  1. Hi everybody, need some quick valuation for a record deal that will take tomorrow morning. Can somebody please give me realistic values for: Chris Clark - From head to toe - UK Tamla-Motown 624 (VG+ condition, sticker on flip) Charlie Romans - 24h service - Hickory W/D (original, EX condition) Is about 30-40 quid each fair? TIA Benji
  2. Uptite is NYC (the yellow label that had Tail-Feathers on) (The "Superlatives" Uptite label was Philly as far as I remember...) You remember right, thats why I added yellow label that had the Tail-Feathers on... Yeah I forgot that, there were two different Uptite labels. The "Superlatives" one was Jersey (not Philly), the other one ("Tail-Feathers" and "Ronnie Goodson") were NY. I mixed them up as both labels had releases in yellow and blue. Then there was 3rd Uptite label (e.g. "125th St. Candy Store") which I don't think was connected to the other two, at least the numbering system doesn't fit in.
  3. Uptite is NYC (the yellow label that had Tail-Feathers on) (The "Superlatives" Uptite label was Philly as far as I remember...) Unart is not the same label, its a subsidary (am not too sure about that but you're probably right) Tac-Ful I believe to be NYC thru the Roosevelt Grier connection (hew as from NYC, wasn`t he ?) (Tac-Ful is Hollywood, Cal. At least that what it says on the label) Jet Set was NYC...maybe people get confused because of the Eddie Singelten/Washington connection...? (Andy Rix' article on Shrine mentions that E. Singleton leased some tracks to Jet Set, that being another local DC label, doesn't it?)
  4. 50 Max IMO. Came out at least in USA, Canada, Netherlands and Germany because I've had or seen copies from those countries. Not rare at all just sought after
  5. hm, never really took noticed of who wrote my fave tunes but will do in the future. Not in soul music, but in general the best songwriters were Bacharach/David. Period.
  6. I know nobody was ignoring me intentionally but was simply a bit pissed off that other (IMO pointless and/or boring) threads have 100s of replies. Anyway, thanks for the confirmation of value. Am thinking about posting it in the sales section but would like to put a realistic price on it first, don't want to put it up for offers unless I really don't know what it's worth.
  7. Fantastic list! yet I found some entries that might be not correct: goldwax (Memphis) Jet-set (D.C.) MGM (LA?) Spokane (Detroit?) Tac-ful (California) Tangerine Record Company (TRC) (pretty sure it was West coast based) Unart (same as United Artists) United Artists (pretty sure this was West Cost based as well, at least UA itself was from Hollywood) Upfront Uptite (Philly? or DC?) wayout (ohio? Or is this a different way out label) What do you think?
  8. I'm happy that they ignored the result from the vote as otherwise I would have missed some brilliant footage of WC and wouldn't know what it was like. I know loads has been written about the Casino but a picture's worth a thousand words as they say..
  9. thanks for the info. do you think 10-20 is the market value for a demo? searched the internet and I did find all sorts of prices for demos, from 75 (vg+) to 175 (m-). But I dont know if it actually sold for these prices...
  10. alright, I give up. 42 views and not one fu**ing single reply. Seems like I'm under a "no reply to that krautsville bloke" spell or so Guess I would have 100s of replies had I asked which oldies you like to listen to while having a dump...
  11. From a legal point of view it's against Ebay rules to end an auction because you can sell it for more somewhere else (especially if you already have at least one bid). That's what I meant. And I assumed that that was the reason in Tolberts case. I was always pissed off when auctions I placed bids on were ended early. But after I was offered an amount 3x higher than the going rate for a record I had on Ebay, I now think different about it. That's life, there's always the next bargain somewhere waiting for you...
  12. unfair? YES illegal? YES uncommon? NO happens all the time, try to get over it. have a brew...
  13. BUMP! 20+ views and not one reply???? can at least somebody please have a look in the latest manship guide and confirm that it's 200 for the issue???
  14. Just picked this up in the states but can't find any info about it: The Other Ones - Stop - ABC 10793 (WD) Fairly obscure Righteous Bros soundalike dancer, nice one IMO. Anybody with a realistic value? The issue apparently goes for 200, this is a Monarch pressed west coast demo. Rarer? Or Cheap as chips? TIA Benji

  16. I don't think that the red/white releases are later pressings. There was a very good article about Way Out in Shades of Soul. The later, multi-coloured releases were nationally distributed (by MGM I recall?) and since most of the earlier releases did quite well, the label owners had the funds to invest in re-designed multicoloured printed labels. quite simple to me...
  17. I don't about the first few copies that came on the market, but the first large batch was sold by that Las Vegas dealer who also sold all these Prix stuff, was that Rich Rosen? Ebay ID Brooklynborn or so?
  18. Betty Everett "Too hot to hold" as well...
  19. Thanks but that's not the track I was after, see previous postings. Anyway, managed to secure all my wants so I close this thread.
  20. bought that, thanks!
  21. The term "xx known copies" is a relic from the pre-Internet days and has no real informative value for me now. It used to be some sort of evidence for me back then (pre-Internet, i.e. mid 90s?) when it refered to the UK Northern Soul scene only, as the collectors scene was rather small and well connected. So if you had a rare record you asked around and if you hadn't found another copy in say 2-3 month you could say you had "the only known copy in the UK", wasn't it like this?
  22. that looks really nice ... anyone got one of these Challenge sleeves for me? It would look fab with my W/D of Charles Lamont
  23. I think you mean Charles Lamont - I got to keep movin on Challenge?
  24. I know what you mean in this context. But if I search the internet for info about a certain record and I find little or no information at all, I think it's safe to assume that one is chasing a pretty rare/obscure record, isn't it?
  25. No, I already knew that some people have more money than brain cells
