  1. Maybe Tim Brown mixed it up with Grand Prixs "I see your face" on Big Mack? That surely is worth 700 quid....
  2. Gentle bump. Record's still here. Very nice double sider for a very nice price and it still hasn't sold. What's wrong with you guys? Do I have to throw in free drinks? PS: Audio clips available on request...
  3. It's a german production I'm ashamed to admit...
  4. Now sorted, thanks!
  5. I certainly agree I said in another thread that IMO Euro releases shouldn't be more expensive than their US equivalents unless they are alt takes/mixes/etc. The "only" differences between the US and the german issue of Joe Kennedy are the latter looks sooo lovely in it's original sleeve and is much much rarer! I understand the going rate for the US issue is about 40 quid so I tried to price to sell quickly. Without any success so far unfortunately...
  6. For sale: Joe Kennedy - Slick trick/Today and tomorrow - German Atlantic (with original picture sleeve) Solid Northern Soul double-sider. Vinyl in VG++ condition. For condition of sleeve and labels please see scans One of the few copies that do not play off center. Without a doubt one the really rare german Northern Soul releases! Definitely priced to sell IMO... 30 GBP incl. p&p. Payment Paypal (no extra fees) Please PM for further info...
  7. Wanted: Gary (U.S. Bonds) - Working for my baby/Send her to me Either US Legrand or UK Stateside or whatever original issue, condition VG+ or better. Please PM. Thanks, Benji
  8. Metrix is about 100-150. You had it on your website in september 09 for 150 and now you list it @ 450 on your site. Why bother to ask on here?
  9. Are these Thorne Modern LPS the "Double O Soul of" or whatever they were called? Two volumes, stuff like Richard Caiton, Carol Anderson or Milton Parker on it?
  10. I usually list my stuff on ebay UK as that's where vast majority of buyers come from. My postage is only about 1.70 quid higher than domestic UK postage so I doubt your theory in a way. Thing is, for certain records that I eventually sell at only about 1/3 of the current price (not the book price!) I have 4-5 or more bidders yet they only place peanuts bids if you know what I mean. My theory is that the market is somehow saturated with classic Northern Soul 45s to a degree. Trophy items, left field pieces (e.g. Popcorn, R&B, funkier stuff) and obscurities being exceptions to the rule.
  11. Really? Why do you think so?
  12. I guess almost every country in the world charges import duty. So why saying "Only in this fecking RIP OFF country would this happen"? If you're going to import goods above a certain value you have to pay import duty and (at least in Germany) VAT. It doesn't and shouldn't matter whether the goods are new or used. We all are or were spending loads of $$$ for records in the US and usually get away with it. So why is it a such a big deal if we get caught now and then?
  13. I once bought a lot of about 100/120 records from an ex-record shop owner in the US. Blokes at the customs didn't really trust the value of $18 on the parcel so they asked me to come to the office and be present when they're going to open the box and examine the content. They took out all the records and went through them one by one to see if there is any invoice or price tags to indicate the true value. They didn't find anything so they just wrapped up the box again, gave it to me and told me politely to fu*k off home. At home I opened the box only to find that each and every record had prices of anything between $5-$15 written on the other side of the sleeves! If the guys at the customs had flipped just one record and saw the price on the sleeve they would have charged me at least 150-200 euros.
  14. I agree that some "trophy" or hot in demanders seem to settle down at more realistic prices. But looking at my recent Ebay auctions I have the feeling that record prices are decreasing generally as well. E.g. Candace Love - Wonderful Night on Aquarius, valued at about 15-20 quid, I only got 3 quid for it. Or Little Carl Carlton-Competition aint nothing on Back Beat. Listed on Soul Source for 35 quid and I didn't even get my start price of 9.99 for it.
  15. Tavares - Either Heaven must be missing an angel or Dont take away were played before they made it to the Top 5, weren't they?
  16. Russ, Ace Records issued a "Westbound Sound of Detroit" CD a few years ago. here's a quote from their website which backs up what you said: "The Westbound and Eastbound labels were the home to many classic soul groups from the late 60s through to the end of the 70s. Their two most successful outfits were The Detroit Emeralds and The Fantastic Four. All the hits and main albums by these two aggregations are already available on Westbound, so The Westbound Sound Of Detroit allows a long-overdue look at some rarer non-album and unissued tracks from both groups as well as the best tracks from others who also recorded for the Westbound and Eastbound stable. As an added bonus, many of the recordings feature the crack Detroit rhythm section of James Jamerson on bass, Robert White on guitar and Richard 'Pistol' Allen on drums. Among the groups featured are the Houston Outlaws (rumoured to be a pseudonym for Archie Bell & The Drells in their immediate post-Atlantic period), the personnel unknown-but-still-fabulous Motivations, the Richard 'Popcorn' Wylie-associated New Holidays and 1 track When I'm Back On My Feet by an (as yet) unidentified artist (which is a shame, as the song is terrific)." I have the CD myself but haven't played it for years, I recall one of the tracks on that CD is an unissed goodie. I think it was one of the Unique Blend ones. Link to CD on Ace Records site
  17. I'm afraid not. Even if I had been old and english enough to actually hear it at Wigan Casino I wouldn't have danced to it. Not a good one even for a pop record. But yet highly collectable IMO because of its relevance to the Northern Soul scene in the 70s. I'm happy with my german issue complete with the ultra rare picture sleeve
  18. Now gone. Thanks to everybody showing interest in it and thanks to Flanny for his posting, what was your share again? 0.5%?
  19. For sale: Edwin Starr - I just wanted to cry - German Tamla-Motown 45 (with original P/S!) Current Motown/Northern monster spin all over the UK. Disc in very nice EX, sleeve in VG++ condition. 100 GBP incl. signed for post and Paypal fees. Very rare original german Tamla-Motown 45 issue. Never came out on 45 anywhere else. Last copy I know of sold for 90 quid but minus the picture sleeve. Any further questions, please PM. Thanks Benji
  20. I seriously doubt that Great Britain is the only country in the world charging import duty on goods from abroad.
  21. On Ebay probably 150+, on Soul Source 5p
  22. Rather generic and very hectic IMO. They'd rather stick to their Funk. If Trouble's "scene" needs to rely on tracks like this it's really in a sad state...
  23. It definitely was played in Scotland at some time in the past. I can remember the playlist for a scottish allnighter printed in Shades of Soul early 90s. Reason why I remember that so well is that ML didn't really fit in with all the US stuff on that playlist. Nice record, very atmospheric but more quality pop than Northern IMO
  24. Didn't know any of the records discussed in this thread I just played all the RefoSoul ones posted. Sorry guys, but they're average at best, most tunes are crap. Have you guys lost your senses for good singers, talent and quality productions on your search for the next unknown record? For example that Buddy Cantrell 45 one is off key, disjointed and all around shite. Phew, now I got that off my chest I'm ready for you to tar and feather me...
  25. For sale: Lot of 25 45s by the Spinners I got hold of a bunch of Spinners records recently and have a few left over that I don't have any use for. 19 US origs, 2 Euro origs and 4 reissues. All but two 45s are unplayed store stock, the dutch and german 45s are nice VG++. Complete list below. Price 20 quid plus postage. If you're interested, please PM.
