Interesting charity shop find, Pamala Stanley Canadian?
Benji replied to a topic in Look At Your Box
Doesn't mean anything. There's a seller on here who repeatedly states a certain record is "german only release" however it's actually a dutch one. I saw a better quality scan of the auctioned record, it wasn't a german release. Compare the label design of the Wilson Pickett 45 posted here to the design of the Popsike one. You'll find many differences, even given the fact the Popsike scan is of low resolution. And then there's the numbering system different to other german releases etc. etc. bla bla bla. -
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes "get Out (and Let Me Cry)

Thanks to you and Roburt for pointing out french Vogue release was done after it charted in UK. It's listed way too often as a genuine 60s release. Like Chubby Checker - You just don't know on spanish London, another 70s release. -
Poor mix. Horns way too prominent. From what I can hear the backing vocals are alright but way too low in the mix. And the song doesn't go anywhere. Don't know what the other side is but I sure wouldn't keep that record for just this side.

The one on Popsike isn't a german press, it's US (from what I remember). It was recorded in Germany, that's correct. -
Chalky, these Recordshack test pressings are just a piss take and as you say, exploitation of the market. As is offering them for up to 4 times their retail price here on SS. 50+ TP copies made of each title and available for the price of a regular issue if just shop around a bit.
-
Not a silly record by any means, but there's another French record on a Canadian label that got spins at the Mecca: Sammy Gaha - Thank you, thank you.
-
Yes, of course the UK strings version. However, now I'm not sure which version it is on Tamla. It's 3:15 according to the label. My german Fontana (strings vers) copy states 3:11. I just looked up a JA Harry J recording (i.e. no strings) on Youtube, which finishs at 3:15. Puzzled.
-
Probably the later string version. It was released all over Europe so an US release is not that much of a surprise IMO. by the way, speaking of rarity. 4 Tamla copies available on Discogs, as low as $3.00

Had such a great time there and heard some fantastic records. Back home I knew I just had to dedicate my next podcast to that weekender. So down the stairs into my shelter I went and pulled out a selection of tunes that either got played over the weekend or would have fit in quite nicely. Luther Vandross . Are you using me . EMI UK 12 * Jamie Lewis ft. Chance . Street life . Purple Music 12 * Philly Cream . Motown Review (12") . Fantasy WMOT 12" James "Bootie" Tuten . This is a love affair . Ultimate 45 William Bostic . That's what you do to me . SOR 45 Blacksmoke . Sunshine, Roses and Rainbow (D) . German Casablanca LP John Edwards . How can I go on without you . UK Kent Promo LP Garfield Fleming . Don't send me away (12") . D.Trax 12" The Whatnauts . Help is on the way (12") . Harlem Int. 12" Carol Anderson . I found love . Coup LP Randy Brown . I'm always in the mood . Parachute LP Starvue . Put the BS aside . Midwest LP Numonics . You lied . Hodisk 45 Tommie Young . Hit and run lover . Soul Power LP Bobby Sheen . Something new to do . Jamaican WB 45 Tommy Tate . I can't do enough for you baby . Record Shack 45 TP LaVern Baker . I'm the one to do it . Brunswick LP The Ohio Players . Love slips through my fingers . Trip LP Freddy Butler . That's when I need you . US Kapp LP The Ovations feat. Louis Williams . I'm in love . MGM 45 Lillian Dupree . (I've got a) Shield around my heart . D-Town 45 Jon Lucien . Would you believe in me . RCA LP Karin Jones . Ready, ready love . Handshake LP Vaneese & Carolyn . Goodbye song . UK Expansion compilation (I played both at the very first weekender in 2001)

In my opinion we have to differentiate: - Common records that are in demand and sell for a rather huge price - Common records that used to be in demand and are still listed for a rather huge price. However I doubt they sell. - Common records that are of such a quality that almost everybody wants them. Hence the price. Jack Montgomery on Scepter being a pretty good example.

KOOL BLUES - CAN WE TRY LOVE AGAIN/I WANT TO BE READY - CAPSOUL (VG) £200 Had this for many years now in my DJ box, time to let it go now. Labels clean, vinyl plays fine with a few crackles and pops. Perfect for djing. ------------------------------------------------------------ worldwide P&P flatrate from Germany: £3.50 standard / £5.50 signed for / £7.50 Fully Insured (Europe only) Payment Paypal only.

Linda Jones - Fugitive from love/Fugitive from luv
Benji replied to Benji's topic in Look At Your Box
Thanks! -
Does anyone know if Linda Jones' "Fugitive from love" on Blue Cat and "Fugitive from luv" on Cotique are the same version? Or different versions? Thanks Benji
-
Yes, that's correct. IL is behind this. But I'm talking about who had them pressed for him and who's distributing them.
-
Swirl in the ink just like all the other recent lookalike pressings. I have leads to where these presses come from but can't reveal them until I have some evidences.

yes, general paper glue. When you use a liquid one make sure not to use too much of it. Otherwise record and its inner sleeve may end up glued to the album sleeve
