  1. Was used as theme tune for German TV show "beat club" from 1968 on. Later als for another show but forgot its title. Btw, flipside of orig 45 "bond Street “ is a great mod/r&b instrumental.
  2. I‘m looking for a at least VG+ copy of Andre Cruz & Chris Lujan - Can I call you rose - LBR/Black Diamond 45 Please PM. Many thanks!
  3. Big spin on the mod scene 20 years ago
  4. sorry for hijacking, just wondering, are you chess1458 (aka Mike) on Insta?
  5. for what it's worth I seem to recall that it was played a couple of times on Richard Searling's Jazz FM show back in the early 2k's. Did he own one of the acetates back then?
  6. Last night in a hotel's Restaurant just outside of Stirling: Lots of Northern classics, original versions and obvious rerecordings. Maybe not that unusual to any British. But didn't expect it. Nice way for the missus and me to kick off a two weeks holiday in Scotland. Kids didn't like it though
  7. BIG DADDY RUCKER - JEALOUS MAN - GME - £275 NOW £250 (incl. signed for postage!) Recent funky in demander. Record in lovely EX condition. No flaws. Can also send fully insured at extra cost. Youtube vid for reference (not taken from record!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Payment Paypal only. Thanks for looking!
  8. From what I recall: US UA boot has the 70s UA layout, i.e. 70s UA logo on top. 60s UA was on the left.
  9. I agree. Label made up Even though the picture is very blurry, the writer and producer credits look very similar to the ones on "If I had known".
  10. Oh yes. Summer of soul. How could I forget it. Excellent choice. I nominate the Nina Simone documentary from 2015 "what happend Miss Simone"
  11. Not from me i'm afraid, I'm not that much of a movie fan apart from Star Wars (excl. episodes 1-3). But I'm going to try and watch some of the movies that have been nominated so far.
  12. There are a number of cover versions, Dionne Warwick, Maxine Brown, Freddie North, Tommy Hunt, Brenda & The Tabulations. Each one is good in its own right but none come close to Big Maybelle IMO.
  13. Maybe I just didn't get it, but you're not talking about biopics are you?
  14. BIG DADDY RUCKER - JEALOUS MAN - GME - £300 NOW 275 (incl. signed for postage!) Recent funky in demander. Record in lovely EX condition. No flaws. Can also send fully insured at extra cost. 15. In the YT vid it sounds like the record starts right after the clapping if this is of any help.
  16. Maybe because it was played at Wigan Casino and a demand for it.
  17. maybe because Moments version was released in NL?

  19. GERIATRIC SOUL - KEEP THE FALSE TEETH
  20. Simon, you shouldn't have posted that audio clip. Because now I start to have a growing obsession with this track hearing the isolated vocals for the first time. What a song! Anyone wants to trade to two annoying teenage kids for a copy?
  21. As a Mello Souls copy on Discogs was mentioned twice now, do you mean guys mean it sold on Discogs? No evidence it sold via Discogs from what I can see. Or was it listed and pulled?
  22. I dont think there is any Shrine connection but the horns in this ballad sound pretty shrine-ish to me:
  23. To me Mello Souls is the best Northern records I ever heard. Uptempo, haunting tune, brill vocals, low-fi recording. It has everything I want in a Northern Soul record. Wish I had the dosh. I wouldn't be surprised if this goes well into 5 figures.
  24. I guess we all remember when Fred Parris was a 15-20 quid record in the 90s when there was no real demand for beat ballads. But I'm surprised it went for 244. It sure went for almost double that only a year or two ago. Speaking of, does anyone know where the demand for it comes from? Lowrider collectors?
  25. Personally I think there's nothing wrong with pitching up and down a notch or two if this makes a record more danceable. As long as it doesn't make the record sound quirky in any way. And as long as not all records in a dj set are played pitched.
