  1. In order to get longer tracks on a 45 grooves have to pressed more tightly. This very often ends up with poorer sound quality (low-fi) and very audible scratches even if they are hardly visible.
  2. I guess you mean "New York City Walkers"? Haunting disco instrumental? That's unissued as far as I know. Ask Dave Thorley, he owns it
  3. I'm with you on JDB but not sure about the Cairos, sometimes I think it's ok the next day I think it's rubbish. Personal top three Shrine tracks (that come to mind w/out 2nd thought): 1) Shirley Edwards - Dream my heart 2) JD Bryant - I won't be coming back 3) Ray Pollard - No more like me These three overshadow everything else that was recorded for Shrine (IMO!)
  4. - Boots are getting sold here on Soul Source, hardly anyone is against that. - Most Northern Soul dealers in the UK and Europe stock boots, hardly anyone is against that. Yet you guys say it's immoral to sell boots/carvers on Ebay? Stop being hypocritical! If you guys really object to bootlegs getting sold as much as you say you do, get things going: 1) ban selling boots on Soul Source 2) report every dealer that sells illegal reissues to the authorities
  5. Has anyone played track no.2 "I need your love"? This is The Masters on Crimson. Didn't know Hall and Oates were in that group too...
  6. Nice to see they've included both of the Temptones 45s as well. I'll give it a listen tonight...
  7. As said by Bob, rarest format is the vinyl issue which I'd value at about 300/350 on a good day..
  8. Frame it and put it on the wall, or cut around the label and stick it on your DJ box, or melt it into a nice cup for your beloved ones hair ties (or flower pot if it's a 12"). Failing that I'd really put it into the collection I guess....
  9. All records play graded. For condition of labels please see scans. Postage in Europe £3 regular, £5.05 registered no matter how many records. Outside Europe £6 and £8.05. Insurance available at extra cost. Please PM me if interested. AUDIO CLIPS AVAILABLE ON REQUEST!! VELVETS FEAT. 10. Don't want to hijack this thread but if anybody else is after this, just PM me ...
  11. I already noticed three different ways to get around the free postage bit: 1) 'handling and packaging charge' 2) offering free postage only if you pick up the item yourself. and last but not least the best one: 3) Quotes like "Ignore Ebay's free postage policy! By placing a bid on my auction you accept to pay postage of $...."
  12. Yes it is....
  13. Last bump. Interest shown in a few discs left but non on hold or deals finalized yet. If anybody's interested please note that I'll be on holiday for a few days so any PM sent after tonight or record paid for after tonight won't be replied/posted before early next week.
  14. The bootleg is white label with no lines and no "dj copy - not for sale" text. Every copy that doesn't look like this is an original, (b/w demo, r/w demo, black issue). Samson, I think you're wrong, IMO the one on Ebay is an original. Tho it doesn't look half as nice as a black issue...
  15. Updated again, plenty of goodies left!!!!!
  16. Whoever overpass60 is, he's selling an acetate that was cut in the 80s or 90s and is certainly not genuine. I think in one of the Manship bootleg guide editions it is mentioned as well that NSC wasn't even around in the 60s Chattahoochee3 is Tommy Potts he doesn't sell any bootlegs.
  17. If Wand pressed up copies and destroyed most of them for whatever reason I don't think they did because of a typo in the artists name. Ivorys or Ivories doesn't really look that odd to me if you know what I mean. If they had mis-spelled the title like "Please stray" or so I'd say you have a point. Maybe Wand was premature in pressing copies, the deal fell through and they had to destroy all remaining copies?
  18. Just seen this acetate of Tony Daniels "I won't cry" on Ebay: https://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-NORTHERN-SOUL-DETROIT-ACETATE-TONY-DANIELS-LISTEN_W0QQitemZ310174260237QQcategoryZ306QQcmdZViewItem The scan is pretty low quality but isn't it a NSC (National Sound Corporation) acetate? Said studio didn't open before the 1980s so the record can't be the real deal, can it?
  19. DANNY MOORE - SOMEBODY NEW - ALLRITE M- £50 Genuine ZTSC stamped original. MARVIN GAYE/TAMMI TERRELL - AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH - TAMLA VG++ £20 Plays really fine JUST BROTHERS - SLICED TOMATOES/YOU'VE GOT THE LOVE... - MUSIC MERCHANT VG++ £20 Plays really fine THE KITTENS - LOOKIE LOOKIE - ABC EX £20 SOLD Great Chicago Girl Group Northern EDDIE HOLMAN - I SURRENDER - ABC VG++/EX £20 SOLD Classic AL WILSON - THE SNAKE - UK LIBERTY EX £25 Nice UK original THE SHOWMEN - OUR LOVE WILL GROW/YOU'RE EVERYTHING - SWAN EX £70 Another nice oldie LARRY WILLIAMS/JOHNNY WATSON - TOO LATE - OKEH W/D (W/ PS) EX £100 Without a doubt the rarest format for this oldie, original white demo in the original picture sleeve. How nice looks that? ROBERT JOHN - RAINDROPS, LOVE AND SUNSHINE - BELGIAN A&M (W/ PS) EX £40 Ultra rare origian belgian issue of this popular sound

Last copies I've seen were £60 and £75 SOUL TWINS - QUICK CHANGE ARTIST - KAREN VG- £35 Certainly not the best copy around but plays ok, 'perfect for dj-ing' as they say... THE SHEPPARDS - STUBBORN HEART/HOW DO YOU LIKE IT - MIRWOOD EX £80 SOLD Great double-sider, really lovely copy if it wasn't for the felt tip pen writing on the inner edge of the label.
  21. Destination within EU = customs form not required Destination outside EU = customs form required If you forget to fill in the form parcel might be returned to you. You usually get away with it if sending to a european non-EU country like Switzerland but I'd be rather safe than sorry. Hope this helps...
  22. Whatever way you're going to send it, make sure you'll fill in the customs form and stick that on the parcel. Switzerland is not EU...
  23. Don't know if anybody has mentioned it before. But I already noticed on german Ebay the first sellers trying to get around the free post thing by listing an item "pick up only" and then saying the description if you want the record sent to you you'll have to pay say 1.50 Euro. Another loophole might be that you have to offer free post but you're also free to charge a reasonable surplus handling fee... Anyway, I think Ebay really screwed it up this time
  24. A mate played the LP to me the other night. The LP has many very nice tracks on it, not Northern I'm afraid but more in a swing/nightclub/lounge way, big orchestra etc.
