  1. Some, but not all. Matt. Removed while wet.
  2. I tried this on a cheap stax (styrene) 45 and it took the colour off the label. Any special tricks to avoid this? Probably works better on vinyl I would guess.
  3. Gospel was fun when you could still buy a stack of 45s on ebay for peanuts. The rising prices took most of the joy out of collecting them. The recent gospel revival brought a lot of titles that are not that good but still get lots of play. Some of the records I found and do still enjoy: Southern Trumpets – Good News The Harris Special – To Make Things Better Evangelist Billy Sanders – Why Am I Treated So Bad The Souls Of Solomon Of Buffalo New York – Do Your Self A Favor / Got To Get A Message To Jesus Connie Pitts – Working People The Genessee Gospel Travelers - Don't Blame It On The Children The Sensational Travelers Of Richmond California – We Need Love The Lou Etta Terry Singers Of Buffalo New York – Prayer Is The Answer / Who Do You Turn To O'Neal And The Dean Brothers – Don't Give Up / It's Your Life The Soul Superiors Of Detroit Mich. – What Ever You Do, Do Good Mr. Soul Roosevelt Brown – Don't Let The Devil Ride Spencer Jackson Family – Bring Back Peace To The World
  4. Oneida Video-Audio, they did a lot of very obscure records.
  5. She previously did the same on ebay, and amazon I think, but they unblocked after a while. The claim was probably too weak. Discogs probably has less cash for legal assistance so they just block the sales.
  6. From what I can recall the company moved from state to state as the owner was a musician who relocated a lot.
  7. How much higher? JM had this listed as from the completely wrong state. It's a Jacksonville 45 in every way.
  8. That's a regular scammer. New accounts as the old get closed but always $80 for expensive titles.
  9. It was just a rumor. Interviews with the studio staff confirmed they were still at Fame because the recordings were unfinished.
  10. I'm not big on LP's. But two top favourites are: The Fuzz - The Fuzz (Calla) Satisfaction Unlimited - Think of the Children (Hot Wax)
  11. There's no solid evidence telling us what 340 actually is. I found the counterfeit theory through another forum but can't remember which one anymore, it's been a while since I dealt with the list. I seem to remember it may not only apply to Oneida. There are several obvious counterfeits pressed by them (and the owner had previous convictions for counterfeiting records) so they were involved in some way. Oneida was also located in Utica which is a city with a dubious history regarding organised crime.
  12. 340 is a client number or similar that has been assosciated with counterfeit records. I was working on a list of 340's on Discogs but it's been a while since I updated: https://www.discogs.com/lists/340-matrix-Oneida-and-others/496942
  13. Don't replace the newer one, just add your version as a unique release. If you upload to the 2000s release it will just be disabled. I'd like to know the runouts for this version. It looks like it was pressed by Oneida who did a lot of custom pressing jobs (and a few bootlegs).
  14. Fourth mentioned in this thread. If you show a scan and some runouts it may be possible to know more about the 45.
  15. 2004 it says on my profile. Probably true. I was on Rare Soul Talk and Soulful Detroit more. And the funk forums when they existed. After all these years I'm still not a regular user, but nice to stop by every now and then.
  16. Recut can just mean that the first test pressing was not approved, it would normally not have anything to do with releases.
  17. Can you remember where you got the 1983 date from when you asked about this topic in 2010?: https://soulfuldetroit.com/showthread.php?30033-Gino-Washington-s-1970s-Record-Productions
  18. Ah, no. I forgot to add the date. He retired in 1992.
  19. During 1974 Gil Roberts became employed by WEA:
  20. A recording engineer has commented on discogs that "I lost you girl" was recorded August 15, 1970 at Pioneer Recording in Detroit. The G&G scan has 19,8,83 handwritten on the label so a 1983 release is not impossible. (There's also a youtube comment that claims that Perfecta was "named after a racetrack windfall he enjoyed that week". Youtube vid is from his Love Bandit compilation on Norton so maybe info from there?)
  21. I don't actually know if I need this. But I need this. Hopefully 99 others will need it too.
  22. BMI only has Jesse greer as writer. Maybe a typo on one label. Are the runouts identical?
  23. Delete browser cache and try again.
  24. There was a Floyd Bibbins born in 1936 in Norfolk, virginia. The same city was the birth place of The Grandison Singers who had a pianist by the same name. The Grandison Singers were part of the hard gospel side of the folk scene in the early 60's. They were three women and a man. In 1961 Floyd Bibbins appears as writer for two songs by a male/female group on Beltone called The Swanettes sounding a lot like a gospel group. They were apparently also the backing singers for Bobby Lewis with his big hit on the same label. Then The Swanenettes disappear and The Grandison Singers gain traction. They release a 45 on RCA in 1962 and get published in several magazines and newspapers. At least until about 1964. Then nothing until Floyd Bibbins releases a 45 on Kris ca. 1973. Through the 70's and into the early 80's he appears in different roles on disco 45s.
