  1. Just giving this a little bump. I mean, 100+ views and only one reply? What do you guys think of the tracks (probably) not issued anywhere else? And just to point it out: The album is a genuine 1960's release not a recent one.
  2. Isn't the venue still running? We had an intern from Stafford a few years ago and she said it's still open but now called Zanzibars or so??
  3. Here are the YouTube vids. Make sure to play Julius Wright, fantastic track!
  4. About two years ago there was an discussion about a very obscure/rare german 7" on the "RS Schallplatten" label featuring two equally obscure cuts by Gene Middleton b/w The Wilderness. To my surprise I found a V/A compilation simply called "R&B Rhythm'n'Blues" on the very same label a few days ago. According to the sleeve notes all tracks were recorded in Florida in 1969. Tracklisting is: The Lovelles - Here come the heartaches Julius Wright - Things will change Groove Kings - Coastin' Gene Middleton & Wes Prim with Groove Kings - Drip drop Wes Prim - Miss you, baby The Lovelles - I wonder why Gene Middelton - Stop where you are The Wilderness - Good times, bad times Georgia Soul Twisters - Voop The LaShand - All my love Gene Middleton - You need love Does anybody know if they were released anywhere else? I know that Lovelles - Heartaches, Gene Middelton - Stop/You need love and Wilderness - Good times did get US 7" releases but what about the others? And were the 45 releases mono or stereo? On this album all cuts are stereo and sound fantastic! Stand out track is Julius Wright - Things will change. A truly great piece of midtempo crossover.!!! Google search didn't reveal any traces of it being released anywhere else. All I could find was a YouTube by Markus Gora from Hamburg. Therefore I assume it only ever came out on this LP. Three other great tracks are both Lovelles uptempo Northern cuts and The LaShand, a lovely midtempo ballad. I know that Bob A once said he has the Lovelles I wonder why on german RS 7" so I guess it only ever came out in Germany. LaShand seems to be previously unissued. Hear all tracks mentioned on my YouTube Channel
  5. 15/20 years ago I hammered Whirlpool and put it on lots of tapes for other collectors. I'm truly ashamed now
  6. little bump, will leave it for sale for another day or two then it's off to ebay. Open to reasonable offers, BTW!
  7. Thats's a benefit of german releases, most of them came with P/S showing the actual artist.
  8. little bump, will leave it for sale for another day or two then it's off to ebay.
  9. You're right, good old fashioned blue eyed northern! I'd say about 50 quid is a fair price. You don't see that many copies around but it's still relatively unknown isn' it?
  10. Levine did them. Few 100s maybe. Fantastic track that sadly suffers from the "Ian Levine" stigma. I recall the flip being a rather dull IL drum computer instrumental?

  14. So am I. Had a similar discussion with a mate over a few pints. IMO reversed labels are a defect and therefore price should reflect that. He said there's no reason to lower the price of any record as long as it plays ok and labels are clean. In some sort of devils advocate he said it should be even more expensive for being a rare mispress. I certainly disagree with that.
  15. value is fair, it's the one with the very rare Ebay auction title typo....
  16. auctions ending tonight...
  17. Surprised about its price, thought beat ballads aren't really en vogue these days?

  19. Phil, it was booted uncredited (i.e. blank label) on jamaican Coxsone. Flipside was "Carry go home" Justin Hinds I think but am not sure.
  20. no. am serious. thought it had overkill exposure since the P/S press was given away at the LA conference back in 94 (95?). Reissued, pressed a few times. hence I thought people are sick of it by now. but am proven wrong.
  21. And here I am thinking it's an overplayed oldie with little demand for it...
  22. Dave, FFS, this is sales section. If you want to discuss the record, open a new thread. *facepalm*
  23. Great stuff, much better than "Ain't saying..."
  24. Can't disagree with you. But seems like folks aren't interested in making offers. Therefore straight sale: 110 quid incl. insured post worldwide. Paypal as gift +2% to cover some of the charges. Anyone? SOLD
