  1. Don't be that hard on them. It was just a petrol station giveaway.
  2. Last copy on Discogs went for 400 quid in June 22. And the one before in May was $650. So there are infact people paying these prices. However, the copies before these two sold for 250/300 quid max. So there seems to be a rise in demand from whatever part of the world.
  3. Many thanks Sebastian! No idea why I couldn't find it. Anyway, reason for asking I was quite surprised to see this auctioned as a Soul or R&B record. Both sides are plain pop IMO.
  4. Can somebody please post the item description for king size Taylor on UK Polydor? I couldn't find it on JM site.
  5. Yawn! this was covered countless times....
  6. Most prices seem to be in fact really reasonable in today's price climate. Was the Chancellors 45 the issue? This is a good price if it was the issue. Which Willie Tee press was it? With or without piano?
  7. Don't know if this is actually true, but was told that the jamaican rocksteady trio Three Tops is called Tree Tops on a handful of releases because somebody gave the printers the release details for the labels via phone. And how do you pronounce "three" in a jamaican accent? Tree.
  8. Wow, never seen or heard of a pic sleeve for c. mcphatter before. Any chance of a nice scan of it?
  9. Royal Esquires and Dream Team another two examples....
  10. complete set of 37 CDs available for GBP 120 incl. shipping to EU and UK. Anyone? Please PM me.
  11. Both Belita Woods on Moira are hard to find in better condition aren't they? Am surprised a bit about some of the records mentioned in this thread. Had couple of copies each over the years of Harry Deal and Freddie Houston, all EX or better. Never noticed how hard to find they are nowadays in acceptable condition. And yes, that records as ballast for ships is just urban myth.
  12. Complete set of all Grapevine 2000 CDs ever released. Plus the very first two CDs on Soul Junction from 2005. All in all 37 CDs, all in great shape, no broken cases, scratched discs etc. Infact, two CDs are still sealed. Each disc goes for 5-10 GBP on Discogs but I have no idea of price for a whole set so any reasonable offer welcome. Postage is €15.99 within EU, €26.99 to UK Please contact me via PM. Offers in Euro only please. SOLD
  13. https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/430357-complete-set-of-all-grapevine-2000-cds/
  14. sure, was about to that later today anyway.
  15. There are 35 on Grapevine 2K and the very first 2 on Soul Junction (Ron Henderson, Tony Cook). So 37 in total. Yes, I want to to shift them as a job lot. No idea of price yet. Also depends on buyer's location as I have to factor in postage costs from Germany. If anyone's interested please PM me. It's a lovely collection of some great music. All discs in excellent condition. And desperately seeking a new home....
  16. Hope this is the right forum. I have a full set of all CDs Grapevine 2000 ever released. And I need to shift them all for some reasons. Is there any market out there for them?
  17. If I miss out on any new limited release I want I'll see if the label offers download. I'd rather pay a few bucks to the label for the mp3 than buying from any greedy re-seller.
  18. There's this neat little website called Discogs, which has most (if not all) the details you want. Ever heard of it? https://www.discogs.com/de/master/525244-The-Soul-Twins-Quick-Change-Artist-Give-The-Man-A-Chance
  19. Had to google "avarice" (english is not my native language) but I fully agree with you. Greedy sellers want as much money for their records. Were as (as it seems) there are many buyers out there who are so greedy to get certain records they are willing to pay way over the actual price. And it seems, those greedy buyers are all on JMs mailing list
  20. From what I remember he said his aim was to own every US soul 45 released in the 60s covering all tempos not just uptempo/northern. And that's how he came up with the 10k estimate. Just a gut feeling but I'd say that "classic" 60s northern on US 45s are in the very low 4 digits. 3000 maybe? Include other 60s 45s from other genres that "crossovered" over the decades and you may add another 1.000? Please note: I focused on the 60s 45s.
  21. Yes, you're right. I confused the Flaming Ember stuff on Hot Wax with Motown.
  22. I was talking mainly about reissues of the Ric-Tic stuff. I know of Edwin Starr (couple of albums I recall), San Remo Strings ("Golden Strings Swing"), Fantastic Four ("Best of"). Flaming Ember had releases on Rare Earth but I'm not sure without checking if they were new material or previously recorded.
  23. Just wondering, which Ric Tic artists did get releases on Motown after the buy-out? I remember Edwin Starr, Fantastic Four, Flaming Embers and San Remo Strings. Anybody else? Edit: by releases I don't necessarily mean new recordings.
  24. oh come on. you know damn well what "british only" or "uk only" means in this context, don't you?
