  1. I agree, it's not only the trophy tunes that are good. But the other hand most of today's cheapies aren't good either. Why? Because the quality tunes that are around in quantities aren't cheap any more. Records get more and more expensive. Years ago you were able to pick up good records for a fiver or even less. Same records are 15/20 quid now, or even 30. That's not cheap IMO. The vast majority of tunes for a tenner or less are crap.
  2. ok, back on topic: why do cheapies not sell anymore? maybe, market for cheapies is saturated? or collectors don't want the "common" stuff because of some strange kind of one-upmanship? problem is, the majority of those "cheapies" is cheap, because they're not very good. period. they're average or even worse. some of them records do sell because they're either on a collectable label or by an collectable artist. but most cheapies aren't. what do you think?
  3. Did a short Google research. Shreveport, Lousiana native. Teamed up with his brother to form the Anderson Bros. Same group as on GSF?
  4. Len, 30-50% more likely but depending on the tune. The dearer the more you'll get back.
  5. Bob, where I live 100 pounds is a considerable amount of money.
  6. Stereo take on the album. Sounds much better than the 45.
  7. multicoloured Eddie Forster and Sam Fletcher are both boots. They do look great tho.
  8. Just my personal opinion, but I think Toni Ross is awful. Terrible record. Obvious why this is so rare. BTW, I'm sure I'll win the lottery tomorrow so Professionals, Sandy Golden, Cautions and Jackey Beavers will be mine. Don't bother to bid.
  9. I thought he gave that one to his tax accountant as a "thank you" present? Or is that urban myth?
  10. Marc, can you post a scan of Brenda Holloway?
  11. I interpret it as a well known record that remained a one-off for the last 35+ years ("The world’s RAREST Northern Soul Classic ORIGINAL having been a ONE OF A KIND 45 for near 4 decades."). So not just a record in an usual format/press/label design. I wouldn't put my money on it, but maybe something like Living Color instrumental as mentioned before?
  12. I just compared both releases. Pretty obvious, Starville is first press.
  13. or spanish, french, german, whatever 45. Probably everywhere around the world except US of A.
  14. Baz, don't drink and post.
  15. None of the records you mention deserve such a pre-auction hype (IMO). My money is on a well known Northern oldie on a format that nobody knew it exists (yawn). On the other hand, something like the alreaday mentioned Diane Lewis c/up on a proper release copy, yummy yummy.
  16. Dito. Which one came first, by the way?
  17. No it isn't. "Galveston bay" is on the Wants List CD.
  18. I guess Stefan is Stefan Anderson?
  19. Old favourite of mine. Is this a first-time on CD? BTW, it's just "cold winter..." not "cold cold winter..." even tho he sings "cold" twice.
  20. I'm with Marc, IMO it's only urban myth that some posties open mailers, take out the record and re-seal mailer in a way nobody notices it. Unless somebody proves otherwise my bet is that in all these "empty mailer" cases seller didn't send the record just the mailer, deliberately or not.
  21. Easily £100+ these days.
