  1. Advertising a record in this condition ain't no comedy to me. Even vastly overpricing ain't that funny to me, just greedy. But saying " The labels are in VG- condition" when you can hardly read anything at all, now that's funny. I'm sure if there weren't any labels at all he still would grade them G+.

  3. Am not saying Clara Ward is not good but it just doesn't do anything for me. Sorry.
  4. What I like about the record that the monologue version does pretty good when played at clubs. usually spoken intros are not favoured by the dancers in my experience.
  5. Here's a picture lifted off Ebay. Can put up a scan of my own copy if anybody wants?
  6. I have 3/4 german Chambers Bros 45s that are not on your list. Can PM you the details. Can you send me a reminder by PM? I tend to forget things I've said in the office once I'm at home ...
  7. That's where you're wrong. They're legal reissues, not authentic OVO 45's. Authentic OVO means released "back in the days", 1960's in this case. If I'd follow your logic, I could play tracks off CD's if they weren't released on CD before.
  8. Luckey Davis is also Luckey Jamal Davis of "love is better"/"vacate" fame. And yes, it's 1979 and not 1969. I seem to remember we had that discussion when article was published first, hadn't we?
  9. Monticellos must have been huge Spyder Turner fans. "don't hold back" is also the flipside of "I can't make it anymore".
  10. This almost sounds like the way the guys @ dub mart record store in Japan send their 45s. They truly mastered the art of record packing
  11. +1 Didn't know it before. Best male version by far.
  12. Monticellos awful and so is Spyder Turner. This song can only be sung by a girl IMO. Dusty nice, backing a bit overproduced. Pat Thomas too polished. Baby Washington best version, Sonji Clay close second. Youtube search brought up Dee Dee Warwick I never heard of that one before. Probably slowest version, check it out.
  13. there's a decent Ikea alternative to Billy. i think it's called besta or so.
  14. Just because it was a 60s label doesn't mean it was legit. Astra was from Pittsburgh as well and it was a bootleg label.
  15. label scan site was indeed mine. See
  16. My rule of thumb* : max. market value is 50% of Manship price * I know there are exceptions to the rule
  17. looks to me like 'someday' is the hottest oldie at the moment, isn' it?
  18. Larry, have you ever used or at least heard of the "personal message" functionality?
  19. Oops, you're right. will edit my posting. overread the scan part, only read that soundfile was lifted from another copy. but anyway, why not putting up a scan of the "immaculate" copy? scanning sure doesn't harm the disc does it?
  20. Comedy sale on Manship's site: https://www.raresoulm...d/51858/FIESTAS Compare description and scan, spot the difference. Note to myself: read more carefully
  21. Yes, it was reissued. Only seen scans of it so don't know what the differences in vinyl etc are. Original reads "Ladybird Music" on the right hand side, reissue reads "Millbrand music". Millbrand Music is Paul Mooney's company. Therefore I assume it's a legal reissue not a boot.

ARTHUR CONLEY - 'PEOPLE SURE ACT FUNNY' - GERMAN ATLANTIC (WITH P/S!) lovely sleeve SMOKEY ROBINSON & THE MIRACLES - 'TEARS OF A CLOWN' - GERMAN TAMLA-MOTOWN (WITH P/S!) first issue WILLIAM BELL - "TRYIN' TO LOVE TWO" - DUTCH MERCURY (WITH P/S!) original of Barbara Lynn, nice collectable Auctions end this coming saturday.
