  8. IMO, the term "mass market" only applies if the target audience for all these products. is much bigger than the actual worldwide Northern Soul scene. I.e. are any people outside the scene actually buying all this crap? Then it's correct to talk about a mass market. Or is just the scene flooded with these "products"? Then it's more like trying to milk the last drop of milk out of a (cash) cow.
  9. I'm pretty sure someone just photoshop'd title and artist in a scan of Capitol 5969 (Patti Drew) to use it in the YT video. Edit, here's the video Robb refers to:
  10. I think you can buy a few Gene Toones for 4K.
  11. Thanks Billy, that's the kind of reply I was hoping for. Hammie, do you consider any of your plays underplayed? Or just solid quality oldies?
  12. I'm seriously not trying to troll but which ones of your plays do you consider underplayed? I'm really curious...
  13. Nice one, thanks! BTW, although it's taken from german TV from about 8 years ago the actual gig was Montreaux Jazz Festival back in 1969
  14. Sorry, that's dutch, not german. German one looks like this (WD in this case):
  15. Please close it. Labeat's stubbornness is unbearable. There's a link at the bottom of the topic, reads "Moderation". click on it and choose "lock".
  16. BILLY JONES - I'LL KEEP HOLDING ON/I'M THE ONE - DECCA (GERMAN, P/S) NM £40 SOLD Lovely euro-only 70s dancer. Never had a copy in such great condition. I doubt this was played more than 1 or 2 times. Small "R" stamp on back of sleeve. Front is clean (see scan) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ worldwide P&P from Germany: £3.20 standard / £5.10 signed for / £7.90 insured (EU only) Payment Paypal only. As gift if possible but not necessary. Please PM for details.
  17. I like all versions posted. Such a great song, excellent lyrics and a haunting melody. But to me, Spyder Turner is by far the best. It epitomize Northern Soul. Lyrics, production, voice, just perfect.
  18. No need to wait. He and it made 464. Do you still think 700 is minimum?
  19. I certainly disagreee. Some real heavy tunes on auction (in all three sections) but quite a large number of records that are surely non-auction items (IMO). E.g. latest additions: Phil Terrell, James Bounty, Big Frank, Jordan Bros, Detroit Gold LP. None of them should be auctioned. They're set-sale items.
  20. Oops, am I being boiled?
  21. Sorry, but that's just a lame excuse. If you want to play LP and stick to OVO you have to play them from the original not from a carver. There are small LP boxes available. Sturdy ones for about 10 LPs. Not too heavy to carry around. Edit: when I was dj'ing I used this one here. Good for up to 25 LPs/12": https://www.bestellung.musictools.de/koffer-cases/lp-koffer-fuer-25-lps.html
  22. IMO much more important than having a passion for collecting is having a passion for the music. I practically stopped buying records. But not in a million years I'd stop listening to soul music.
  23. That MGM label looks a bit odd, sort of empty compared to the US ones. Are the canadian ones all like this?
  24. Oh so true.
  25. I feel the same. Once the buzz is gone it simply doesn't make sense to keep on buying.
