  1. If we are going on the reasoning that its got to be a artist who has spanned the decades Bobby Bland has got to be up there with the best of them.
  2. Frank Guida i assume was the the same guy that produced the northern record Just Ask Me by Lenis Guess. Think the piece about Oliver Christian having a pop hit in Britain is untrue.
  3. No worries mate , i'm just a thick Yorkshire man theres not going to be a Universal implosion is there though. Good thread by the way, Graham.
  4. Can understand that Simon , but it was you that gave the idea that there was also another motive to the thread by saying all will be revealed at the end.
  5. Is it when Ian says so ?
  6. Several productions i like by Ian Levine as i mentioned earlier in the thread , but this is the one i still play on a regular basis so this is my fave record by Ian , beats the original Barrat Strong version for me.
  7. When is all to be revealed ?
  8. Marvin for me , did it all the Motown 60s artist thing, then into the political awareness and thus producing a true masterpiece in Whats Going On, then the love man giving us the great Lets Get It On album . The man was flawed but all genius are. He still moves me today a all time great .
  9. Great record , forgot about that one even the Motorcity version is ok.Think Ians problem was as already stated he was recording too much in a short period of time and the quality suffered but when he did get it right he recorded some great british modern soul.
  10. Looking at it from Chalkys point of view he's right playing a boot would only create a demand for it .
  11. The first rule about bootlegs is not to buy them surely, once its bought the damage has been done.
  12. Too true play what you like it ain't no hanging offence.
  13. Waiting Round The Corner Mike And The Modifiers ain't too bad.
  14. Sorry to hear you feel bitter towards Levine , just hope you get a bit of the money due to you by taking the advice offered. Thanks for the music you have created you are a talented lady . Graham.
  15. Click on Watch on youtube
  16. https://youtu.be/rPCWPEoEaVs
  17. Got to give the man credit a lot of the artists he recorded for Motorcity would have never got near a studio again if it was not for Ian.
  18. The recut of G.C. Camerons You're What's Missing In My Life is better than the Motown original to me.
  19. Man Up In The Sky = Johnny Bristol and Chuck Jackson = All Over The World are two i like..
  20. One downside to cds i can see is that some great soul music that got released on cd only will probably not get the exposure it deserves on the dance floor because of the vinyl only obsession . Some great stuff got released cd only, some of the Malaco stuff comes to mind amongst other great stuff.
  21. David Porter = If I Give It Up Want It Back and the reason had it in my hand i sent for it for a mate off the internet.
  22. Would any of these ever seen the light of day on vinyl Ian ?
  23. As good as British Gas customer care, f##king rubbish.
  24. Even though cds may not be the favoured medium for most people on here without it loads of great soul music would still be languishing in the vaults , you can,t get 70 minutes of music on one lp. And its good to see Ace making some cash out of them and long may it continue.
  25. Ain't that the case with all formats, we all own more music than we ever play and we are always buying more.
