a trade against one other good unrel. acetate back in the day... Marc
  9. legit...but not a soul-only label. Used to be more a general "Golden Hits" re-release kinda label. It stopped operatinga while ago if I remember correct. Marc
  10. are you, thats amazing indeed ! Its strange how sometimes the rarest tracks are known to most whereas great "common" stuff like this gets overlooked. Maybe I should cover up my old Islys on Wand then This is a great tune in both versions...Jan from HH played it at the anniversray warm up this month. It had me screaming from the other end of the bar "Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
  11. out of interest was it really legit, seem to remember it was one-sided only ? Doesn`t have "I Let A Good Man Go" on the flipside though, does it ? Marc
  12. In fact Benji, it is a regular column he is doing for manifesto. but anyway, my answer was targeted at the comments about Tim not having rare 45s (!) and furthermore if he has them not having the balls to play them out. This is really ridiculous and to say sth. like that about a man whose collection (and dj box although he more or less finished deejaying for now) is among the top three in the UK/world when it comes to Rare Soul is very strange...to say the least. I am not saying I like or think its funny to watch how Soul Sam and Tim Brown are having a go at each other via their publications...maybe they do laugh about it themselves behind locked doors. But this has nth to do with the above made comments. Marc
  13. temperature is around 175 UKP and rising..

Beside that he has a knowledge about Amercian Soul Music so deep that leds me believe he sure has forgotten more then most of us will ever know.. Marc
  15. I was quite surprised to find out that a lot of people incl. English fellas after hearing said tune in my online mix last year asked me for said tune as they didn`t know it. Always thought it was quite a "classic". Having said that, some copies are around and in good hands over here in Germany. Regular spin for the last couple of years.
  16. thats cheap buddy, I bet if you bring that one to "Wir Sind Soul" tonight they will snap it off you quicker then anything!
  17. JM did auction one a month ago for 130 UKP They are also to be found on Astra with a beauty of a record... Here they are in full swing
  18. yes, desirable and definitely 4 figures but it did go for 2700 USD which is over 1600 UKP. So that did indeed surprise me. If you try to sell a three figure 45 on here you will see big signs of recession soon. But as I said, despite the copies Chris and others have found...stilla very rare and desirable 45 of course. Just wouldn`t have expected it to go that high (in these days) though.
  19. recession and the fact that there have been more then just only this one find by Chris Anderton would have made you think it won`t go that high. Then again and as I said above, the very limited amount of interesting high end prices are responsible for higher end prices on selected items at the moment.
  20. amazing, isn`t /wasn`t it ? lately I noticed the phenomenon that due to numbers being down on interesting high end items on ebay(for several reasons) individual prices have gone up and tend to be higher then one would have thought. good for the sellers and fair enough.
  21. fabulous tune that I just gave a spin at last sat anniversary night...got a spare if anyone needs one. 35 UKP.
  22. "Don 't Let It Happen To You"
  23. strange, I was pretty sure I did post them results earlier today already..anyway, here they are: Montclairs 601 Sandy Wynns 422 Syng McGowan 176 Marvelettes LP 73 Patrice Holloway 161 Tony Troutman 263 Stemmons Express 350 Greater Experience 572 Benny Harper 296 Lovers 1221 John Simmons 211 Four Pro's 198 Debbie Dean acetate 242 Gene McDaniels 78 Smokey Robinson 210 Georgie Fame 112
  24. Pete, to put something in brackets is not indicating a lie it is simply indicating a quote... A Big name DJ (no brackets used now as I already indicated my quoting once before..) I would imagine is also one of the guys and gals who are on top of the game. Therefore I would imagine they should indeed have an eye on almost every possible source incl. ebay for new stuff. IMO. So thats reflecting my thoughts on your point made. If not it seems as if its just another case of "you are only as good as your main dealer is..." That goes to explain why I couldn`t understand that a big name DJ wasn`t going to buy it off ebay when it was there for over a week for everyone to see and hear. And thirdly, the most important thing indeed, its simply not a very good record IMO. And far far from being the most perfect Northern Soul record ever...I mean, come on..really. All only IMO and no need to feel offended at all. Good luck with it to whoever bought it. Seriously.
  25. exactly. I am amazed to learn that a "big name DJ" pays more than 2500 UKP for what is a very cool backing tracking with lyrics so poor they make even James Duncan `s 3 little pigs sound like the cream of the lyrical crop. Also makes you wonder why the new owner did not decide to buy it at 500 USD plus when it was on ebay with a soundfile when most of us decided to leave it. More then 2500 UKP is more then 8 times as much, so bearing that in mind it was indeed obviously a very good find..
