Sure, that's the purpose of a forum. But as soon as the name Ian Levine is mentioned folks seem to forget it. It would take only one post to turn this into another anti-IL bashing. And there's no need for that.

Is there really a need for this thread? Neither are the packs advertised on Soul Source. Nor is IL a member.
  4. Exactly. It was after he gained custody for his daughter, BTW. Saw him live twice. What a performer and a true gentleman.

  6. From what I remember it features same delta no. as the originals. Does that mean original stampers were used?
  7. Don't mention the war and don't mention funk, my pet hate (funk that is). Drink's on me.
  8. Not for me. Heard it at clubs often enought. Below average record.
  9. Now this is confession time: even Butch plays some crap inferior quality stuff sometimes. Period. As much as I like to hear new things, most many of today's newies aren't any good. (IMO). I look forward to the Bamberg weekender to be proven otherwise.
  10. Milton James is crap IMO. Rarity over quality.

  13. Benji replied to Tatty67's post in a topic in Record Wants
There was a thread about it a few years ago. From what I recall, 70s recording done in New Mexico after Valvano moved there. I still love it. great tune.
  14. Nice cover. It's a 70s release. Ties in with the other european releases when they issued in the UK in 1976 due to Northern demand. Also came out in germany in 76 or 77, although that sleeve isn't half as nice.
  15. An acetate of the instrumental exists. Keb Darge had it about 15 years ago. Don' t know where it is now. From what I rememeber it was a bit different to the released mix.
  16. Funny, that assumption that all those folks paying over the top for pressings are DJ's. You're sure about that?
  17. Reason was that going by the posted playlists it looked to me like Main Room policy is Northern oldies. That's why I asked. Thanks for the info.
  18. Just wondering, what's the main room music policy at Rugby?
  19. Benji replied to Simon T's post in a topic in All About the SOUL
I know that genre. That's Gospel played in Australia, isn't it?

IMO, "upfront" is more describing a dj's attitude and eventually a venue's music policy. There's not one single record in the world I'd tag as "upfront".
  21. Yes, same as Sam & Dave. It sounded so familiar but couldn't make the link between CD and S&D Must have had a senior evening. I said I couldn't find anything about the track. Well, just a basic Google search away is a YT upload of it. It says "Demo Made In 1966 Recorded And Produced By PIERRE TUBBS". So I guess LP-only track.
  22. JM is just 100% pure quality. Vocals, production, backing, everything just perfect. That's probably why so many want a copy. basic formula: demand > supply -> $$$$$$$$
  23. Just picked up a copy of a early/mid 70s Carl Douglas LP on german Bellaphon. It features his UK recordings from the 60s and was obviously released t cash in on the success of "Kung-Fu fighting". Among the dross, the quality and the mediocre is a really stand-out track "You don't know "what I (know)". Very raw and simple stomper. I love it. Does anyone have more information about it? Did it come out on 7"?
  24. And me please....After Dave.
  25. About 15/16 years ago a local radio DJ asked me to play some Northern Soul in his predominantely Indie Rock show. After a few tunes he asked me live on air why I was listening to this kind of music, it's "dull and sends him to sleep". Now that was annoying....
