Had another longer bike ride this morning, 2/3 or even more were fields, woods, dirt roads etc. Besides the dragonflies I mentioned before I also saw countless butterflies. Mentioned this thread to my wife the other day. She's command-in-chief of our yard and she told me that there are much more bees than last year. How I wish to say that insect wildlife is getting better in general....

I agree, overe here (bavaria) much less wasps than in years before. Not that I mind though. On the other hand I've seen quite a number of dragonflies on my cycling trips. Don't think I'd seen so many in one season ever before.

I think It was mentioned in the sales blurb for one of the new releases that he‘s behind them or some of them. And speaking of Levanna: No idea how much she really was involved in them, but both compilations promoted under her name are excellent. Quality across the board choices. Hope they sell well.

I said "ordinary kitchen towels, e.g. cotton". Paper towels are just as bad. They also can leave tiny little bits of fibre residue in the grooves.

I can't believe the *** that people write about cleaing records either Ordinary kitchen towels, e.g. cotton, can leave fibre residue in the grooves. Hot water can harm your vinyl. Use microfibre towels and warm water instead. I get pretty good results in cleaning vinyl and styrene from using a hand-operated record washing machine like Pro-Ject Spin. But setting it up makes sense only when you got more than a handful of records to clean. You can easily mix the cleaning fluid that comes with these machines yourself. 70% distilled water, 30% pure isopropanol and 2-3 drops of dishwashing liquid. Pour a bit on your record, spread it evenly. Clean the record using a microfibre towel. put the record aside for a couple of minutes to let the cleaning fluid evaporate. Done.

I bought both mid 90s after Derek Pearson recommended them in SoS. "Didnt know how to" was 15 quid, "Don't know about you" 25. Plenty of copies around. I sold for 75 and 100 in the early 2ks when I thought price had peaked due to the number of copies around. Not one of smartest decisions.

It was a huge record on the continental mod scene in the mid/late 90s. As was Timebox.

Had my reservations when I read the opening post. Expected to see the same 3/4 figure tunes listed "as usual". But @Mal C listed a nice varied list that gives a good impression of what "modern" tunes are played these days in the UK. And many cheaper tunes among them. And it includes a few surprises as well like Ogletree Bros. Seems like it finally got the plays it deserves. Ah well, biggest modern nighter sounds. How about Jackson Sister - I believe in miracles? Even though it's been played as a new release it seems to be as popular as ever.
