  1. I guess there are two dominating types of Manship auction customers: a) collector, not really affluent but prepared to pay over the top if a long-standing want comes up in the auction. Might be aware of the general increase in price of a record he bidded on after the auction b) collector or wannabe DJ. pretty affluent. Bids whatever it takes to secure a trophy record. Doesn't care about the influence it might have to the market if he pays 5x the current market price.

  5. Provide evidence that Stardust is legit, simple as that. Just one thing I noticed, if they really licensed all the tracks, why didn't they state that on the label? Stardust and its sister label Underground Records are of very questionable legitimacy. And therefore as long as nobody proves otherwise I consider both to be bootleg labels.
  6. If you think Stardust was legit you also believe Santa is real.
  7. Edit: I shall not commend on active auctions.
  8. I like the last sentence in the first clip "Next release will probably be from the Dynells". Almost like the owners of the label didn't have that much faith in their enterprise.
  9. anyone know if there is any other record using the E. Rodney Jones Peace of mine backing?
  10. To the owners of Tucker Bloom or Zomo bags: Are these bags soft cushioned only or do they also have a stiff inner frame in the padding? Reason I'm asking is that I think these bags look quite bendy. I wouldn't trust my records wouldn't break.
  11. Is this forgotten?
  12. I never get tired of listening to this:
  13. probably an acetate of this US "reissue" from the 80s/90s: https://www.discogs.com/de/Linda-Jones-Rudy-Andrews-Hypnotized-Casanova/release/12330731
  14. This thread is about forgotten Wigan monsters sounds isn't it? I doubt any of the records you listed are forgotten.
  15. Is there really a need for that? This forum is about music.
  16. you're right. The link I posted leads to a different dutch release. Seems like you got a pretty exclusive record.
  17. Searching for it on Discogs took me less time than you opening a new thread for it Yes, it's rather rare: https://www.discogs.com/de/Mel-Tormé-Comin-Home-Baby/release/10694595
  18. Instrumental instead of vocal version. Labels wrong way around. What next? Seems like somebody at a canadian pressing plant screwed it up big style.
  19. ZZ is ~125 more likely. Check Discogs. Pages was in huge demand couple of years ago and people paid ridiculous amounts for originals and pressings. So don't be surprised if you don't get as much for the pressing as they were getting back then. Problem with the pressing is (IMO) its worse appearance and sound quality. It just looks, feels and sounds cheap.
  20. Sorry. It's on US Dakar. But it's gone anyway.
  21. OTIS CLAY - YOU HURT ME FOR THE LAST TIME/BABY JANE (EX) £70 SOLD wonderful midtempo crossover sound b/w pounding uptempo R&B tune. Comes in original company sleeve ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Paypal only. Worldwide P&P from Germany: £3.60 standard / £5.90 signed for / £7.50 Fully Insured (Europe only)
  22. Back then many pressing plants offered generic label designs to their customers. The customers had to supply only the respective details and choose a font. So I'd say that quite good looking background was chosen by a few different customers of the very same pressing plant.
  23. to be honest, I don't believe the story that the backing is a re-recording. Let's look at it from a economic point of view. What's cheaper? To license the backing track and record new vocals over it or to have Mike Terry flying/driving all the way to Toronto, working hours and hours in the studio, arranging the backing band, hiring all the musicians, etc.? I never noticed that the backing tracks of Precisions and EP are different. But I'm not saying they are not different. So, accepting you guys saying there are subtle differences, how about this theory: Someone in Toronto heard the Precisions record, licensed a backing track from Drew to record new vocals over it, the guys at Drew sent over a tape but sent an alternative take by mistake. What you think?
  24. Sure. But that was pre-Manship guide and I didn't know about that back then.
  25. Nothing wrong with using plastic outer sleeves for 45s. As long as you user a paper inner sleeve as well and don't use the poly-lined inner sleeves! Even when stored in a rather damp environment I never had problems with the plastic sleeves for 45s. Unlike LPs. Some tend to get tiny mold spots on the cover when stored in a damp environment. I guess that depends on the colour the used for printing the covers. However you can simply wipe off these spots. No serious harm done.
