  2. Sorry to say but some of the worst graders are UK based Soul Source sellers. Never had problems with US sellers.
  3. Happy to see that it's not just us Germans lacking sense of humour
  4. Picked this up recently and was wondering is it worth anything? BILLY PRESTON - THE MOST EXCITING ORGAN EVER - VEE JAY LP (Demo!) Looked up on Popsike, the UK press on Sue fetches a bit. Vee Jay issues seem to be pretty cheap. But what about a VJ demo? Any ideas? 15 quid, 20?? Ta, Benji

  9. List updated. Shep Grant back on list as deal fell through. Drake & Ensolids added. Anyone?
  10. Would like to make a podcast using my mp3 files. Can anyone recommend any software that automatically creates a podcast from a playlist of mp3 files? I downloaded VirtualDJ but it's not what I wanted. I want something where I can compile a list of songs in a certain order and the software automatically creates a mix podcast from that list. Anyone? Thanks!

  14. Search Soul Source for Alan Godfrey. Plenty of topics about that bastard c*nt
  15. Never really liked it either, no matter what mix. That's the reason why I traded the test pressing. Don't think I ever played it out more than 2,3 times.
  16. I take it you know it's the very same recording, it's just the 45 fades out earlier.
  17. What I tried to say is that there's only the one test press that is proper. any acetate/dub in circulation isn't legit. My own acetate isn't too but at least came from the same source. Chalky, do you think RCA gave permission to Ady to cut acetates of all the unreleased stuff?
  18. What I meant to say that it was cut off the master tape. Whereas all other dubs were cut from tape recordings in circulation.
  19. to be precise: one sided 12" vinyl test press on german RCA. Came with sound engineers notes why it failed to pass quality control @ RCA in Cologne. If you listen closely to a good quality recording you hear some sound distortion about 2/3 into the song. test press is of the supposed A-side of a Blackrock LP that never came out. test press of the B-side exists too but is of no interest to soul fans. Any acetates/dubs apart from the test press are bogus. My own 10" acetate came from the same sound engineer but was custom cut for me.
  20. You're pretty close Richard. Very slow but with a beat. Bit like Modern Soul's answer to the 60s beat ballads (but a tad slower). Not to be confused with "2step" that was popular 10 odd years ago (Craig David etc.).
  21. Legendary producer/arranger Claus Ogermann moved back to Munich in the mid 90s. Brought a basement full of 1960's records with him and sold most of them to local dealers for peanuts. One of the dealers ended up with the 7". I was one of the first to go through the lot. And I said hello to 25 count boxes of Lynne Randell - Stranger in my arms - Epic P/S and Shawn Elliott - The joker - Roulette W/D. Bought them for a few Deutschmarks each and sold/traded most to UK dealers. Infact, I financied two trips to the 100 club that way. Before anyone asks, of course he had boxes of Tony Middleton on Mala and MGM too. Plenty of demos and issues. But some c*nt tipped him off that a local Jazz dealer ripped him off and he refused to sell them to anyone.
  22. Philly Groove release is slighty different mix to original I recall.
  23. Never really got into the "pretender" side but always loved "picture" ever since I heard it on a SKM tape almost 15/20 years ago. Wasn't it a big cover up for Gary Spence in the late 80s/early 90s.
