  1. As stated in the previous post some lyrics might help, O'jays have had loads of records from the 60,s big on the northern scene so without some lyrics you are on a loser .

  3. The song Jimmy Mack was written as a tribute to a deceased song writer named Ronnie Mack .
  4. So will this be the same Jimmy Mack who also produced The Furys amongs others, who later became the TV and movie actor James Mceachin of Tenafly fame, who was also a decorated soldier.
  5. Nice version ,also done to good effect by The Worlds Funkiest Band , as for Crossover not in my definition, a bit too gritty.

  10. Two more from me . Shirley Brown = Intimate Storm, i love this lp sheer perfection. Sandra Wright = Wounded Woman. In demand album and with just cause.
  11. Another couple from me nothing rare but both come highly recommended. Roy C = Sex And Soul , no duds on this album. Clay Hammond = Streets Will Love You , cheap but no compromise on quality.
  12. THE ORIGINALS-PORTRAIT OF THE ORIGINALS -[for the brilliantly crafted you want hearts and flowers and the awesome since i fell for you. The Concept of this topic is great , never really played the Originals lp so will dig it out this weekend and give it a go. Keep them coming ! .
  13. 1/ Doris Duke = I'm A Loser . A truly superb lp,one i could not live without . 2/ Millie Jackson = Caught Up .Same as above. 3/ Millie Jackson = Still Caught Up . As good as the other Millie lp , great follow up. 4/ Garland Green = Jealous Kind Of Fellow. When i need a cheering up i always go to this lp, great writing ,great production and a great performance from Garland.
  14. My all time fave by BETTY is her crunching version of Its Your Turn To Cry. Can't post it up its not in refosoul.
  15. Is it only me but this record to my ears sounds very similar to the Otis Clay record ( On My Way Home) . Can anybody shed any light on it ? Thanks Graham
  16. One LP not too miss is The Modulations = Its Rough Out Here , a classic album , easy to pick up it as it was reissued a few years back.

  18. Listened to it last night and i really enjoyed it, great music with some great anecdotes loved the one by his daughter when asked about his singing she said he was ok but no Elvis .
  19. Two of my faves from one of the most consistent artists of soul music, a true legend. I'M A GOOD WOMAN = BARBARA LYNN. I DON'T WANT A PLAYBOY = BARBARA LYNN.
  20. Don't know if this has any exposure but it's been a fave of mine for 25 years or more , DAVID PORTER = IF I GIVE IT UP I WANT IT BACK . Cheap as well.

  23. Could well be the track mentioned above by Pete S ,the track in question starts off as its going to be a ballad then launches into an uptempo number , its from a stage show.
  24. Just finished listening to the Queen Emily album and it' every bit as good Sean said one for every Southern Soul devotee.
