When i first joined Soul-source my user name was Soulqueen1 as it is my e-mail addy ...........and i thought i would join under that sudo as not to let others know I also had 2 brothers on here who know quite a lot about records and stuff and really didn`t want to embarress them but once i had got into the swing i came out the closet now i bet they wished i hadn`t cause i can talk a lot of B**ocks some times Julie

  7. Some good honest answers there my friends I personally would`nt know a Boot from the real thing but that doesn`t stop me from caring i truly wish i could have followed in my brothers footsteps with massive record collections but unfortunatly I never could but I think I know whats right & wrong and i may have to take the advise my elder brother gave me recently while i was In spain I have a lot of admiration & respect for the decent dj`s who do go out there and look for all these gems that i can go out and have a bloody good listen & boogie too thankyou one & all Regards Julie x
  8. 10. Thought this thread was about "playing a boot at a venue " not a personal attack on Mr Such Just like to say 1 thing about mr Such .................."you do need to get some modern in your blood" Sorry off-topic
  11. Ey Up Wondered why my ears were burning Hi Nick regards The not so little Julie moore ( sister of DAVID < MICHAEL< PHILIP< KEVIN & CHRIS )
  12. Absolutley Not I try my very best to go to venues that have a OVO policy, not that i`m a collector or anything ( I leave that to the big lads ) im just a music loving punter Ive seen first hand the effort put in of ppl travelling all over the show to bring us these gems, also the hard saving some do to reach their ultimate collections of original , W/D etc ...........you may well think what the f**k she on about ? in a nut shell this is my vho ...............If I pay £10 to get into a venue which states ovo i expect to get what it says on the tin or i may aswell stay at home and play the boots which YES i have.........hense the saying "anyone can be a dj"if i can be gaurenteed ov i would be prepared to pay £20 to listen to them Thats my pennyworth Regards Julie
  13. I likey very much Julie
  14. Thats quite true Chalky, In the years gone by I too didn`t realise Motown has such an array of music but i was soon banged to rights on that one but i do think they should specify state what sort of motown it will be as i for one wouldn`t like to go and pay to listen to "Baby Love" its ok doing the housework to

  22. Ive been to lots of do`s that have had maybe 20 ppl in .................if its what you wanna hear its the Dogs B*llocks beats going to a do with 300 in and it being S**t
  23. Unfortunatly Lou , that is the scene of today .............so many styles coming into it ............its not just banging northern anymore ........there is rare, underplayed, oldies , you still got the jazz funky stuff ,remixes on remixes, Modern soul, the list goes on & on. more dj`s popping up having a go ...........no disrespect to any of them .but it was great in the days when you got really really excited going out to listen too the big names out there. And the punters seem to change ........E.g I was at a soul do last week and i was talking to a chap in the main oldies room we were disgussing the dj who was on and i made a comment that some of what he was playing couldn`t possibly be originals ...............his answer was "doesn`t matter if its on cd its still a great record" .................but maybe thats another thread ........but thats my point in MVHO it will get worse before it gets better i can`t myself see the youngsters of today wanting to get into the scene .but you never know............ I have grown up children 2 in their 30`s who had Soul music as a way of life when they were younger .....they bloody hate it now . I go to quite a few across the board nights now as i too love all the aspects of the soul scene and people do change their taste in music .......Some people on the scene do stick to their own and think their stuff is the best and slag the rest off and the venues you attend .............i say let them i know what i like and until i get pissed off with it all I`ll keep doing what i do and enjoy doing it I suppose thats the weird and wonderful world of Northern soul Regards Julie
