You're playing Wham 45s at venues? What's the most popular one "wake me up before you go-go"? Seriously, playing a vinyl record gives a haptic experience you just don't get from CDs. Period.

Hm, well, yes, it's my site But the scan on my site is in far too low quality. I used to have the picture sleeve many years ago but didn't scan/colourcopy it when I sold it and now I have a sleeveless copy that begs me to be put into a nice picture sleeve.

maybe worth mentioning that these aren't different mixes they are different recordings (to my ears at least). The Blackwell take has strings in the backing during the intro and an all around fuller arrangement. the Justis take sounds "emptier"

the wrong version of TMP is the flipside to "blue autumn" on the german 45 so I assume it's the wrong version on the album as well.

yes the "Justis" arrangement Funny thing is, I bought the UK issue as part of a collection two years ago. I never actually played it assuming it would be the same version as the german issue. A friend of mine used to play it off the german issue for years and I never really liked. Last night I played the UK issue for the first time since I bought it. It didn't really blow me away but I can understand its Northern appeal now, nice record.

Rough estimate but I guess almost every track on any Goldmine CD was dubbed from a disc. Only exception might have been the Detroit stuff that came from Ron Murphy and some of the later Thelma/D-Town compilations and tracks from major labels that have been released on other label's CDs before. The early Goldmine CDs were fantastic and like many others introduced me to some great new sounds. Later on the quality of the compilations decreased and many tracks appeared on more than one disc (very poor research IMO). When I was told that Goldmine is not that much into paying royalties or at least licencing a track I avoided to buy any more Goldmine releases. To sum it up: I can't be arsed that Goldmine went bust.

just for the record, my german issue plays the "wrong" version

well, the cheapest one I found for sale on Soul Source was 130, then the next two were 150 and 180. But the only one that was marked as "sold" was @200. Deducting Paypal fees and postage from what I want for my copy it works out @ 130 for the record itself which I think is a very good price. If anyone comes to the Frankfurt weekender this saturday I can bring the record with me. Anyone?
