  1. Some info here of the artist courtesy of a member on here's site - Sir Shamblings Deep Soul Heaven. https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/K/johnny_k/index.php
  2. A listing of it here https://www.45cat.com/artist/johnny-k-and-the-dynamites
  3. Looking back on the thread ' The Snake'' came out very well apart from the thread opener most people seemed to have a soft spot for the record . I do not want to hear it often but that is the case with loads of records as with Frank Wilson a victim of its own success because they are records that also appeal with the general public. As for ''Tribute'' f**ck all to do with soul of any kind , wedding do fodder.
  4. Recording wise , the record companies will make that decision ? As for touring I assume the love of the limelight and a need to pay bills pushes them on when probably a lot should have called it a day , a lot of our artists are at least in their seventies and I know lots of people who can hardly walk at that age so more power to the singers who keep going . The artists who turn up at say the Weekenders probably feel what the f**k I will give it a go , a lot may have not performed for years, so maybe a little slack should be given.
  5. '' That's Why I Came To California'' - Leon Ware
  6. My apologies I meant pictures not videos.
  7. Not just a Northern thing though is it , it is everywhere, football grounds etc ,pubs , people seem to need a visual reminder of every occasion .
  8. Pointless to me seem more fun to the mixer than the public and records from the 60s were meant to last only about 2 and a half minutes , no point in fleshing them out . Less is more.
  9. WOW ,TSWONS AND BLOODY HELL
  10. It was Tomangoes who alluded to the playing of this record and it been a floor filler thus his '' TSWONS '' .
  11. I do not attend gigs anymore so I am out of touch, so records like the '' DJ GENESIS'' f**k up of the Betty Wright coming of age classic are filling dance floors at certain so called northern soul gigs ? If so the next time I do drag my ass out I will be doing my homework to make sure I do not have to endure such crap.
  12. I meant more of the over 50 singles type weekenders not the sort at Cleethorpes, Prestatyn ect .
  13. I would have thought the only places that records such as ''The Snake'' and '' Tribute '' get played are holiday weekender type gigs which are hardly or nothing to do with real deal. I have not heard ''The Snake'' anywhere in the last 30 years or more.
  14. Would be perfect at a wedding, played after Jive Bunny they would rock the floor
  15. A record to be played out never , but when I play AL Wilsons ''Searching For The Dolphins'' Lp the song takes on a new light and sounds great amongst the rest of this great Lp.
  16. Probably the reason you and bilboka do not seem to get the ovo thing is you have never been involved in the Northern scene in any form or fashion. You seem to think that because venues operate a ovo policy only, that people just go for that reason and not the music played, the policy goes hand in hand with the music . Great music played on the original format.
  17. Linda Scott Monday Blues The Ronettes did the original I believe . Non of them do anything for me .
  18. Ronettes John Holt
  19. Seems you ain't got the power , looking at the further youtube postings ! lol
