The best soul album
" Still Caught Up" is on par too but it was the first one that had me the same thinking as you too.

The best soul album
Not a great fan of live albums but James Brown " Live At The Appolo " and a non soul album Bob Marley " Live At The Lyceum " are two that capture the vibe and feeling of the night on vinyl for me.

Most influential rhythm and blues records of the 1960's
Maybe the reason for no mention of Otis is because i thought ? the main gist of the thread was records that changed the musical direction of black music in the U.S. example R&b to early soul then the Motown Sound then to more funk and album oriented stuff and seventies sweet soul, not records that had an influence on British listeners. Or maybe I am wrong as usual ?.

Thank f*** it never came about the thought of Jones doing those songs and others in Detroit with Motown does not dare thinking about. Jones at Motown nearly as big as tragedy as what happened to Delilah.

Euro 2024 - Germany Topic
YES , winning is success losing is failure especially against 2 sides who 1 was inferior to our team Italy and Spain were probably equal. His defensive mentality cost us the chance of success.

If success means not winning anything that is true after all reaching 2 finals and a semi is a success of sorts 😂

Kings Of Soul - Members 2020 Video Playlist
Unfortunately the greats who have hit paydirt do not get the accolades on here as much as the relative unknowns which is natural on a site about rare soul. Great to hear some of the tracks again though If we do the queen's it's a tough one for me to decide on one.

England had no cohesion the players looked drained of energy and tactically inept.

Euro 2024 - Germany Topic
Only watched one full game so far the England match, as usual we flatter to deceive, a good opening spell a well taken goal and then nothing of note, second half good job they lacked any punch near goal after good build up play and if it wasn't for a great save from Pickford the papers would have slaughtered us this morning. I suppose we will grow into the tournament 🙂.

Just where is NS heading in the future?
It is obvious as we get older the need to go out diminishes too much of a chore after a week at work or in my case endless appointments at the docs etc. But I am now happy to get the uptempo music out and play it at home at the weekend with a few cans and in the week I tend to play the more slower stuff and lps etc. Whatever happens to the scene the music is there for as long as we want it. And I am eternally grateful for that.

Any updates on Elsie on her joining in this discussion especially about her claims singing on multiple records by the likes of the Manhattans, Spinners etc. Be interesting to hear from her.

Just where is NS heading in the future?
That is how it should be I am surprised young kids want to listen to music made 50 years or more ago however great it is but it's their choice and if they break away from the older people on the scene "more power to em" I find it strange to see young kids at Soul events with people in their sixties, if the kids are the future of northern as they should be events that attract that age bracket is the future.

Just where is NS heading in the future?
Seems to me all the diehards can do is enjoy the music and the scene which still exists for the true devotees and cock a deaf un to the explosion of the bandwagon jumpers and all the trash what goes with it. Still some great music been issued by companies, unreleased or reissues to satisfy most of us and some select venues still with the ethos of the scene.

New Northern Soul release?
Nothing to do with soul music other than the venue setting and the stereotype dancing.
