Not all correct but to name just two: The late Boba was the first to had unearthed Emeralds on Vick, United Sounds by Greg Belson (fun fact I had Mark alongside Greg as guest DJ`s at one of my anniversaries when Greg not knowing Mark was playing the US as a C/UP dropped the needle on it with all DJ`s in the room rushing to the decks to see what it is. Mark was sitting next to me...the look on his face was priceless LOL

I bought mine (still have it) for 20 GBP in 1989 which worked out at 60 DM, a hell lot of money back then (for me) a full tank for my ride did cost south of 10,00 DM...

Seconded mate, the tune had sth like a cult status amongst the first German Soul generation, the KENT educated one. First time I heard it "live" was then in 1989 @Leighton Buzzard allnighters, sounded awesome in that huge hall. Demo here since decades and one that will stay with me till the end..

Credited to the Fortune Tellers (45) and Showstoppers (Jerry Ross acetate). Interesting article and heres some add. showing their first incarnation (same line up) as the Fortune Tellers. They cut two 45s between 61 and 63 - what always puzzled me was that their 61 release has them as Fortune Tellers (on Sheryl Rec.) where on the og studio acetate they are already billed as "Showstoppers"... six years before they actually released as the "Showstoppers" ! However, the acetate clearly shows a strong and much earlier connection between the band and Jerry Ross, predating the Heritage release by seven years ! John Fitch not only wrote "Houseparty" but as their backing band guitar player also did a lot of touring with the Showstoppers incl. their UK tour. This tour not only generated the Showstoppers Beacon 45 release but also a release of a very nice John Fitch 45 which got some interest from the few upfront venues & DJ`s in the recent past.

Theres been a copy sold on discogs for shy below 2K where the seller assumed high possibility of the copy being a repress. Maybe he`s referring to that..

I also own the St. Louis pressed 45, Shifty`s old copy when he sold up.

Thats right mate, Gold Star. The Marvelos except for their very last 45 (on Modern) only ever recorded for and on WB or its subsidaries Reprise and Loma. As one of them 4 tracks later found its way on to a WB 45 flipside ("Yes I Do") my guess is that these four tracks were done as rehearsal for the WB executives to decide wether they take the group from its soon to close R&B subsidary LOMA to the mother label for greater exposure. Feel free to post the snippets if you like. Some other LOMA connected tracks are by a group called the Fabulous Dynamics who went on to become the Soul Shakers. One of them tracks is an early work on "Somethings Burning".

You know what - "It's an OK record but never one that I find exiting to play home" - really hit the nail on its head. I just thought to myself in all that maybe 15, 20 years I have (and love) said record..it never ever found its way into my always changing dj box. So yes, a good record but not good enough in teh sense that there are trillions of more outplay worthy tunes out there. Having said that and reading what others said about its flipside I will give THAT another close listening the next days. Must say I cant remember it.
