  1. 1981 seems to exist: https://www.crystalgypsyvinyl.com/?pid=74144529
  2. What I've learned from this thread is that people actually believe their phones and tablets can be expected to handle as much as a desktop computer. They can not. There's a reason why desktops and laptops are still for sale, and it has nothing to do with the size of the keyboard This goes double for iWhatevers as Apple has decided to stop supporting certain older technologies.
  3. Are you sure you didn't connect an MC needle to a MM phono stage? That would explain the low volume.
  4. I'm still hoping the rare gospel album I won in october will turn up eventually.
  5. Last four to arrive: Waiting for more, some are late already. Hopefully delayed by christmas, not lost.
  6. I think paypal changed their routines a while back. I suddenly got several address requests from sellers after sending payment. It took me a while to notice that paypal had stopped adding shipping address by default.
  7. Last three through the mailbox: (70s, decent flip too) (R&B) (Classic namedropping soul )
  8. It's the size and weight. Very easy to put in any kind of bag when going to record fairs.
  9. I bought one of these (green version) at Benetton last year. I believe that this proves vinyl is back.
  10. Not sure how UK customs works, but where I live you can correct inflated prices by providing a paypal receipt to the customs department. Naturally, you'll have to do this before collecting the package.
  11. I started collecting without any attachment to any kind of scene so I've always played both sides of records to see what side is the best. And I always get a little annoyed when sellers post audio of only one side of a record
  12. I've heard so many terrifying stories about ebays global shipping program that I've never considered bidding on auctions from sellers who use it. Opting out is a good idea.
  13. Howard, thanks for clearing up some of the questions we had. I'm trying to clean up the listings of Chanson and everyone related to the label on discogs.com and you've made it a lot easier. Currently your profile is mixed with that of a jazz guitarist: https://www.discogs.com/artist/282559-Howard-Collins I'm splitting them up, but just to be sure; You haven't had a jazz career, have you? (If you don't know discogs.com it's a database that attempts to become a wikipedia for records. The site is built by contributions of volunteers.)
  14. Discogs has 297 titles listed: https://www.discogs.com/label/109716-Atlantic-Oldies-Series
  15. Oh, that makes some connections even more fascinating. He used both names on some later releases on connowil and skippyophonic. If you get the chance I'd like to find out who "M. Harrison" was. That name is credited on several songs. And who was Charlie Chuck on Chanson?
  16. Last three through the door:
  17. Looks like he's been ok for two years and then suddenly stopped shipping out records. Could be medical reasons or something like that.
  18. Makes me wonder what expedits were made of? Asbestos?
  19. If you have the cash you'd be better off with sennheiser momentum than bose. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-Momentum-On-Ear-Headphones-Black/dp/B00ESEUZAO/ref=sr_1_cc_2?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1413720345&sr=1-2-catcorr&keywords=sennheiser+momentum
  20. Bobby Dixon - Woman, You Made Me / You Don't Wanna Love Me on Probe Preferably with the picture sleeve. EX or better vinyl. PM if you have one for sale or know someone who does.
  21. Chanson usually published through Czar, and later Gambi. Both publishers were connected to people connected to the label so why Manitou? Discogs has Manitou as a Canadian publisher. I think it was probably released only on Reo.
  22. That's interesting. Those two names could be Howard Collins and "M. Harrison" who are credited on most Chanson label releases. We're currently discussing that label here: Could you please provide a scan of the Paul Griffin record?
  23. I just went back and read the old and noticed this scan: That is probably Evalene Braden. On James M. Brown's JBP label from Pulaski. The old Chanson and new Chanson are clearly linked in my opinion.
  24. Chanson production credit and written by Skip August. I'd love to know how this fits with the rest. Skip August had one (or more) record on J.M. Browns Tee Vee label: https://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=4025595 He's also credited on several releases from Skippyophonic. Image from link added for reference:
