    I agree the backing spoilt some good records that Levine cut on Motorcity but that was also a fault with most new releases at that time, even Malaco and the like fell into the trap with a lot of their recordings and you felt that great songs, great singers shame about the drum machines and such. The amount of LPs I bought in the eighties and nineties and thought if only they had used real instruments .

    The Willie Hutch version appears on the Expansion double vinyl Lp '' Try It You'll Like It '' released in 2003. It was also recorded by G.C. Cameron on his '' Love Songs And Other Tragedies '' album , which is available on vinyl.

    A track by Bird - The Whole World Knows , uses the same backing track can't tell if that is just another sample of the same track or the original , not my kinda music . Its on youtube.

    Lovely record the perfect crossover sound and worth all the plaudits that comes its way . Don't think that the reviewer was unkind just that acceptance has changed to this sort of record the last couple of decades.

    As long as these releases are legit which they are I cannot see a problem and more to the point they are doing soul music lovers a great service by releasing unissued material from a legendary label which I and many others want to hear.

    Seems as though this record has found its way for sale on SS judging by the scan showing on the sale and at least now there is a soundfile for anyone interested in buying the said record.

    According to the ''Don't Forget The Motor City'' website The single was released Feb 74 and the Lp May 74.

    I thought the LP came first but then why would MFP title an Lp after a track that had not been released if that was the case ?
