  1. There's one on here in pictures 'Soul Artists' page 6 , probably need permission to use it I would imagine.
  2. Also the Soulful Symphony got a US release on the 'Right On' label .
  3. Great picture of a lovely bird that seems to be more abundant now in gardens in the towns and cities, waste land perfect growing conditions for Teasel And Thistle and their ability to take advantage of feeders. Had 7 on my feeders today , the most I have counted around the feeders was 30 in the summer. I always thought they were shy birds but there as bold as brass round here.
  4. I was talking about Afternoon Of The Rhino which Spain Pete brought up in the thread not the Frank Wilson record. Think this thread has deviated more than any other thread I have ever read.
  5. More like because it is '' played out'' as in overplayed and its day has gone .
  6. Franks lyric sounds good to me , and his writing over the years ain,t shabby either. LOL
  7. Another one from me - Barbara Mason '' Lady Love '' ( loves the thing ) . Some nice modern dancers mixed with some lovely ballads.
  8. The Isleys is a great album , love listening to this on a hot summers day laid on the recliner in the garden
  9. That album and Millie Jackson's Caught Up lp changed my direction in soul music , it was never just the beat after those two.
  10. These 3 still get plays by me and I ever tire of. Roy C - Sex And Soul Dramatics - A Dramatic Experience Swamp Dogg - Gag A Maggot
  11. The 2 John Edwards albums are essential The O,jays - Family Reunion
  12. Yes definitely some out there , I owned a dvd with footage with me and the ex on it
  13. So sad , Denise is one of my favourite female artists who has delivered great records through her long career. R.I.P. Denise.
  14. Here is a record to help for hope and inspiration for people in any situation. Good luck to anyone going through cancer treatment , you have my blessings and upmost respect.

A great record which has stood the test of time unlike a lot of others of its ilk , has anyone got a clue what the f**k are the lyrics ? I can make a few lines out but most are double dutch to me

I know its a record that's been flogged to death but I still love Ramsey Lewis and ''Wade In The Water'' , when Ramsey sweeps the length of the piano I,m playing there with him

First one that comes to mind for me is Marvin's '' Little Darling'' love the tinkling piano in the background it makes a great record brilliant. Never tire of hearing this record still sounds fresh today.
  19. Interesting reading and a fantastic record too , could be a contender in the - Record You Never Get Tired of hearing topic .
  20. Bobby Womack - Standing In The Safety Zone , Pure bliss to my ears a record that starts of like a rock track then develops into a Womack classic the middle and the last section does me every time. Always a second play for this with the volume cranked up. Another for me is Otis Clay - It Was Jealously , this one leaves me rendered f**ked but another play is needed.
  21. All the best in the new venture , hope they make it pay. It looks a nice set up and window display is eye catching
  22. Just tongue in cheek manus , too much pigeon holing goes on, its all soul music to me whatever the tempo
  23. My long term idea of deep with a beat has totally gone out of the window seems deep with a beat are just deep soul records with the backing cranked up from the usual tempo . Would beat ballads be a more apt description lol
  24. I thought deep with a beat meant records with a heartfelt lyric with a dance beat . The Doris album although one of my all time faves hardly qualifies.

The backing may have a northernish feel but the vocals much to the vocalists credit are pure indie band and owe nothing to soul music to my ears.
