Demos and test pressings of new releases are giving the buyers a fake feeling of exclusiveness IMO.
-
Only tiny little bit similar in parts IMO:

Thanks. Didn't know there were orig 12". Only recall the represses from back then.

Picked up many bargains on Ebay over the years but there's one that I always remember about 20 years ago. One morning before going to university I logged on Ebay, looked at the 45 listings. There was a french Seven Souls - I still love you, buy-it-now €2, with pic sleeve, listed just 2 min before. Of course I bought it. Turned out seller was living close to me in Munich. Picked it up the same day on my way to a soul do. Sold it same night for €250.
-
I too thought the 45 came with the LP. But it was discussed here on SS not too long ago. There's no documented evidence the 45 was handed out with the LP.

I just checked on Popsike. 4 Larry Allen copies since May 20, different sellers. All four figures in $. One L. Allen copy, again four figures. So JM price is not that far off.

Norma Jenkins was pressed in the 80s or 90s. And comp'd a couple of times. so it had exposure to some extent.
-
sorry, not a good record IMHO. wouldn't play it out. the sweet flip is awesome.
-
thanks for the tip. It's not even listed there. Which confirms that it is indeed pretty rare. But doesn't really help me with getting a fair value for it. Last documented sale on Popsike for a Brownstone 45 was in 2018, 211 GBP. No Brownstone sale after 2018 on Popsike or Discogs.

No one??

I disagree. It's a nice version. But pretty obvious the song is not in his favourite vocal pitch if you know what I mean. It just doesn' t really suit him.
-
Proven rarity on Accent's sub-label Brownstone. But haven't found any document sale for a copy on Accent. Anyone any idea of value for an Accent 45? Many thanks!

Only record I wouldn't set sale but put on auction is Una Valli.

First heard "listen to me" when Guy Hennigan played it on a Great Yarmouth weekender radio show, 90/91-ish. Covered as by the "Flights of Fantasy". Took me years to find out to what it was the b-side....

After buying thousands of records from all over the world I have to say that the worst graders are UK sellers. Period. Especially Northern Soul sellers.

Wanted to keep collection complete: 6t's 40th Anniversary 45 from 2019 Carolyn Crawford/Mickey Stevenson Reasonable price paid. Please PM. Thanks! Benji

As mentioned before this is a classic on the scooter scene. It's been a huge record at least since my first scooter run in 1989. Infact, along Melba Moore's Magic Touch this is a "in case of empty dancefloor break the glass and play this" type of record. Can we move on to another record please?
-
Has this ever been played out? Is it known?
Benji replied to Soul-slider's topic in Look At Your Box
a couple of copies sold on Discogs since 2018. Last few copies M- indicating a new old stock find. Going by the number of people looking for it on Discogs, 210, it's not unknown. But no idea to which scene it is not unknown. Soul collectors, Garage collectors? I think it's just average. Not allnighter material IMO. But maybe the YT doesn't do it any justice. I could imagine it sounds much better played out loud at a dance. -
No it isnt a soul record. Just a crap pop record that happens to have the right beat and, to make it worse, a haunting chorus. I loathe it.

A "flawless" copy went for 200 quid on Discogs in Sep 20. So JM's achieved price is not that far off.
