  1. Chalky is spot on. I first heard it in the 90s on a "cheap but quality" tape. Plenty of copies around back then. What really puzzles me, it's not really good. Nice backing but the shrill lead singer is really annoying. At least to me.
  2. ok, thanks. Didn't see your follow up question last night and was wondering this morning if I was just imagining what I had posted
  3. Mike, what happened to the Touch of Class post in AATS? It appears to be gone w/out any trace....
  4. also done by chic carbo on revue a few years later. much slower though.
  5. To be honest I don't really get it. These two unknown tracks were unreleased? But they are known and were played? Off acetates? Any chance of some audio clips of them?
  6. Please no down talking of "What can I do". This is one of my alltime favourites According to Wikipedia Freddie Perren moved to the west coast in 1968. So if Sonny Parker was an east coast production it was before that year. For the time being I stick to my theory, mid 60s recordings/release. For what it's worth I find "Mr romance" awful. I've been seeing this on playlists plenty of times and each time I ask myself why.
  7. Someone ( @Chalky ?) posted a comment today in the Discogs entry of Sonny Parker. Suggesting this might be a 1973 release based on the fact that the b-side "What can I do" was copyright registered in 1973, whereas the a-side was registered in 1965. In my opinion, it's rather unlikely this was released in 1973. It would have sounded very outdated by then. The commercial success would have been zilch. My theory, both sides were recorded and released in the 60s. And that the b-side wasn't registered before 1973 for whatever reason. Any thoughts on that? There are some stamped matrix details in the run-out but they don't indicate neither the pressing plant nor the release date.
  8. The way I understand it you can edit an auction text only when no bid is placed on it. He had added the bit about it being a 2nd issue very early in the timeline of the auction so maybe even before the first bid was placed?
  9. Omen was part of A&M records. And allegedly Brice Coefield came with an A&M company sleeve originally. So not unlikely one's brain can play some tricks and gets you thinking it came out on A&M.
  10. Yeah, but only for the karaoke night down at your local
  11. Any idea how the french Googa Mooga and the canadian Stone release tie in timewise? Discogs says 1968 for both and the first issue on Ashford.

  16. Gilly's book was published in I think early 2021. And what a damn fine read it was. Or still is.

  20. You're sure it's not the M.B.'s (As in Modern Blues Sounds) on B-Jet?
  21. Very likely to me that Charly lists Levanna as an artist just due to technical reason (website database), e.g. Discogs lists compilers like Ady C as artists as well. Levanna/Abby and her mom wouldn't be the first one or even currently the only ones trying to exploit the scene financially would they?
  22. Wanted: Tail Feathers - Now Ain't That Love/That's The Way It's Gonna Be - Uptite 252 Must play fine, either label variation fine with me. Please PM me. Thanks!
  23. Honestly, I don't believe you. Maybe you got some dates mixed up. Make up your mind was first as 100 club 45 in September 1998. Do you really think it's possible they got hold of the 100 club 45, dubbed it for their bootleg in the same year? Highly unlikely. Brooklyn Born is Rich Rosen.
  24. As english isn't my first language I'm prone to mishear english lyrics. Like you it sounds like "Is it jane" to me. But it wouldn't make sense. Anyone care to explain who's Jane?
  25. The unsold stock haul was first and yes sold via Rich Rosen in 1997/1998. Few months later Rich started to list these infamous pressings of Kissi Jacobs, Johnny Watson and probably many others I can't remember right now. The Ringleaders, Towanda Barnes and San Francisco TKOs bootlegs turned much later.
