  1. Croatia camping site back in 2019. Lovely outdoor bar right at the sea. Usual sundowner background music was electronic Ibiza style chillout sounds. One night, for whatever reason, they played 60s Detroit Northern and Motown for well over 2h.
  2. Didn't know the tune before I played the soundfile on Seb's auction. It truly is a great tune. Begs the question why this was never released. Surely not for lack of quality.
  3. Nice to see the album get a release eventually. I did find a german RCA test pressing of the album (two one-sided 12" TP to be precise) along with the sound engineer's notes. From what I recall according to the notes, sound quality of some tracks (incl Hold On) weren't meeting the minimum standard. The album never came out. I got the test pressings from a guy in Cologne who claimed to be the said engineer. Don't know if it's true but what I know that he had access to some if not even all master tapes of the album. So pretty likely he was. Is the digital release an official one?
  4. @Soulsearch sorry, what's your point? I re-read your post again and again but don't get it.
  5. Safe to assume it's an error in Dave's listing: Charles Hodges Slip Around is cat no C-168. BUT matrix no is 185-A (same matrix no as Jean Wells on C-185).
  6. orange and white RCA labels are too different releases, they have different catalogue numbers. master number is the same.
  7. I prefer the first released take, the Sidra one. As it happens there's a lovely white demo of said tune spinning on my turntable while I type , great double-sider.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if the alt take is on all three CD compilations. It happened before that one UK label released a alt take from the master tape and "by miracle" same take appeared again on other compilations.
  9. The "throat clearing" version rings a bill. I remember it from many many years ago. Way before the Outtasight CD release. Either I had it on mp3 back then or its on the Totally Solid Hitbound (Goldmine) or Northern Soul Years (Joeboy) CD compilation. Sadly I no longer own them. Can anyone confirm it's on one of them or even both?
  10. User comment from the respective Discogs entry: This is right at the pinnacle of deep Soul music. State-of-the-art. Bit overexcited in my opinion but yes I'd agree to the extent that it's a great deep soul track.
  11. Check Discogs for more details about the boots.
  12. At least three different WD boots are out there. But none of them are STERLING stamped.
  13. Neither can I. What a fantastic tune it is. And much better than the a-side IMO.
  14. Understood. Thanks.
  15. Iif account is closed how come he logged in 50 minutes ago?
  16. BILL BRANDON - WHATEVER I AM I'M YOURS - MOON SONG - 250€ ono SOLD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lovely light blue issue. Plays great, no scratches. Two "x" on ballad flipside label. Can send pictures if needed. Payment Paypal only. F&F preferred but not mandatory. Tracked shipping €10 anywhere in the world.
  17. Just played it via youtube vid, didn't know it before. You're spot on. great flip side. I can imagine the lowrider collectors going mad for it if they haven't done already.
  18. The issue I once had was styrene. Discogs lists two different promos. Both are styrene.
  19. Soulettes fantastic but way too fast for dance floor action IMO. Haunting tune.
  20. Art project by artist Adele Retter. The clue is in the URL. Pretty obvious to me. And well presented. Some of you obviously didn't get that. Must be an age thing
  21. very sad news. He passed away on Sep 26: https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/olivette-mo/jason-koenig-10379451
  22. Didn't know the record shown in the scan (Cherry Slush - I cannot stop you) came out on Prophonics Coconut Groove. I only knew of it as a USA release. It also came out in Germany. I wonder where they licensed it from? USA? Surely not from Prophonics Coconut Groove
  23. It's a great double-sider. For me Sherilles side wins. What a tune. Gets better with every play.
  24. as far as I know dimples in the vinyl can have two reasons. Either the stamper was faulty, then all copies would have the very same dimple(s) at the very same spot. Or inferior quality vinyl was used. Then dimples may have resulted from dust or something like that in the hot vinyl. As some of you have fine copies and others haven't I guess second reason is appropriate. On the other hand, if all faulty copies have dimples at the very same spot then there were two presses. One with a matrix from a fine stamper. One with a matrix from a faulty stamper.
