  1. ANOTHER BUMP! response has been surprisingly low ... are my discs crap or what ... if you don't want to trade cash offers on most discs now accepted as well ...

    A Few Wants

lots of copies from all over the world around, search ebay. it's on there every week...
  3. BUMP! only modest response far, come on don't be shy ... lots of quality discs looking for a new home ... and just to make it clear: I don't want to trade them as one lot so if you're only interested in one record that's fine with me ...
  4. Ok, then. Let's see if it works. I got the following 50 records that I think, need a new home. What i want to do is, to try to trade them for either discs from my wants list (see below) or any other nice Northern, R&B,Popcorn, Crossover, 70s disc. What I don't want is to trade 1 of my records for 2 or more other records if you know what I mean. So either 1 for 1 or 1+x for 1 (does this make sense? ) If you're interested in any records please drop me a PM or email here and I'll get back to you with more details about condition, (realistic!) value, etc. TRADES: Atlantic 3296 - Ace Spectrum - Keep holding on USA 840 - Amanda Humphrey - Power of love Glades 615 - archie bell & the drells - Ain't nothing for a man in love Old Town 1000 - Arthur Prysock - All I need is you tonight baby Jetstream 804 - Barbara Lynn - Take your love and run Variety Italy 10089 - Brenda Lee Jones - You're the love of my life/Thread your needle Piedmont 078 - Bill Brandon - The streets got my lady (reissue) APT 25018 (WD) - Bobby Hamilton - How come Sure-Shot 5013 - Bobby Williams - It`s all over/when you play you gotta pay Cyclone 75002 - California Rock Choir - Whoever you are ABC 11378 (WD) - Carl Carlton - You can't stop a man in love CapCity 107 (WD??) - Chancellors - All the way from heaven Toeholt 1361 - Chet Davenport - Can't get over you Boom 60016 - Dean Parrish - Determination Gamble - Dee Dee Sharp - What kind of lady Cortland 112 - Donald Jenkins - Somebody help me Vir-Ro 1001 - Exportations - I want you ABC 10567 - fats domino - Packin' up Good 337 - G.D. & The Big J - Movin' on Wand 11281 - General Crook - Thanks but no thanks Pye Germany 30117 (PC) - Geno Washington - I've been hurt by love J Gems 1046 - Gracie Dumas - Song of a woman 20th Century 6671 - Groove - Love (it's getting better) Calla 158 (DJ) - J.R. 5. it was first issued on CD so the 7" is a re-issue isn't it? tho it's a "first-on-vinyl issue" and it seems to be legit as well, quote from Tim Brown's webpage: "...I remain the licensee for Shrine Recordings ..."
  6. well, I thought it was around 20-30 on SPQR? Manship has "working for my baby" on New Faces @ 25, is that a different track?
  7. this was absolutey hammered here in Munich earlier this year. Couldn't and still can't stand it, IMO too much of a gloria gaynor "I will survive" blue print two brilliant cheapies that I used to play and that always got the punters dancing: Lenis Guess - Working for my baby Five Stairsteps - Don't waste your time
  8. No Both copies didn't even have watchers for whatever reason...
  9. ok, then. it's not that rare but not common either. so how about 30 GBP? anyone?
  10. Picked this up recently out of curiosity but even after a few plays I still don't know if I like it or not so it got to go: Brenda Lee Jones - You're the love of my life/Thready your needle - Italian Variety A-side Northern Soul classic but flipside is a nice R&B dancer if you don't know it.. VG++ condition, plays pretty well. Must be very hard to find, never seen or heard of that release before I bought it. Don't know really what price I shall put on it, any reasonable offers? I'm not looking for silly money!!
  11. Something similar happened to me earlier this year. I sold a Garage 45 to an US guy. Almost three months after I posted the record he contacted me, said he just got the parcel, opened it and the record wasn't really in great shape. He said, he could send me photos. Told the guy that there's something fishy about. I mean, he waited for at least two months for the record and wasn't worried if it ever turns up? Told him to return the record and if he's right I will refund. Guess what? Never heard from him again Never trust any photos sent! It's so easy to to make the picture of a record looking like the record's snapped in 100s of pieces or scratched beyond believe.
  12. Seconded, Kenny Roberts is pure Northern Soul (with emphasis on Northern and less Soul ). Bobby Vee is nice, full orchestra production, but a bit cheesy and much slower than Kenny Roberts.
  13. Roger, thanks for the research , must be shit-rare on issue? In an old issue of Shades of Soul was a picture of the letter that originally came with the YOP demos. Wasn't it from the then vice-president of USA?
  14. I asked the seller about those "repros", as I knew the belgian scene had booted some tunes back in the 70s but never knew about boots of Freddie Houston, Marva Josie or Douglas Banks. All "repros" are simply carver jobs with laser printed labels glued on.
  15. Was wondering are there any issue copies of either release of "of hopes dreams and tombstones"? It came out twice on white demos, one "Youth opportunity program" and one by "Jimmy Fraser". The first one I understand was never meant to be commercially available but what about the Jimmy Fraser release? Has anyone ever seen a (presumably red?) issue of it?
  16. I think it was Marc Forrest who said in another thread that there were plenty of copies around in Germany. It didn't ring any bell for me but after I've seen that scan I confirm what Marc said. I picked up plenty of copies over the years and sold them all to UK collectors. Didn't know that it never came out on 45 anywhere, always assumed it was sought after because of the picture cover! (now where's that head-banging-on-the-wall emoticon when you need it? ) Other euro-only 45s that I can think of now are Archie Bell - thousand wonders - Spanish Atlantic Four Tops - Helpless - French EP Jackie Edwards - I feel so bad (duet version) - French EP And i think the greek release of either Frank Beverly-If that's what you wanted or Dee Dee Sharp-What kind of lady was a different mix not issued on 45 anywhere else??
  17. a mate of mine used to play this version for a couple of years. I like it from a freakbeat point of view. but as stated before Jimmy Fraser is much better...
  18. about 25-30 seem realistic. as it took me almost two years to find a copy in nice condition (most copies i found were VG or worse) I guess it's much rarer nowadays than people think ...
  19. I put the Impressions for 6 quid on here but no takers . I'd be interested in one of Sons of Robin Stone. Could you drop me a PM once you've decided on prices?
  20. Yes great album by a great group. I know one of their 45s is not on the album. does anyone know which one?
  21. As I haven't DJ'd anywhere since our "Deeper Shade" do ended in April, I don't have any Top 5 Hot Boxers, sorry! By the way, I've seen I made an error in my previous post: I did say "Apparently it changed over the last two years and going by the number of different clubs I see Hamburg as some sort of "hot spot" of the german soul scene" but I meant "Apparently Obviously it changed over the last two years and going by the number of different clubs I see Hamburg as some sort of "hot spot" of the german soul scene"
  22. the US one is on liberty as well. Posted about the album before in this thread but seems like nobody reads my postings
  23. Ralf, fine, your guests don't give a damn about rarity/price/etc. of a record. so do guests at most other german venues. but this ain't a discussion about the punters. this is about foreign DJ's, e.g. german DJ's. When I was still traveling and attending german soul dos, it seemed to me that most german DJ's were not playing to the punters but were tryting to impress the "imaginary" english knows-all-soul-music-collector if you know what I mean. And that's why I stopped going to german soul venues, I got better (and more entertaining) things to do in life than that. Apparently it changed over the last two years and going by the number of different clubs I see Hamburg as some sort of "hot spot" of the german soul scene but unfortunately Hamburg is too far away for me to attend one of your parties in order to re-establish my faith in the german scene. Anyway, I disgress. This is about current top 5 hot boxers. so, any more lists anyone?
  24. sorry, don't know what it's worth nowadays but i got a lovely DJ copy I'd part with for a reasonable price if you're after a copy.
  25. said "repetitive trophyism syndrom" is the reason why I can't be arsed about "our" (i.e. german) scene any longer. Glad to see that other continental scenes don't suffer from that disease (or suffer to a lesser degree). I always found the italian DJs very refreshing and imaginative in their selections.
