  3. Best version IMO:
  4. bootleg from austria.
  5. Nice one Chris! This one pops up quite often here in Germany. I almost had a heart attack the first time I saw it! Nowadays whenever I see it it just raises my pulse for a second

    Mr Lucky

Which Mr. Lucky? "I was born to love you" on Star-whatever? Thought it was west coast, George Kerr was east coast.
  7. Anyone remember what Derek Pearson wrote about it in Shades? Something like this song makes grown up man to stand up, sing a long loud and proud and not feeling ashamed about that. I agree.
  8. You clearly didn't get the meaning of my post. So be it. Feel free to dissect each and every song posted in this thread. I won't. Not needed. I want folks to post their favourite beat ballads. If they don't fit in my criteria of a beat ballad, so what. If you want to discuss what a beat ballad is and if say odds and ends is one or not, open up a new thread. thank you.
  9. Some tunes mentioned so far I wouldn't class as beat ballads. But I won't say which ones as I don't want to see this thread to go downhill in a "what defines a beat ballad" discussion. I really love beat ballads (or rock-a-ballads as some record reviewers called them in the 60s) and enjoyed this thread immensely so far. Quite a few tunes/recommendations I didn't know. Played youtube vids of a few and they all went straight on my wants list.
  10. Just played a few records and YT vids and read all previous posts. My nominee for the best ever dramatic beat ballads is: anyone disagree?
  11. I know that Brad Lundy and Deena Johnson are the same songs but didn't know that Chuck Jackson did it as well. What is it like?
  12. well, I did, see post #29. Though I have to say that I'm not too keen on "Never loved her anyway". BTW, I have it on a UK London demo.
  13. another great beat ballad: the album-only take by little anthony is way better but couldn't find it on youtube.
  14. here are a few highlights of my little beat ballad/slowie collection, (i prefer the dramatic big orchestra plus kitchen sink production sort of beat ballads) rocky roberts - if he could epsilons - i'm so devoted roy hamilton - the sinner big maybelle - oh lord what are you doing dee dee warwick - i can't go back jimmy beaumont - you got too much going for you roy hamilton - panic is on
  15. What do you reckon, how many 60s soul record were released over there? Just wondering...
  16. You might be right. I know it went for over $2.000 a few years ago. But don't know what it's going for nowadays
  17. Sorry, what's your point? Is it that seller advertises simultaneous on SS and Ebay? Or is it that seller's SS is about 300/400 quid above the current rate?* WTF is HTMHF? * assuming that the Sweets are still four figure?
  18. EP was released in 2012. so boot/reissue whatever one calls it.
  19. sure is. looks like seller (or seller's pal) tried to raise winning bid but exaggerated (correct word?) eventually. or seller tested the water to see what it could fetch. 50 quid would be quite cheap tho.
  20. Been told before that you really suck when dj'ing while driving
  21. Seems like some are getting too paranoid. Tunes 'getting nicked' by others too lazy to get their own tunes? Bullshit. Period. If you have any 'elusive' tunes you don't want us to see, just leave them out of your playlist and post the rest. NB: stig lindberg, must be a sad life if you could dance to uptempo tunes only. I feel sorry for you.
  22. Chalky, any chance you could put both parts on say divshare for downloading?
  23. i think he sold 1-2 copies individually and then put a batch of around 10 copies on ebay. makes it pretty rare IMO.
  24. Just spotted Billy harner - Got to check you out on V-Tone @ 70 quid on a sales liste from april 2012. Looks pretty cheap to me for a record that is known for a dozen or less copies. Or did more copies turn up since that one find 12/18 months ago?
