  1. Simon, you shouldn't have posted that audio clip. Because now I start to have a growing obsession with this track hearing the isolated vocals for the first time. What a song! Anyone wants to trade to two annoying teenage kids for a copy?
  2. As a Mello Souls copy on Discogs was mentioned twice now, do you mean guys mean it sold on Discogs? No evidence it sold via Discogs from what I can see. Or was it listed and pulled?
  3. I dont think there is any Shrine connection but the horns in this ballad sound pretty shrine-ish to me:
  4. To me Mello Souls is the best Northern records I ever heard. Uptempo, haunting tune, brill vocals, low-fi recording. It has everything I want in a Northern Soul record. Wish I had the dosh. I wouldn't be surprised if this goes well into 5 figures.
  5. I guess we all remember when Fred Parris was a 15-20 quid record in the 90s when there was no real demand for beat ballads. But I'm surprised it went for 244. It sure went for almost double that only a year or two ago. Speaking of, does anyone know where the demand for it comes from? Lowrider collectors?
  6. Personally I think there's nothing wrong with pitching up and down a notch or two if this makes a record more danceable. As long as it doesn't make the record sound quirky in any way. And as long as not all records in a dj set are played pitched.
  7. A local record store asked me to play a few mellow soul and rocksteady tunes for Record Store Day 2023. They set up the decks right in front of the store, arranged couple of tables, chairs and even two sofas around it. Add warm, sunny weather and chilled beverage to this and you'll end up with a great day! Here's what I played, mix of old and new releases. Jo Armstead - Stone good lover The Hesitations - Gotta find a way Candi Staton - Too hurt to cry The Sapphires - Who do you love Vicky Tafoya - Love don't treat you fair Thee Sacred Souls - Let me feel your charm Jensine Benitez - Ilusion de amor Billy Frazier - Let's face reality Claire Davis - Long gone Brothers of Soul - I need your love Belita Woods - That's when I'll stop loving you The Ironsides - The changing light The M-Tet - Gotta be with you JR Bailey - Love won't wear off Bobby McClure - You bring out the love in me The Love Rights - Talk of the town Los Yesterdays - Who made you you George Perkins - I'm so glad you're mine Loleatta Holloway - I can't help myself The Soul Chance - Goodbye Alton Ellis - I'm just a guy The Techniques - You don't care The Wailers - Bus dem shut The Tennors - Pressure and slide Lonely heartaches - The Tartons Phyllis Dillon - Make me yours Dobby Dobson - I'm a loving pauper The Uniques - Love and devotion The Faithful Brothers - One more time Cole Williams - A better woman The Freedom Affair - Give a little love Reality Jonez - Don't count you money The Naturals - Da-da-da Four Tees - One more chance Burny Reynolds - Try me

  8. Don't know about you guys but dancing all night off your head sounds like pure escapism to me. And the reason for this escapism might be the social-economics situation back then?

  14. You're referring to a particular post in the "tracked parcel" topic, aren't you? If you are, I can't see why that is too sarcastic. Maybe you're a bit too sensitive in that matter? We're all grown up adults here and should be able to stand to these posts, shouldn't we? But seriously, if you're annoyed by posts from another member, put them on "ignore".
  15. ??? What's so "pot and kettle" about making aware of a scammer account on Discogs?
  16. https://www.discogs.com/de/sell/seller_feedback/Melissazavala
  17. Discogs been flooded with scammer accounts in the recent months. These crooks had focused on the more expensive pop items. As more and more users became aware of them it seems they now moved to the collectible niche records.
  18. ok, I stand corrected. easy fellas. at least the french EP is a genuine 60s release whereas the US MGM one is technically a reissue.
  19. Rock and Pop counterfeits is a HUUUGE market. Read an article in a magazine some time ago where they managed to talk to both manufacturers and distributors of these counterfeits. Talking about millions of euros and 100s of 1000s of records. Went to a local record fair last sunday. Plenty of dealers that boxes and boxes of what was labelled "new reissues" where it was more than just obvious they were counterfeits.
  20. Huh? It‘s a well documented reissue/bootleg. Nothing exciting about it in my opinion.
  21. Just looked it up on Discogs. Says 1975. Makes sense. For whatever reason both demo and issue of that Thunderbird 45 fetch three figures there.
