  1. awful.
  2. Lou Johnson version is obviously a demo (IMO). So it's not really comparable to a fully orchestrated song like Roy Hamilton. I think RH's voice fits such a big city beat ballad much better than LJ.

  4. Great article about one of all time favourite records. Many thanks! I'm probably mixing it up. But I seem to recall that the Philips Intentions were an earlier incarnation of the Magnificent Men. Andy Rix has/had an acetate of a later Mag Men record that is credited to the Intentions, "It's got to be love". Scan here. I think it was Dave Bupp who confirmed that they were basically the same outfit?? Sorry if I cause any confusion. It was 10/15 years ago when I read that.
  5. I ain't talking about just the OSV demos. But demos on reissue labels in general. You got Nabay on Grapevine. I assume on issue. I'm sure you would upgrade it to a Grapevine demo, wouldn't you? I've never been interested in any Outasight release and I guess I'll never be. I just question the general opinion that the OSV demos are fake and were never meant to be used for promotion. And speaking of promotion of reissue labels in general, is Paul Mooney still on here? He'd be able to tell us a bit about why G2K pressed demos. And how they distributed them.
  6. Believe it or not. These reissue demos might not be done for Soul Night/Allnighters DJ's. They might be done to be sent to Radio DJ's, reviewers or maybe just "key faces" to get the Northern Soul public notice the eventual releases. Just a thought...
  7. Can't see anything wrong with demos of legit reissues. E.g. G2K sent out advance promos or even acetates to raise interest for the eventual release. And I agree with Dave, from a collector's poin of view they're more desirable (that if one collects reissues) as there are usually less copies made.
  8. Funny that. Because I think Stop and Think is among the most tedious Philly dancers of all time. I know it's rated highly by many. But to me it's almost a in-case-of-insomnia-play-this-record-and-fall-asleep-instantly record.
  9. Is Chubby on London 1589? Then it's a reissue from 1976.
  10. I'm confused, always thought there isn't a US 45 release for "my hang up"??? Or was it for "I'm your pimp"???
  11. Didn't you sell Tony Colton end of last year?
