does anyone know the history behind this one? is it correct that it's an previously unreleased instrumental "beefed up" by soussan? i quite like it and would like to have it on first/original format...

that's probably the (allegedly) original version "joel diamond experience" on casablanca, i got it on 12" not sure about a 7" release...

i always thought shep was james shepperd of shep & the limelights fame? the group split in 1966 so a solo release for him in say 66/67 could have been possible ....

is this an issue copy then? my copy is on a white capcity label, is it a white demo? doesnt say so on the label. and which one is rarer? i'd say the pink one... TIA benji PS: great record BTW!

some pressings read "diamond mind - suppliers of soul" on the label. anyone know what this means? is this some sort of bootleg distributor? or a play with words as it sounds a bit like a well known UK "reissue" label?

john, click here, scans of both labels at bottom of page gene, glad you're still happy with it. i sort of got bored with it, had it for quite a few years and i think i played it only a couple of times...

VG+ in reggae terms, that's like straight out of the frying pan seriously, if it plays ok w/out major clicks or scratches and only minor surface noise, name your price... PS. off topic but as you're selling soul and reggae discs, are you using the same grading standards for all records or do you use different standards? and speaking of standards, is there a seperate record collectors grading system for ska and reggae discs? (i've bought ska discs "graded VG according to RC system" and they were more like G-!)

on a tape from an early 90s weekender radio program i have guy hennigan playing it covered up as by the salvation army band. he also played the esquires listen to me covered up as by the flights of fantasy (or something like that). BTW, can send quality scans of a- and b-side (instr.) if still required.

john, unless someone stands up and confirms that it was pressed by XY in say 1978 due to demand, your description reads not like original and counterfeit but more like 1st issue and 2nd issue done by the label owners. maybe the record did sell well on release and they pressed another say 500 copies?

if you mean proper R&B tracks played on the scene, i'd say stuff like richard berry - have love will travel little walter - my babe charles sheffield - voodoo (this is a late 50s recording, isnt it?) are among the oldest played. but oldest 'proper northern' tracks? how about jimmy ruffin on miracle? 61'ish...
