  1. Picked this up on ebay a few years ago.
  2. In discogian language Unofficial is anything that's not licensed properly, mostly bootlegs. Have you tried asking discogs staff about his business? Not all forms of bootleg business is allowed, especially if he makes them on demand. I can't remember exactly where the line gets drawn, but it's worth sending discogs staff a message.
  3. I was looking at what I bought last year and thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else had purchased in the last year. Old or new, cheap or expensive. Post your favourites! These are mine: Landy Mc Neil ‎– Move It (Move On) Rated "X" ‎– What You Gonna Do About It Othea George ‎– Now That You're Gone John Standberry, Jr. ‎– Keep On Working Forth Session ‎– She's Gone Black & Ward ‎– This Is My Confusion Jade ‎– Viva! Carolyn Veal ‎– Your Love Is Like A Chain Around My Heart The Fabulous Pearls ‎– Jungle Bunny Alvin Delk, The Rocking Cavaliers ‎– Ain't Nothin Shakin'
  4. I recently bought from a US seller who sent through DHL Global Mail, at a rate of $7 for one 45. I don't know if he has any special deals going on, but that's a very old-fashioned price. Free shipping would free up more money which I'd spend on other items from my wantlist. It would be nice but not realistic. The only version I know of that does free shipping is "Punk-Post" which basically is a buddy system where people who travel bring packages for other punks.
  5. Are there 7.4 billion soul collectors? And did all 500 survive through the decades?
  6. The other demo looks like this:
  7. Lots of funk to listen to here: https://www.trntbl.me/funksoul There are no decent funk forums anymore, just some fb groups like the one mentioned.
  8. Probably. I've only bought one 45 with GSP but when I placed my bid ebay updated the customs price as soon as I entered a number in the bid box. I used that to find the exact top bid I could place without getting hit with a customs charge.
  9. I've never felt comfortable asking for a low value on the customs slip. I am happy every time someone does it, but technically it's fraud and could get the seller in trouble if someone wanted to strike down on this (which becomes more probable with every new trade agreement that gets passed).
  10. Cool, I wasn't aware of this. I've been guessing from the label that they're ex-military. The FYDAQ reference makes it a bit more credible.
  11. I'm looking for Ex or better copies of John Standberry on Barry and Sumpter. PM me if you have either, or both.
  12. DRA has a nice design. Modernist jazzy style. And A Bem Sole is so typical it looks almost made up in retrospect. I also like this one. The name helps. A bit too blue-eyed track, but still nice.
  13. I recently had a package through GSP. Shipping was expensive, but just as fast as ordinary post. There were lots of hassle from ebay for each step of the process. The 45 was re-packaged in bubble wrap and foam boards in an envelope. So many headaches and suggestions of slow delivery and crap I never have with ordinary airmail. And that's without having to worry about taxes since the 45 was (ridiculously) cheap.
  14. Is it only available as insanly priced hard back? I'd buy one, but £75?
  15. Are you sure? The seller clearly states with great emphasis that this is Germany only.
  16. Storm was the first label. And it was 1961. Where Prelude comes in is unclear. https://books.google.no/books?id=KSEEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA4&dq=J.J.+Jackson+‎–++Let+The+Show+Begin&hl=no&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwib3_KxvKfOAhXBDSwKHSx6BdMQ6AEIHjAA#v=onepage&q=J.J. Jackson ‎– Let The Show Begin&f=false
  17. I seem to remember this was some kind of US bootleg label.
  18. Precisions on Drew, always the same price and always as many copies for sale as any other 20 quid record. Exits on Gemini, local hit on at least two label variations. Always a handful of copies around if you want to pay the steadily rising price.
  19. Discogs has the repressed ones marked: https://www.discogs.com/Nicole-Willis-The-Soul-Investigators-If-This-Aint-Love-Dont-Know-What-Is/master/158404
  20. Doesn't seem to be the same Lightning label. The WEA one had a completely different logo.
  21. I have two 45s by The Dynamic "O" on Lightning but can't find any information on these. Any of you know these? And more importantly, do you know who he was and when they were released? Any and all info appreciated.
  22. I've been buying all sorts of cheapies lately.
  23. One of the joys of playing your records at home with no audience is that the correct sequence is whatever feels right in your own head at that exact moment. I play records at home regularly. When I'm lazy I'll play them on the small stereo, or I'll pick up a box and walk over to the other room and play them loudly on the big speakers.
  24. It's a Holland-Dozier 45 on Invictus. This one: https://www.discogs.com/Holland-Dozier-Im-Gonna-Hijack-Ya-Kidnap-Ya-Take-What-I-Want/release/4731604
  25. There's a decent profile on discogs: https://www.discogs.com/artist/932640-James-L-Jones Isn't this handyman? 45cat says it is: https://www.45cat.com/artist/jimmy-jones
