  1. Don't think any of them were pressed?
  2. I still like the LP. All but one tune (Eddie Hollad- Outside looking in) unreleased. Sound quality differs but most tracks play quite good. My favourite track is Angel Doll by the Temps. PS: Never reached vol.2
  3. Don't know about Rob, but Chris was involved. And yes, it's on the LP.
  4. Thanks, much appreciated!
  5. Eventually managed to find vol1 and vol2 of the Marriott's Detroit tapes. Vol2 is missing the original inlay, just a typed tracklisting, here it is: Connie Van Dyke - Don't do nothing I wouldn't do The Metros - Since I found my baby The Lollipops - Loving good feeling Arabians - Please take a chance on me Bob & Fred - I'll be on my way Martha Starr - I'm lonely Jimmy Ruffin - Don't feel sorry for me Four Gents - Young girls beware George Freeman - Down and out Sea Shells - Quiet home Appreciations - It's better to cry Soulettes - Bring your fine self home Four Voices - Your love is getting stronger Gwen Owens - I lost a good thing Magnetics - Heart you're made of stone Jackie Beavers - Love that never grows cold Steve Mancha - Did my baby call Gwen Owens - Mystery man Diane Lewis - you ain't got a chance Lee Rogers - Sock some love power to me Lorraine Chandler - Tell me you're mine Emanuel Laskey - Don't lead me on Rose Batiste - I just can't leave you Melvin Davis - I must love you Debonaires - Loving you takes all of my time Doni Burdick - Bari track I know some mistakes among them, i.e. George Freeman and Diane Lewis C/up aren't Detroit. But great stuff nevertheless Here's a scan of vol1's tracklist:
  6. What I heard I sure did. Thing is, I don't really have the time to play podcasts online. I usually download them and put them on my iPod to have some entertainment while commuting. And I'd like to know what I'm listening to hence my request for a playlist.
  7. Nice one, many thanks! Any chance of a tracklist that I could add to the downloaded mp3 file for my ipod?
  8. I ounce bought MIke & Ray on Giant described as WOL. Turned out it's signed by them
  9. IMO not really that much rarer than the issue. but quite valuable seeing the price for the issue these days.
  10. I used to dislike Buddy Smith, mostly because of his lisp. But now I think it's a really great record. Very basic production, amateur-ish but so ambitious and soulful, I love it.
  11. Is the other version the one w/out the address underneath "Paree records"?
  12. My figures were incorrect, I did it with a ruler where most of the scale was hardly readable. A different ruler says 10mm ballad side and 12mm on the uptempo side. Makes sense, Heaven is 2:40 and My admiration for you is 2:55
  13. Here's a scan of the Heaven side. As you can see paper is not as grainy as on Pete's scan. And it's different toward the middle. As said before I can't explain that in english. (I didn't bother to compare the label's colours as one is a scan and the other one is just a picture of the label)
  14. Pete, labels look different to my original. It's hard for me to explain difference in english. I'll post a scan, that's easier. But what I noticed, run-out groove is about 14mm wide on the Heaven is in your Arms side. and about 10mm on the ballad side. Can you measure the run out groove on your copy?
  15. It isn't a Banksy. Just a nice stencil mural.
  16. Timi Yuro is that expensive because it's the only way to get it on legit 45. It's chased by UK 45 collectors and US 45 collectors. Whereas DB is of interest only to the UK posse.
  17. Not that many trophies on auction this week IMO.
  18. Is there anything on the label/in the runout groove of the mispress that's different to the correct press? Or do you literally have to play it to see if it's the Admirations or not?
  19. Orange? Never seen that one before. I had the silver one and a quick Google search revealed there's a golden one as well. But no orange..
  20. Now that this thread moved all the way from London's 100 Club to down under, one question: How many soul 45's were issued in Australia in the 1960's?
  21. Paul, I'm wondering how you ended up with two sets? I mean, considering your age, did you have a senior moment and bought it twice? anyway, b)
  22. Before this thread got tons of "look what I got back in a soul pack in the 70s/80s" posts. How about limiting it to say within the last 20 years? That would be much more entertaining (IMHO).
  23. SPYDER TURNER - I CAN'T MAKE IT ANYMORE/DON'T HOLD BACK - MGM (DEMO) £40 Shit-rare demo. WOL/SOL on both sides but nothing too heavy (see scans). Vinyl looks VG+ but plays at least VG++ (see clips of both sides). There's some tiny and very mild vinyl discolouration on both sides. Only to be seen when you hold the record at a certain angle. Looks like faint white mist if you know what I mean. Definitely 100% NAP! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ worldwide P&P from Germany: standard £3.20/signed for £5.20/Fully insured (EU only) £7.00 Paypal preferred, as gift if possible. Bank transfer in EURO zone possible Spyder Turner - I can't make it (clip).mp3 Spyder Turner - Don't hold back (clip).mp3
  24. I seem to remember there's a mistake on the Capitols' album as well. It quotes "Let it all reach out" as unreleased whereas it was released as by "The Four Bros".
  25. I guess you refer to the styrene bootleg? I can confirm there's a vinyl bootleg. Looks very convincing until you play it. You can hear it was dubbed off a scratchy record.
